Hey, you have got the same result for each of those input parameter design point. I guess you should be able to get some change in result if your simulation is working properly. Did you figure out what has not been accurate in such case? Your opinion would be highly appreciated.
Incredible work and very hepful! Congrats! Can I ask a question, how does parallel processors affect solution speed? For example my computer has 16 logical processors so i chose 4 parallel processors in the set up. I see in the task manager that when i chose 4 parallel processors during solving it opens 4 processes. So in reality i choose processes or logical processors? Meaning i can choose more than 16 processors? Thanks in advance
Thanks for the tutorial. It's very good but I have a problem that my new design point outlets, won't update to the new input value. They remain the same as the original DP. I have checked that the setup uses an input parameter and in CFD post I have made the outlets, out put parameter. Any ideas where to look for the problem? thanks again
@@AnsysTutor I also have a similar problem, but in my case, the first dp output parameter is copied in the rest, which has a different value from the original dp. I have checked the retain checkbox. Thank you in advance.
Thank You for Your video! I have such question: Let imagine, that there is a parameter P1, which changes in the range from 0 to 100 with the step 0.1. Is there any chance to import its values as txt or csv, instead of setting it up manually in the Ansys window? Thank You in advance!
Add frozen option makes the body separate from the previous created body. It keeps them as a different part. Whereas "Add material' option joins the new geometry with the previous one.
Thank you so much for your help. I am confused, if I have set the iterate times as 1000, if I change the boundary values parameter setting and update, will each case run 1000 time?In these, you do not change the diameter, if I set the diameter as a parameter, can it work? Finally, what is your goal at last, I do not know which is the optimization values at last?
Yes for each parameter case it will iterate 1000 times. For geometry change also it will work similarly. The aim of parametric method is to save the setup time for each case. If you want optimization you need to analyse the desired result .
@@AnsysTutor so that means set up the parameter without changing the design model diameters , it will run by itself right ? by set the "P" at diameter we dont need to run twice ?
only you need to iterate once ,and save , while saving it will ask "save the setting for current & future calculation" , only these no of iterations will be repeated in each design points. Only difference is you dont need to open the fluent again & again , the parametric setup will load the mesh , will put the BCs and will iterate itself.
Thank you very much for the tutorial, it helps a lot. I have a question, in this tutorial we have created parameters for inlet velocity, inlet temperature, outlet temperature etc. but what about designing dimensions of our model? For example can we similarly create parameters for diameter of the cold inlets and after post processing, we change the value of diameters and operate analysis with these values? Thanks in advance.
Yes you can also vary the geometry using parametric , to know the detail procedure watch out tutorial on critical thickness of insulation, here is the link ruclips.net/video/Scg05a4yR1U/видео.html
Late to the party, thank you for the video. I have a question. Can I monitor the residual or any value of interest during the parametric study? I am blinded during the whole process and don't know if my case actually converges.
Hi sir i have a really important question. I got ur point that it saves case setup time. but lets say i run for 7000 iterations, and iterations took 8 hours and then I varied lets say mass flow rate 10 times in parametric study. it will re-iterate to give us results in parametric table so wouldn't it require a huge amount of time to run 7000 10 times. how much time it takes usually? will it take the same 8hrs+8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8 =80 hrs,? or it will take less time than first iterations? also one more thing, we encounter situations where when we change input BC lets say in my case flowrate, it diverges or confronts reverse flow, wouldn't it stop the result? or the parametric study will give results whatsoever?
Yes, it would take that 80 hours of time. It only saves the time of the user for the BC setup each time. If you don't have any divergence it would not stop even though it's a reverse flow warning.
Thanks for this tutorial. I have a question concerning the initialization in a parametric study... In the case of simulating VOF, the other phase is defined by patching the zone in the initialization, However, for the parametric study I don't know how to patch and initialize
Thank you so much for your video, it is really hard find information like this, have a great day!
Thank you.
Excellent video. I was struggling to understand how to do an optimal parameter search. Thanks man!
A trick: watch movies at flixzone. Been using it for watching lots of of movies recently.

You need not select "keep this settings for all future calculations" while closing the fluent.
really useful.....good work

there might be a change in some decimal places, so try to increase the decimal places, try with some different parameters and check.
@@AnsysTutor Thank you for the quick reply. I will try that, I am sure it's something simple I have overlooked

Use transient table data. See our tutorial on Pulsatile flow.
What is the meaning of 'add frozen' in the design modeler and why did you use it after generating the body?
Add frozen option makes the body separate from the previous created body. It keeps them as a different part. Whereas "Add material' option joins the new geometry with the previous one.

you directly updated a specific design point for getting output velocity, does not it require re-iteration at every new design point?

I think his meaning is whether it need to calculate after the parameter setting finished and update
@@AnsysTutor you can do it by duplicate case :D

In parametric study we cant monior the residuals, however the residuals vs iteration plot would be similar in all the different parameters.
What is the meaning of 'retain' in the parametric setting? If I don't check the retain button, what happen?
It will keep writing the result data if you select retain option. If you will not select that, you might lose the results data obtained.
how can i inject moist air instead of dry air
Use water vapour as the material, instead of air.

i guess, Patching might not work with parametric setup. You might need a UDF for that.
For parametric analysis, no parameter tab is appearing in my model (fluent) even after the solution is completed
Help me through it
Have you open the fluent in workbench or in solver mode.?

You can change the inlet velocity using velocity components . Detail procedure shown in this tutorial :

I want to insert new expression to fluent, in order to make a parameter study include this expression how can I do that?
You can select the "new expression option" that while assigning BC. Like what I had shown as changing BCs for new parameters.
