Yes, I want a video on the SU-47 Berkut The first time I got aware of the prototype's existence was whe I bought a 1:72 scale airfix model of it during a school trip to Estonia in 2002.
Would be so cool to have a person from outside the shitshow that is military 'documentary' being a tiny bit more eager to do its recherche neutral and not just copy paste all the headlines of one particular media heavy side (i promise there will always be enough real stuff to shit on RU). Repeat things like 'A radar cross section like object XY' is so incredibly dumb that it hurts. This one number tells you nothing about the birds actual ability to go unnoticed by radar, as these would be a list of figures about all goddamn angles centimeter by centimeter. F-22 have a golden zone of being well covered from the absolut front, but loose on all other angles. Also the expected enemy of that bird uses other sensors as well, spoting the bird without problems, so the radar cross section of a golfball or whatever is pretty irrelevant. Btw. the same way the cross section of the SU-57 doesn't matter much as this bird isen't a fighter/bomber, but a e-warfare hub and commando unit for Ochotnik drones. So that's a whole different question (of they deliver on that question or not - but that's not the point). Also F-22/35 both are first strike weapon that ... just shouldn't go over terrain covered by any sort of anti-air setup, because that'll ruin the show pretty quickly. If by some miracle crossing that zone, the're limited to ther interanl weapon bays, holding only AIM-120 missiles of middle range and aren#t fit to stand electronic defensive emasures - as was proven in an indian/pakistani conflict involving an aged Mig-21 and a F-16 with AIM-120, having the F-16 firing two missiles and got both jammed by the old Mig before that one return fire with short range missile and down the pakistani bird. So both birds are entangled in rushed propaganda warfare and massive industrial corruption, with one of the two nations having the excuse of we all see them in exactly that way (and they had the honesty to fall apart). The other one is today even worse in both corruption and technology but still benefit from decades of propaganda superiority. So maybe we could get rid of this boomer bias and have a bit less BS in your timelines. That would be epic and honestly appreciated. PS: The problems of the new F's are more than just interesting - the're pretty entertaining imho.
The F-22 was the Airforce’s Dreadnought moment. A weapon so far in advance of anything else in existence that it made everything else obsolete overnight.
@@hillbillysceptic1982 well that is true. But lot of the subsystem was co developed. F14 and F15 share a lot of features and some components. My point being that the F14 was insanly better than anything before it.
And ironically its scheduled for retirement starting 2030 while being replaced by a new version of the F15 which was originally supposed to be replaced by the F22 :D
@@TheDude50447The F-22 is not scheduled for retirement as a platform until atleast 2040. The only thing that was being considered for retirement were some of the older training jets.
@@DBZHGWgamer As said the F22 is already being retired. First the AF would retire everyone of them today if they got the chance. They also didn't make that many in the first place and then some of them out of that contract were static's (don't fly), trainers and few have been crashed beyond recovery. So there is not that many left. Also as said some are nearing 30 years old and have gone past their shelf life (flight hours) so the pilots do flight sims instead of flying planes. Not to mention they cost more to support than any other plane in the AF's inventory.
The only build prototype had no weapons bay doors, just a metal sheet who covered it because the weapons bay was used for the test equipment. Would there have been money further prototypes would have been build ant approx from the 3rd one they would have functional weapons bay. . It is described in the Book about the MiG MFI and Su-47 written by Yefim Gordon and Dmitri Komissarov. The Production MiG-44 would had have a weapon bay for 4 pieces of weapons (like Air to Air missiles) and 4 Wingpylons
Thats extremely hard to say. The F22 isnt invisible to radar as often implied. Its just much harder to track and lock. Chances increase the closer you are. Its actually speculated that interceptors like the Mig 31 with their huge radars would likely be able to lock and fire on the raptor from well out of Amraam range. Of course nothing is really known to the public but the limited range of the Amraam still makes it much more vulnerable than necessary.
@@TheDude50447 the 22 and 35 is indeed invisible to radar to a certain range, and for aircraft outside of the 35 that im aware of no other aircraft has the radar to detect the 22 and even then I am not 100% positive the 35 can either. The range of the 22 and 35 to be detected on hi-fidelity radar and filtered to is near impossible and the range isn't known but its so close both can do their job without you knowing until the doors open.. When it comes to what is basically just consumer radars they can detect them no issue.. and everything else in existence that size.. they're also very poor quality and don't do good at getting a lock etc etc.
@@TheDude50447 No one who has any idea what they are talking about thinks that the Mig-31 could spot the F-22 out of range of the AMRAAM. That isn't speculation; that is pure BS. Divide by 10 and you'll be closer. BTW, the AIM-120D has a range of about 150 km, which is longer than nearly all actual A2A missile kills in history.
@@TheDude50447The MiG 31's longest range radar can detect a jet with a radar cross section of 19m^2 at 200km. The radar cross section of an f22 from head on would be about 1cm^2. The range of a newer amraam is atleast 160km. Suffice to say, that claim is almost certainly BS.
Actually the su47 was a technology demonstrater that did ask the question what if the wings were swept forward but was never meant to go into full production especially after they found out that the plane really couldn't go above mach 1 without the wings wanting to flip back the other way
It was not just a technology demonstrator (like the X-29). It was a prototype of a combat aircraft. A technology demonstrator doesn't need an IR/laser optical targeting system, ECM /radar Sensors, data link antennas and 2 Weapon bays. All this thing the Su-47 prototype had already. And no , it's possible with forward swept wings to fly supersonics to X-29 top speed was M1.7 and the Su-47 was build to o like most oft the Su-27 Flanker Family to M2.5
Admittedly the wings problem was easily solved with more robust wings. The US never adopted the design because we were already making planes that were aerodynamically unstable already. It was just not needed. The Su-47 asked a question whose answer just is not relevant right now. But if the US or someone were to build something like the fictional F-37 Switchblade (see movie "Stealth"), swept forward wings may be necessary to allow a hypersonic plane, speeds used for long range "fast travel" and recon, the ability to maneuver at more typical sub sonic to supersonic speeds or delivery of some precision ordinance. Much like the F-14 a plane that could literally do everything you might ask a fighter to do. Both the F37 and F-14 were Naval Carrier based heavy fighters.
@swisstestpilot Yes, it was based on the su 27, which is exactly what sukhoi was doing, trying to keep costs down and using existing technology so the government would be more interested (even though they weren't). And yes, it can fly above Mach, but if you try to maneuver, especially aggressively, the wing did try to flip the other way. The x29 was not a technology demonstrater, it was an experimental aircraft, whence the "x", cause we found documents on the He 162 and we wanted to know what advantages it had.
@DocWolph True that we already had good aircraft that do really well, but make the wings more robust actually adds weight to the airframe, which is what nasa found out. Sukhoi made the wings out of carbon fiber, which lightened the wings and made them stronger but found the same issues. And those issues are the x29 and su47 are currently the definition of ahead of their time, because in order to make the wings stronger without making them heavier, it will need a material that currently doesn't exist and current materials are too expensive. There was a theory of rolling the carbon fiber a certain direction so it would resist the stresses, but we don't know if sukhoi has tested that since they did take the project in-house and as far as I know they haven't shared anything else yet.
It was the answer not to the F22 but the Euro Fighter at the time. The media and the US government is trying to hide the fact senior old fart white guys transferred the F22 technology to third for fourth party because of greed...Must have been the security guys and NON STEM Support people.
Yeah, how’s that going for the Ukrainians? NATO:yeah the Soviet Union doesn’t exist anymore UKRAINE;uh, yeah you guys want to do your fucking job and help us?
They were both cancelled. F-22 managed to get a token number off the production line before it was cancelled but it could never be relied upon in a full-scale war because there are just not enough of them. F-35 has outpaced the F-22 in meaningful ways, such as off-boresight missile launch capabilities with IR launch and track and sheer production volume.
@@intrepidpursuit the only reason F-22 was cancelled was the collapse of the USSR. Had the USSR persisted, that wouldn’t have happened, and the F-22 would have been manufactured at far greater scale.
@loganb7059 Not true. It's range is pitiful, it was built for close quarters dogfighting but long range missles and hypersonic weapons became available meaning the logistics of simply moving the plane 'in range' made it vulnerable. It also has extremely high maintenance costs. You can forgive those for the B2 bomber but not so much a dogfighter.
I love how their answer was something that had no stealthy characteristics whatsoever. Its like the Soviet High command forgot that BVR missiles existed, were already reasonably accurate, and had the MiG OKB to design something whose only usefulness was in being an aerial target for AMRAAMs.
Yup. The latest variants of the Flanker still "puts all it's points" into dog fighting. The funny thing is that even when doing that it can't outmaneuver the F-22. Not that it would ever be put to the test. At this rate I expect the US to put a big whacking AWACS radar on the B-52 and make it launch AIM-174Bs itself to make sure nothing can disturb the F-22 pilots from having fun with their training.
If the start of Ukraine-Russia conflict wasn’t anymore apparent, Russian doctrine is still very stuck in the cold war era. Luckily for Russia, Ukraine was also stuck in cold war era doctrine but with much more limited resources and have only very recently slowly shift.
The flanker is fat, and its engines are weak, thats why it isnt quiet as manouverable as it could be. Its still on par with the much lighter F16V, so I'd say its impressive. Now though with everyone and their mother getring F35s, it really is starting to become obsolete.
Wow another expert whos totally convinced that stealth is the only thing an aircraft needs to be competitive like that time the americans were convinced the age of dogfighting was over so they deployed the f4s against mig21 in vietnam and the results were predictable f4s getting shot down left and right. Because BVR MISSILES guys they are the next big thing that totally cant be tricked with EW
@@yulfine1688 The F-22 has a smaller RCS than the F-35. The F22 is the one with the signature of a bumblebee while the F-35 has the golf ball signature or thereabouts.
@@pkpnyt4711 yes im very aware.. and both to radar are near invisible because hi fidelity struggles to really filter in and actually receive the data to notice the aircraft let alone create a lock and so on. Low fidelity on the otherhand can see them both technically along with basically anything and everything else in existence as such you can't filter it out and its quality even if you somehow did is atrocious and wouldnt be able to lock etc.
I think it actually looks a bit more like the Chengdu J20 delta canard twin engine twin rail only difference is the intakes (ofc we all know that planes existence is pretty much China stealing f22 plans and not knowing how to actually make it work)
Unless they have dramatically (impossibly so) improved their RAM that thing would more than likely have had the RCS of a school bus with that square front air intake and those canards.
Not to mention the external hardpoints All gen 4.5 jets (gripen, rafaele etc) have some aspects of stealth technology but its nothing compared to dedicated stealth like of the f22
@@worldoftancraft the 117 and 22 is a hard one to say.. and the 117 was never technically retired.. the 22 is considered the most stealth with the RCS of a bumble bee at least to the public, the 117 b-2 etc well.. we don't have rcs for those either. RCS also depends on multiple factors, due to the design of the 117 the RCS is probably in general better than the 22 except for when the aircraft is exposing one of its angled surfaces. The 22 supposedly has a superior ram coating, a 117 however when its bomb bay doors were opened is far less stealthy than a 22 and even 35 maybe as one was shot down because of it allowing the lock however the missile shot was more or less lucky chance within the time given. From what i read the 117 was tracked 4 separate times before they fired so the sam locked and lost lock multiple times, which means the 117 is actually less stealthy and due to its design the doors opening really ruins its stealth and its angles etc also make it worse when its apporaching since the angled faces are more exposed. the 117 was supposedly by mind you a s-125 was seen at around 20km and at 14km the sam was able to engage. We guess the RCS is between 0.1m squared and 1m squared or most likely around 0.3m squared. The 22 is suggested to have a 0.0001-0.0003m squared rcs and the 35 is around 0.005m squared making the 22 the most stealthy aircraft followed by something like the b-2 and the b21 to which the b21 is rumored to possibly be even smaller than an insect on radar but far as I know the public knowledge is its the same as the f22.
Yes, please Simon do a video about the Berkhut. I don't care about sides or politics of it when it comes to design and just admiring the aircraft, it is to me one of the most visually badass jets ever and seeing a modernized take on it with proper thrust vectoring etc. would have been really something to see. Cheers and keep up the great work!
I still really like flying the 1.44 in mobile (old school) Strike Fighters. And to be fair the biggest missile-magnet in that game is the MiG-25 Foxbat. 10 seconds in you got a dozen Sparrows & Sidewinders heading towards your flying apartment building, then a dozen more but hey! Don't worry there's 3 whole flares to deflect the bukkake
"it might have even beaten the Raptor" 1:00 calling bullshit right now Even today there are very few aircraft able to do what the Raptor is capable of It will shred everything at BVR and its only limiting factor is literally how many AMRAAM's it has
I guess F-22 specifically shreds everything when doing a notch, right? In which it can't see a shit since +-60° of radar cannot allow it 90° sideways scanning Oh, I understand, this is not important. Because who would use ECM, trying to jam your missiles and the GPS so the missiles would prematurely switch to their little radar. F-22 is dead on arrival. This thing was a corner cut even in terms of its sensors package, yet, have received the very needed heavier wing. Why would they strengthen the wing? Well, so it can bear external fuel tanks, the thing you could only dream about for a stealth plane

