    Your video is very useful and systematically explained. To check convergence, also add one or more monitor points using report definition option. If you make habit of using one or more monitor points then it will be proper way of verifying convergence

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  4 года назад +1

      report definition will only show the desired output result. It might not control the convergence, I am right.?

      @shyammenon5298 4 года назад

      @@AnsysTutor Sometimes residual goes below the prescribed convergence criteria that doesn't mean that solution is converged. To verify convergence we must create one or more monitor points using report definition option. When the property such as avg. pressure or temp assigned to the monitor points reaches steady constant value then only we can surely say that solution is converged. Sometimes monitor points also Don't reach steady valur in such case we can conclude that solution can never reach steady state and such problem should be solved by transient model. Example vortex shedding behind cylinder.

    what exactly is surface nusselt number and how is this different from regular nusselt number. Because nusselt is convective heat transfer to conductive heat transfer in a fluid medium. Which confuses me as what exactly are we finding by surface nusselt number. Because nusselt number helps define type of flow happening in of fluid domain.

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  3 года назад

      Both are same, only in fluent its name has been given as "surface Nusselt number " as its a purely surface phenomena. By the help of Reynolds number you can define the type of flow.

    Thank you for the well explained video :)
    By naming fluid side wall as 'Pipe wall' in Ansys-Mesh and without specifying anything in Fluent doesn't makes it adiabatic wall?
    and, if you have two sided wall zones (both are solid) with different material, which one will be shadow wall? because this is important to specify the material for respective wall during boundary condition assignment!

    • @AnsysTutor
      @AnsysTutor  4 года назад +3

      yes ,it will became adiabatic wall as in fluent the default wall Boundary condition setting is that. But its always recommended to check all the boundary conditions that were assigned by solver itself, in case of two solid wall & in all case even if in fluid solid wall case you can check the adjacent cell zone to see which one belongs to which cell one. You can find this in the wall Boundary condition option.

For example, Based on the Dittus equation, the nusselt number for Reynolds number 10000 and water fluid, it's about 75. But, in this video the flow is laminar and it should be lower than the 75!!
    Could you please share a video for validation of the nusselt number with the Dittus-boelter equation? Thanks a lot.

    • @KILLER76522
      @KILLER76522 2 года назад

      I believe the reason the Nu is so large is due to the way ANSYS Fluent calculates h. The values are artificially inflated because the reference temperature it selects when computing h = q/(T_wall - T_ref) is not the mean fluid temp, T_m, but rather the temperature at the centroid of the cell closest to the wall. This gives a smaller T_wall - T_ref than expected, and thus a larger h. This video does a great job of explaining it: ruclips.net/video/PuTl98d0iZ0/видео.html

      @serdartorun244 4 года назад

      it is like a double pipe but they are rectangle. One is larger, the other is smaller and also at the bottom side of the larger rectangle there is a convection from hot gas side. There is a conduction from larger rectangle to smaller one and there is also a convection from smaller rectangle inner surface to the fluid inside the inner rectangle. By the way, all flows are turbulent. I share link that contains the geometry of the flow. www.google.com/search?q=regenerative+cooling&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwixnr2HzeXqAhUXO-wKHXicBScQ2-cCegQIABAC&oq=regenerative+cooling&gs_lcp=ChJtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1pbWcQAzIECCMQJzIECCMQJzIECAAQEzIECAAQEzIECAAQE1CqB1inEGCeE2gAcAB4AIABuwGIAcIHkgEDMC42mAEAoAEBwAEB&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-img&ei=b60aX_GqMZf2sAf4uJa4Ag&bih=719&biw=393&client=ms-android-xiaomi-rev1&prmd=inv#imgrc=CjRKxRHV3kKOZM

    Hello! Thanks for the video! I have a question... I'm doing a model of a square mini channel (hydraulic diameter of 0.001 m). The problem is that when I compare the pressure drop of the model with experimental results there is a huge difference (the model pressure drop is too high in comparation of the experiment), and I can't figure why. Basically, I did something similar shown in the video. Do you have any idea of what could have happened? Thank you!!

    • @AnsysTutor

      Check the units of the model first. If you had done it correctly then check for any reversed flow warning during iteration process. If there is a reversed flow, you need to correct the meshing or create some developmental length.
