  • My mini retirement in Thailand before I return back to the real world…
I boarded my flight and then my co-teacher Joseph called me while we were waiting for take off to say good bye and wish me a good trip. He said he’ll really miss me and I’ll always be his friend and little sister. 😭😭😭🥹🥹🥹 omg my heartttttt 😭😭😭 I’m so lucky!!!
Why Thailand? Well, my aerial yoga teacher training was in Thailand so I decided to do my retirement there. And because I learned during my time in Korea that I feel really fulfilled when I try new activities, I decided to learn Muay Thai, the national sport of Thailand.
Wow also I am really liking Muay Thai? Not interested in sparring or anything but pad work with the instructors is so much fun!! It’s such a fun form of cardio omg.
My first Muay Thai private lesson was sooooo tiring but fun and my instructor was so kind! He didn’t speak much English but he kept on pretending to fall over whenever I punched and kicked him even though I know I didn’t have much power HAHAHA. Also I was pretty intimidated during my first couple of group lessons because I was the only beginner, but then my second week there were a lot more beginners! Muay Thai is so much fun and I wish I had discovered it sooner! All those years wasted on boring cardio like running… 🥲 Although my body has adjusted to it pretty quickly haha the human body is so amazing. :o And I got way better at jump roping too because we always do 5-10 minutes of it as a warm up! Honestly the first few days only my calves were sore because of the jump rope lol (they call it skipping here!). And I’m really surprised because it doesn’t hurt my wrists… literally everything hurts my wrists hahaha.
It was kinda shocking going from snow in Incheon to the heat in Bangkok. xD I think the people here are really nice and friendly!
Thanks so much Mikey for hanging out, chilling, and eating!
I’m glad I got to try out Hogwarts Legacy, which honestly kinda reminds me of the Pokemon games, and also confirmed that I have (somewhat sadly) definitely outgrown these kinds of games (and it gave me wrist pain LOL). We also tried out a board game called Sky Team which was pretty fun on the easy level but then got super frustrating on the next level LOL.
Haha omg on my last food tour, we passed by a jewelry shop and our guide was like “Okay here is the part where the scam starts. We’re going to buy some jewelry.” LOLOL it was so funny!! Also I knew about burning paper money for the ancestors but they also had paper iPhones, skincare, dentures, etc. it was so interesting to see!
I met some really nice people on the food tours and at Muay Thai and at my yoga teacher training, and it was a nice reminder that you can find good people everywhere. 🥹
Can’t believe I survived 12-hour training days with no AC and only vegan food for 6 days…. Proud of myself but I don’t ever want to do that again HAHA. Really learned a lot of interesting stuff at the aerial yoga teacher training, especially about regulating my nervous system. Thanks to the teachers and the people in my group, it was a really freeing experience. And I’m officially certified to teach aerial yoga now!
Also super happy that I managed to avoid “Bangkok belly” hahahaha I was really careful/paranoid and only ate street food on the food tours. XD
For the observations of my teaching exam, everyone said that I had a super calming voice and that I explained things really well so they could really feel that I had a teaching background. 🥹🥹 Yay teaching in Korea came in handy!
I’m really glad I came but I’m not sure if I’ll be back. At least not anytime soon. xD The weather really made my eczema come back and I’m leaving with 20+ mosquito bites (not even exaggerating…). Also I think since I went on so many food tours and all of them had really good food that when I was just eating at places I found myself nothing else really tasted as good LOL so that’s a con of going on so many food tours. I had a great experience here and now it has made me ready and even excited to go home!
Now for job-hunting… I need to mentally prepare myself for a long search because all my software engineer friends have been telling me about how bad the job market is right now. 🥲 I got this!!!