Only reason inverted swept wings are a bygon development is because of thrust to weight ratio and thrust vectoring. That's why you see it come up so much in the Era of pre supersonic flight speeds. There's actually a fairly decent argument for inverted wings for low speed attack aircraft, besides the structural limitations.
No it wouldn't have. The only time in training that the F22 is "shot down" is in conditions that were so far against the F22, it would be an insult if the adversary didn't get the kill. Clean optimal build? F22 Snipes anything out of the sky before they realize it's even there. Russia still does not have any stealth technology besides their stealth tanks that are never seen on the battlefield.
the SU-57 is, in fact, stealth technology. sure, russia doesn't have very many and they seem to be too scared to actually use them in combat, but it exists and does incorporate stealth features which disproves your claim. I don't really understand where the claim even comes from to begin with, considering that stealth features really aren't all that complicated. stealth shaping alone goes a decently long way already, radar absorbing paint is where it gets a bit more complicated but it still isn't some sci-fi technology. the main issues with it are cost, and russia really doesn't have all that much military industry that is capable of manufacturing aircraft at a high quality standard, cost effectively, in large numbers. they still have the technology, they just lack the facilities and resources to make use of it.
@@Sahtoovi No, it's not stealth. Those two MASSIVE engines in the back with nozzles big enough to give it the radar cross-section of a barn, for starters.

