I actually really like this episode. Even though nothing actually happens it makes me reminisce about the older seasons and it’s a bit nostalgic for me.
People supposedly detest clip shows, and yet RUclips is essentially clip shows of the greatest moments of TV episodes for the people who just want to watch the funny parts. Really, until VCRs (and before that, before syndication), clip shows were the best way to relive all the funny parts of something. And even after people could get tapes/DVDs/MP4s of episodes, there is some validity to clip shows. When done on a theme, they can help you recap a relationship or look at how things have changed over time. The Simpsons' early clip shows were terrific when it came to that. They don't all have to be "Hey, remember that time we went on vacation in France and Mallory got kidnapped by diamond thieves?" followed by wavy dream sequence transitions.
Not a fan of this episode but hearing what the producer said did change my perspective. I never considered the way budget and shooting schedule played a role in it's conception
I love this episode. I've never skipped, nor will I ever skip it. It's like a best of The Office, what's not to like? And that Jim/Pam montage always makes me tear up so, suck it 😂. I really enjoyed the interviews, awesome work as usual!
But have you ever seen Dwight & computron in the same room? My theory is that he’s in the annex on the phone with him coming through the reception speakerphone & he’s just googling while he’s calculating
The more I watch videos about The Office, the more it kinda toes the line between something that exists and something that doesn't. There is something wonderful about how when I'm watching this series I forget it is a scripted show. It feels real and relatable, like a true documentary about real people experiencing real events. It is conforting
The Banker has some high points, but it says a lot about an episode when a review of it on RUclips is more amusing than the actual episode. On another note, good job on this one!
I like that you point out that David Costabile was on Breaking Bad and the three crossovers between the two shows. Me, I think it's funny that he played the bureaucrat at the Benghazi embassy in "13 Hours" which starred both John Krasinski and David Denman!
Personally I hate clip shows which is why my favorite episode of the show community is their mocking of clip shows by creating new clips for their clip show
Okay, yeah, I have to admit, I do fast forward through the old clip parts. I watch the parts with the banker in it. There is some cute jokes and set ups. I would love to have a Rain Wilson "Computron" voice for my voice mail.
Awesome that you were able to get an interview with Dave! Great interview and review. The Banker does feel like one of the black sheep of the series, and indeed it is one that I tended to skip when I rewatched the show. However, my most recent viewing of it left me with a better impression than my expectations prepared me for. All of the original content is hilarious, and there was more if it in the episode than I remembered. Since it is evenly dispersed throughout the episode, the clips don't feel like they drag out for too long, which actually makes them more bearable as well. I wouldn't call it the perfect iteration of a clip show -- I recall It's Always Sunny doing it pretty well -- but compared to a clip show from something like Friends or Seinfeld it's vastly more watchable and probably something that I won't skip upon future viewings.
I actually enjoy this episode a good bit but Community's Paradigms of Human Memory and Curriculum Unavailable were funnier and managed to have more to say about the nature of these episodes. But for a greatest hits throwback, this was pretty good. David Rogers seems like a cool guy. His enthusiasm and excitement just recapping the show is infectious.
My 20 yr. old son defends this episode. He thinks it's the doc crews idea of a clip show, which was SUPER common, in all sitcoms in the 80's, 90's, etc. I can forget it is a "documentary" sometimes. It makes sense. Maybe they had a crazy week, with the company blowing up and all. The staff may not have been funny. So they filmed the new banker stuff and put in clips from their library.
I'd still consider the fact that intelligent people don't know how to pronounce the word 'sabre' to be the biggest suspension of disbelief fail that The Office makes in the entire 9 seasons. My long departed mother used to intentionally mispronounce words to add a little comedic vibe to her conversation. And I think even she would have considered 'saab-ray' to be a leap too far.
Would have been surprised if it was scored higher than a 1 out of 5. Besides Computron and substitute Stanley, the episode is pure filler. Even pre-Netflix streaming, this was another "going through the motions" episode .
@@TheLonelySoulja I mean simultaneous heartbreaks in a bunch of kids working for a goal they thought was obtainable...... that's a good reason for it to rub the wrong way 😅😅
There is no such thing as a good clip show, but as far as clip shows go, this one at least had some funny bits as well as a real connection to the season's story arc.
I don't do streaming service and in fact hate, then so I'll like it more than one out of five Wtching characters react to life is right up my ally. The main reason why I like the UK Office alittle more than the US version. .
As far as clip shows go The Office’s was pretty good. Seinfeld’s Clip shows were always just a string of clips you’ve already seen, Friends had too many clip shows that showed clips from the previous season. I’ve always liked clip shows, it’s a nice little reminder of all the moments I really enjoyed when I watched. But it also feels kind of lazy to use an entire 22 minute episode to show stuff that we’ve already seen so whatever.
What a disappointment that a great show like The Office ended up doing one of those awful clip episodes like every single lame sit-com ever. Scrubs did the same thing in their sixth season, which was the point when I stopped watching that show
I have never watched this episode all the way through. Once I figured it was going to be a clip show, I immediately skipped it. Always thought that The Office would one of those shows that wouldn't make a clip show
I actually really like this episode. Even though nothing actually happens it makes me reminisce about the older seasons and it’s a bit nostalgic for me.
My thoughts exactly
Agreed. I thought it was a nice recap of everything that had happened.
I agree
Clip shows are so damn lazy. "Helps with the budget and the schedule" and dissapoints everyone waiting for a new episode.
I love it too also because of Michael trying to make the office look cool
I like how it wasn’t just a “look at how far we’ve come” episode and was a “Toby gets EXTREME ptsd” episode

