Both versions are good and were written by the living legend Mel Brooks. You know I haven’t even watched the original in full. Shame on me, I’ll fix that this weekend.
Roger Ebert was of the opinion that the scene in which Zero Mostel (Baylistock) throws water in Wilder ( Bloom's) face when he's having an anxiety attack and yet gets even worse screaming "Now I'm wet, I'm wet, I'm wet!" having gotten even more erratic was the most funniest scene ever in a comedic movie.
@@alecfoster4413 Yeah I neglected to add that part of the scene. What I also liked was seeing the very hot Lee Meredith who played Ulla the sexy Swedish secretary. "Can you believe Bloom I met her at the public library?
Maybe it was the similar sounding names? I don't get the appeal of Thurman. There are plenty of more attractive women. She musta been wild on the couch to get the role.

Lee Meredith lived 5 houses down from my parents house in River Edge NJ. She jogged every weekend and she would stop traffic.
R.I.P. Zero and Gene. Thanks for the laughs 😢🙏💐🕯
They’re up in heaven, ripping off all the saints for their premiere, universe-side property.
@@DRSTRANGELOVEINhate to break it to you but Gene was an atheist, not sure about Zero, so..
@@CounterclothLol ..Zero was even further left ..in fact I believe he actually got blacklisted back in the day.
This movie came out when I was a kid, the salty humor went over my head....so many years later, it's just hilarious.
Same here. Funnier every year!
😂😂😂😂
👍🏿🇬🇧
Me, too. Thanks for breaking the ice.
This is the pinnacle of humour , in the whole of cinematic history ....bar none .
Well , I think so ....
Genes facial expressions in this scene are a masterpiece
A come to bed face😉
Actually it is hard for me to take my eyes off of Mostel in this scene. He is hilarious.
After almost 6 years I guess I'll be the first to say it but Lee Meredith was smoking hot in this movie.
Amen
* Ulla invented Jiggle! ☺
I just watched the film on HBO Max for the first time, and I never thought I’d come across a woman that attractive.
🚬♨️
First that afternoon, maybe.
No need to state the obvious at any rate. People 10 billion years from now will say Ah-Ulla-Wow-Wha-Wow-Wow! 😛
Lee Meredith was one hell of a fine female specimen. What a figure!! She was the stuff that dreams were made of.
Feminists are comedy gold. Their absurd understanding of gender equality keeps me entertained everyday.
Go to verk!!
Time to put it away
Best comedy film ever god bless mel gene and zero
A dream come true !
'' Nice Girl " !!!
She takes her earrings off, that’s an efficient receptionist. 🥰😁
Max: 'met her in the NYC Library', classic line!

Why oh why did I watch the remake... ? This is by far way better!! lol!!!
I was never interested in the remake. No offense to Mel Brooks.

It’s not even close
@@rmcfete Well I thought Uma did a decent job as did Broderick.
Sometimes I still answer the phone that way.
Bialystok and Bloome🎶
Truly a comedy classic! Thank you Mel Brooks for all the laughs.
That comb-over is awesome.
I met Lee Meredith back in the 80s, quite a woman.
Lucky man
In the public library?
She was so fine and I remember her when I was 10 years old and saw this movie. I didn't know why but I made the same faces they made.
I've seen this so many times and I love every time Zero breaks character. You can tell he's about to laugh when he says, "NO! NO HOTEL!"
Why did they ever remake this? It's perfect satire . Mel Brookes utter genius..
Why did they remake this? Great question. There's no possible way to improve on the original. I refuse to watch the remake.
They weren’t trying to remake it, they were trying trying to make a film adaptation of the stage musical
@@thatguy3968 but there was an original film version that the stage play was adapted from! ha ha ha!

The stage musical was pretty great tho
That character is amazing.
tell me about it
God dag på dig!

Dang, Lee and Zero actually had quite a chemistry-heavy moment there with the cigar! Ulla does love her Bialy!
Brilliant!

You're going to squash me like a bug!
When I saw Lee for the first time . . . I blew a fuse. Can't seem to find a replacement fuse ever since. I was eleven years old.
Your Mom must have blown a gasket afterwards.
Everyone is great in this scene, but Ms. Meredith has something very...special.
Very
What a time to be alive!
Met my partner in an academic library and she nearly beat me when I showed her this scene for that reference lol
Speaking as a Secretary from the 80s, EVERYONE wanted an Ulla......

I need to hangout at the Library more often.
I love Zero! His eyes are so expressive!

I was thinking it was going to be Lee Meriwether. I was pleasantly surprised.

Get the whip and go to vork

How, How
Wilder is uber funny
What is it about classic comedies having fun e most beautiful women on earth? 😄
HO-LEE!!!
Poor Max and Leo.
Ulla gets a kick out of two guys "going to motel", I can see that. Not that I blame her :D
I'll be in my bunk 😎
I can't recommend the remake with Mathew Broderick and Uma Thurman. Uma is not very good at portraying Ulla. The 1967 film is funnier.
Maybe it was the similar sounding names? I don't get the appeal of Thurman. There are plenty of more attractive women. She musta been wild on the couch to get the role.
I don't think she's wearing a bra......
Of course she is, otherwise you'd see her high beams on.

"Goddag på dig" -- ahahaha
... and the Martians said ''UL-LA!''
Ulla, go to work..........Goddamn for day!
‘Goddag pa dig’
Of course, she didn't do much else afterwards.

This is so sexist...I can't even begin to describe it.
That's the point of satire.
This is disgusting
Ulla can write a ticket that doesn't exist, and still get in. That's how good she is.

This is making fun of zero, more than anything else. Glad they put it in.

I’ve always had a crush on Gene Wilder. He’s so young here!
This movie could never get made toaday. Too bad the woke killed humor and nuance. She came from the factory 100 percent hottie.