Currently flying 5 steath aircraft if you count the gen 6 that is under testing currently and soon will be operating 6 different stealth aircraft. The US currently has 900 stealth aircraft not counting the test program aircraft and ones that lost contract bids. Meanwhile in Russia, they had 10 su-57's but lost 2 to Ukraine and are completely afraid to bring them out for the world to see. Probably afraid that the west will see how far behind they are on steath. There is always a 30 year gap in technology. They are trying to match an airplane that has officially been flying for 27 years "probably longer" that almost got retired. Instead the raptor is actually getting big upgrades to bring it to current technological standards. Russia is about to be further behind😂😂😂
Something I heard someone say recently applies to this video. The Soviets, and later Russia overstate their capabilities and assume the West is bluffing as well. Meanwhile the west actually creates incredibly capable weapons and vehicles and UNDERstates their capability.
True. The West always took USSR/Russia seriously. But the last time we actually believed them, we built the Eagle to counter the Foxbat. Russia Tech is dangerous, but avg 2 generations out of date and badly maintainted. With caveats; Sub Brief explained their SSGN missles did have 'hive mind' programming decades before we did. That would have been highly problematic. Good thing their subs themselves were poorly maintained.
So capable you were boasting how they wer basically indestructible only to end up as exhibits people all over russia can look at laugh and take pictures of, like some sort of old cars on a scrapyard
The short stall is only good for dumping every advantage you might have had in a rate fight for the hope that the adversary doesn't either go a different direction than a straight overshoot and/or doesn't have a wingman waiting to put a missile dead center in your fuselage. Oh, it looks great at airshows. Almost forgot that part.

