ANSYS Fluent Tutorial | Conjugate Heat Transfer in a Rectangular Channel with Protrusions | Part 1/2

  • There is a conjugate heat transfer in a rectangular channel, in which there are some Rectangular protrusions aligned at an angle of 45 degrees to the flow velocity. Water enters at a velocity of 0.00835m/s & Temp of 295 K, there is a constant heat flux from the heater wall at a 12500 W/m^2. Find out the surface Nusselt number & Skin friction coefficient on the heater surface.

    Hello, Thanks for your videos, I would like to know how can I establish Heat flux as boundary condition over the solid surface without decoupling with the fluid zone? If you could help me I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advance.

      You can out the heat flux boundary condition on the shadow wall generated. If its a heat source you can take enable the source term option to give input to the domain.

    For meshing it is showing the liscence is not available for this application, what should I do?

      You should open one program at a time.

      Use adaptive sizing option with a resolution upto 7.

    my question is so simple but i can't get over with it. I am doing exact same thing with you when i am sketching (4:30 and so) but when i extrude it, it doesnt give me a body, but 2 parallel planes with 4 mm height, normal to rectangular prism

    If we want to do the analysis without protrusion , can we follow the same procedure in this without the protrusion part ?

      geometry is coincidental, so meshing is not happening

    When i select the rotate option the selected edges disappears why it's happening?

    How you are selecting all the solid parts and making one part in boolean operation

      Boolean operation is different thing and making the solids into one part is different process. In boolean operation parts mix with other without any separating boundary wall, it becomes a single entity .

      Just hold ctrl key and select all the parts , right click- make one part.

    Is inflation required around the protrusions to better estimate the heat transfer

      I tried doing that , but there seems to be a problem with meshing , it results in a stair step mesh and I get errors on fluent about all cell zones being fluid and it gives me warning that I can't simulate using heater plate as a solid

    Is there a specific reason you use Design modeler and not space claim? I am trying to simulate a part heating inside an auto-clave, but I cant get the coupled wall to work, it looks like there is no interaction between the solid and the fluid. (great videos by the way)

      I am familiar with design modeller, thats why I use it for most of the simulation. There should not a contact region between the parts. If present then delete it to get the heat transfer in between.

      @@AnsysTutor i mean box heating with one fluid inside the box other inside the tube... pls i am facing too much problems in creating so. either 2D or 3D