Season 8 was my skippable episode.
That entire season's vibe just puts a bitter taste in my mouth
Season 9 too, which is arguably worse
Fake fan
Fake fan. Bandwagon!
The Office ended after season 7. The other two are not recognized.
I love the interviews and how much research you do for each episode.
Chris is on a the next level. We think we're a fan but oh boy the depths he goes to get us the content we love is astonishing.
Not a fan of this episode but hearing what the producer said did change my perspective. I never considered the way budget and shooting schedule played a role in it's conception

I like to think this episode is what drove Gale to his life of crime
(Breaking Bad Reference)
Jesse faked gale's death and left him a bit of money but since gale is such a chad he grew that money to that
Lmaooooo
he was a great, short-lived character!
I love this episode, especially the Jim/Pam montage and song.
And GALE!
Boetticher
Wonder if this was before or after Walt took care of him 😅😅
But have you ever seen Dwight & computron in the same room? My theory is that he’s in the annex on the phone with him coming through the reception speakerphone & he’s just googling while he’s calculating
Nooooo. What gave you that wild idea
My favorite part of this episode was learning that Micheal was highest ranked person at Dunder Mifflin
This episode is a nice breather and apart from Computron it gave us the hi-res version of Lazy Scranton!

There’s more for the Wire.
Personally I hate clip shows which is why my favorite episode of the show community is their mocking of clip shows by creating new clips for their clip show
Or the way Sunny did it
Community for the win! That's my office!
"Calculating....calculating.....Pacific!"
easily the best part but mostly a skippable episode for sure!
Anyone who skips episodes needs their fandom revoked.
i love this episode. the cutaways to past incidents are hilarious
I liked this episode. I think sitcoms can get away with 1 when they have been going on for so long. It's not as good when binging the show.
This episode I always liked cause it’s just a compilation of some of the best of the office and it was always a lot of fun
I always felt like this was a victory lap for the show which I mean if anyone deserves it, it's the office

"He's on a Segway, he's talking to Computron, and i feel like..."
"And there's Computron, you can't forget Computron..."
"...Yeah..."
This man is David Cross
The fact I almost barely remember this episode
5:07 bro that is NOT jesse pinkman💀
That Emmy's sketch is just amazing.
just now realized the banker is Gale from breaking bad😂
He's the only reason I like this episode lol
I love this episode because that's Gale Boetticher
After hearing the very practical and understandable reasons I feel like a bit of a jerk for being judgmental abt the episode! Great break down
I just enjoyed seeing Gale Boetticher in this episode 😂
too easy. the banker's name is gale boetticher
Banker is my one of favorites. It's like a funny recap
"I promise not to do a lot of montages"
*Creates Montage Montage*

Chris: I'm not going to do a lot of montages in this one
Also Chris: Does a montage of all this montages
touché
It’s a beautiful goodbye to Dunder Mifflen
I always loved “The Banker” episode because I could see a montage of all my favorite moments!! 🤣🤷🏾♂️🤣

Computron could save us from poluticorn
In a world where I watch Best of (X Show/RUclips Personalities), I actually have grown to appreciate clip shows. :3
This episode is basically the same as the one in 'Friends' where Joey is interviewed by Soap opera digest!
Y'know Computron is the name of a Transformer combiner.
i think it would have been a much more Michel move to say Specific Ocean instead of Pacific
How is a clip show any different from every youtube video about the office?
Your videos are getting better and better. Great job.
Looks at time stamp… It’s actually longer than the episode if you don’t count the clips.
5:00 Hank's laugh though.
Mike segway 6:25 when he hits the forklift

You implement clips of the into these with the expertise of a rapper who really knows how to use samples
Didn't expect this review to turn into Robocop / a horror movie but props for being more interesting than the episode you're reviewing!
This was a nice episode it was kinda like a compilation
Do people skip this episode????? Wtf!!!!
Would have been surprised if it was scored higher than a 1 out of 5.
Besides Computron and substitute Stanley, the episode is pure filler.
Even pre-Netflix streaming, this was another "going through the motions" episode .
I never skip the Banker episode. I almost always skip Scott’s Totts
Scott's totts is just cringe personified lol
Yes it is.. I can’t stand that episode.. I know in universe Michael meant while, but yo that episode rubs me the wrong way for some reason.
@@TheLonelySoulja I mean simultaneous heartbreaks in a bunch of kids working for a goal they thought was obtainable...... that's a good reason for it to rub the wrong way 😅😅
Excuse me??????? This episode is a must watch!!!

I thought the interview went well, actually.
Dave was pretty awesome. We spoke for well over an hour. I'll have an edited and condensed interview, as well as the full interview out soon.
i only watch this episode because i really like the actor David Costabile
The banker's name is Eric Ward! Obviously!
I love this episode. What are you guys smoking

what is a clip show?
Ha obviously the bankers name is Gale Boetticher
video starts 2:21
How do you look more like David cross than David cross?
I feel like people overreacting to the show. It's a comedy. Supposed to be cringe comedy.
Is that gale i see?
yess! i got the trivia 😁
"I'm really proud of you"

- Mulverine
@@Mulverine omg!! just made my day lol
Aren’t you david cross?
Daniel Hardman
Gale Boetticer?
I never watched this episode

Cant wait for the end of season 7 with ROBERT CALIFORNIA
Totally skipped this puff piece episode
Edit: ok had to skip the whole vid, sorry.

Whoa first view lol
Clip episodes are abominations. This is my most hated episode.
I skip this episode everytime. I watch your channel to get recaps and clips.
Computron is worth the price of admission.