I love how people call this a stealth fighter or 5th gen. There's almost nothing stealthy in its design nor really even low observable (just look at the blocky air intakes). It seems it MAY have been a 4th Gen+, most similar to the Eurofighter or Rafale.
I would even say it is only 4th Gen, the Rafale and the Eurofighter, have atleast some stealth capabilities. They have radar absorbent coatings and are at least rounded, in addition, both aircraft are significantly newer than the Russian would have been, which is why they are/would be superior to the Mig in other characteristics to.
@@TheodorMac It can be argued the Mig could have been a 4th gen+. It first flew 6 years AFTER the Eurofighter's first flight. Eurofighter isn't that low observable (blocky air intakes, vertical tail with blocky protrusions on it, Rafale has a better low observable profile). And if it had modern avionics, AESA radar, datalink etc., which it would have likely had something like the SU35's systems eventually. Then the next question IRT the Mig is the use of RAM and other radar return reducing efforts which likely would have been fairly poor. Even the SU57 has issues with exposed rivets, pitot tubes etc. Russian stealth is barely a thing.
The MiG 1.44 would likely have not even been a match for European 4.5th gen designs like Rafale and Typhoon. It's a testament to how far behind the West the late USSR was, that when attempting to compete with a 5th gen fighter program, they produced something with more in common with 4th gen fighters. F-22 arrived so far ahead of all goobal competituon that, even with it being so difficult to upgrade, it remains the top of the game 30 years later.

@@shaun469 Well at least in terms of Vietnam a really good part of that was the first version of the M16 had serious design problems that just made it unable to work properly with the ball powder ammunition that was in widespread use and even after the problem was recognized good ol' bureaucracy decided it was better to save money than to bother fixing it for far too long. You don't have to look hard to find plenty of war stories where they found fellow soldiers dead on the ground with their guns jammed, or people going through multiple rifles because they would have one jam in combat and toss it down and move on to another one. I mean just for starters one thing they did wrong was tell everyone the gun was "self cleaning" and thus didn't give out gun cleaning kits with the original M16's, which often resulted in barrels that would be so clogged with crud that you couldn't even see through them (Shocker, this is NOT good for a gun's reliability and general function). There is cases of soldiers writing home asking for their old gun cleaning equipment that was with their hunting gear or at least a ram rod to help clear bad jams. The M16A1 fixed all these problems, but much later than they should have been fixed. These issues were noticed far before the rifles ever saw service, but the people in charge decided it wasn't really worth fixing at the time. They saved some money temporarily and paid for it in the blood of American soldiers. No one was ever charged for this, mainly because the group set up to investigate the situation found that it was near impossible to really point at any one person for blame.
especially given their "mighty" stealth fighter the SU-57 doesn't have a radar cross section it has a god damn radar zip code. The first time I got aware of the prototype's existence was whe I bought a 1:72 scale airfix model of it during a school trip to Estonia in 2002.
A small note, the forward swept wings of the SU-47 were no joke and NASA used on experimental aircraft.
@megaprojects9649 The first Raptor (YF-22) flew in September of 1990. You're 7 years off.
Hell Yak the Berkut 47 such a B@D@$$ looking jet the world rarely ever sees unless you live in Russia
The F-22 was the Airforce’s Dreadnought moment. A weapon so far in advance of anything else in existence that it made everything else obsolete overnight.
And Obama and friends stop the production line and destroyed the tooling after less than a 100 were produced.
I would say that was the F14
F14 was Navy
@@hillbillysceptic1982 well that is true. But lot of the subsystem was co developed.
F14 and F15 share a lot of features and some components.
My point being that the F14 was insanly better than anything before it.
Just think how much more advanced than _that_ the F23 would have been.
It's almost unbelievable that the F22 has been in the skies for nearly 30 years.

@@DBZHGWgamer Starting 2030, not will all be retired 2030.

I literally said that out loud when this dude said "It might've even beaten the Raptor in the sky."
Answer what? There is no question asked. I'm pretty sure you stole this comment from Found and Explained's video about the MiG 1.44
The fact it carried its weapons externally means it would have blown up in prodigious numbers after being shot by a raptor it never saw
A breakdown on the SU-47 would be good to watch for sure! Maybe comparing it to the F-16 derivatives :)
lol the 3rd guy to talk about the Su-47. i think there is a fanboi crew for that indeed sexy plane!
F16XL was so promising 😢
@swisstestpilot The USA doesn't add those things to a technology demonstrator.
The USSR loves their one off test units.

The only thing the Mig 1.44 was ever ahead of the F-22 on was in probability to program cancellation.
I’ll give the 1.44 this, in theory, it could have competed. But then you remember it was Soviet built, so they couldn’t afford it.
@loganb7059 Not true.

As my dad might have said: “It’s made for selling, not for flying.”

Another expert on RCS in the comments. What's the most stealthy plane? Choose one: F-35, F-22, F-117.

The mock to bumblebee reference makes me laugh every time. 😆

@@AllThingsCubey Meanwhile, Leo 2, M1A1 and Challenger 2 showed how West was far behind Soviet Union in tank technology.
@@BojanPeric-kq9et Excuse me? Ukraine was sent downgraded M1A1s and Challenger and Leopard models that are, at minumum, 20-25 years old, yet even the very latest models of T-90M and T-80BVM have literally been AVOIDING engagements when western MBTs are spotted in a sector of the battlefield, because Russia knows they're significantly superior vehicles and designed specifically to demolish shitty T-series tanks in head-to-head combat.
Russia has so far only destroyed these vehicles using landmines, and drones/ ATGMs hitting their sides or rear. Any tank will be defeated if hit like this, as demonstrated on the Russian side by the literal HUNDREDS of T-90M and T-80BVM wrecks littering the fields of Ukraine.
The proof of the superiority of the western MBTs is that mod.2022 and mod.2023 Russian tanks (the very latest models available from the factories) are too afraid of 25 year old Leopard 2A6s to even attempt a confrontation with them on even terms.

This. The x-29 was drastically more advanced than the Berkut. People just obsess over the 47 because it's different, because it crashed into the ground.😂
@@hopper131 The X-29 was a LEGO project put together compared to the Berkut which was massively more advanced in every conceivable manner. Check your references.
@@kikiskyriakides3196the X-29 was a pure research project rather than the Su-47’s attempt at a WuWa without having actually done the research on forward swept wings.
@@kikiskyriakides3196 explain, what was so advanced about the su47? If I remember right it basically has avionics from a su30, nothing ground breaking there. And if it was supposed to be a tech demonstrator, like the x29, if we compare the tech in US next production fighter f22 vs Russia was it su35? Which isnt "new" beside basically avionics, I'd say US was a notch or two above. But in reality it's not like you or I really know the tech either jet had I was born hardly a year before su47 so I definitely wasnt there
@@Justanotherconsumer My God man.., don't jump into replying unless you have solid knowledge on the matter. The Su-47 is (according to all credible sources) an Experimental Aircraft/Technology Demonstrator, the first to really look into the potential of Forward Swept for series production..., unlike the X-29 which was indeed a dead end research project. The Soviet Belyaev Forward Swept Gliders BP-2 & BP-3 carried out test flights in 1934/1935.., that's 50 years before the X-29 (First Flight 14 December 1984). The Soviet Belyaev DB-LK (First Flight (FF) in 1940) preceded the X-29 by 44 years. The German Junkers Ju 287 (FF 8 August 1944) preceded the X-29 by 40 years. The Soviet Experimental Rocket Aircraft Tsybin LL-3 (FF December 1947, with over 100 recorded test flights, 10 of which powered, reached a speed of 1,200km/h (or Mach 0.97)) preceded the X-29 by 37 years. The German-Soviet OKB-1 EF 131 (FF 23 May 1947) and OKB-1 140 (FF 30 September 1948) preceded the X-29 by 36 years. The German Hamburger Flugzeugbau HFB 320 Hansa Jet (FF 21 April 1964 with 47 airframes production total) preceded the X-29 by 20 years. So you see the X-29 project was in reality the US playing catch up. Hell..., even the Polish delved into Forward Swept wings pre WWii with their PWS Z-17, Z-18 and Z-47 projects.
Not mentioning the one or two engine concept, the most comparable western fighter jet, even from top-view is the Swedish Gripen.

Do the Su-47. I remember one of my favorite books as a child in the mid 80s included a timeline of flight, displaying the Su-47 as the "near future". It's wing design fired my imagination and even inspired various toys of the era in GI Joe and/or Transformers.
A video of this aircraft would be wonderful!

It has become obvious recently, Russia over states hardware capabilities, the U.S. under states hardware capabilities.
Everyone forgets how the us performed in veitnam or iraq or Afghanistan.
@@shaun469 How did it perform?

😅 right just like the foxbat was gonna beat.... hmm what was the foxbat supposed to beat again? The Soviets were extremely surprised that f15 was actually capable of fight what the foxbat was supposed to be....only for us to findout the foxbat was incapable of nearly any of its claimed abilities
MIG 25 was an answear to the SR71Blackbird because Soviets really hated spy planes flying over their airspace. Later they built one of the best planes of the cold war MIG31 who will take over the role of MIG25.And the answer to the F15 was a SU27 later they made SU30 and SU35
@jovannovakovic2835 yes. The mig25 that was hyped up to thr moon. Which was the reason for the us designing the f15, that actually had the specs the mig25 was supposed to have only we later found out that the mig25 didnt meet any of its claimed specs.
Mind you the su27/30/35 are still playing catchup to the f15 a 48yr old airframe with a 104-0 kd ratio, that has never been downed by aerial combat. The new f15ex upgrade has better avionics electronics jamming and performance than the su35. The f15 platform is twice the age of the su35 and is still a better aircraft in nearly every metric.
It might have beat it in a game of Top Trumps...
@@trailblazer632 I have to disagree the f15 and SU35 are verry comaprablle And the MIG25 yeah it was bad but they built the MIG31 which still is one of the best interceptors. And one thing MIG25 dowened the F18 durring the Gulf war and that was export model
@jovannovakovic2835 the su35 is 20yrs younger than the f15. If it wasnt at least comparable that would just be sad. However the current f15ex upgrade is making the old f15 model obsolete, by extension also making the su35 obsolete.
Its not like the mig31 has many competitors in the intercept role. Being "one of the best" when there less than 10 models in that class isnt saying a lot. What does the downing of an f18 carrier based aircraft have to do with the f15?
