- The ALL NEW JCW Clubman is here and it's packing more performance than ever before! Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine producing 301 HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic with power going to the ground through an AWD system. It's exterior still features the iconic Mini lines but with purposeful performance revisions. On the there is tons of space even for a small car, and upgraded materials. The Clubman is an awesome car. I just got my new custom spec 2020 JCW and I'm lovin it.😎Yes it 'seems' overpriced for a MINI, but when you actually compare it to its primary competitors, the Clubman JCW offers a lot, even for high 40s. 300hp AWD with loads of features and tech, very accommodating interior space, unique hatchback-ish wagon design, and the ability to option it out with racing stripes and accented roof/mirrors in a color of your choice. It really carves out its own class and redefines what a pocket-rocket can be. Coming from an Audi S4 I never thought I would buy a MINI. It was never even on my radar because of the previous lack of power. But with the new beast of an engine, I bought in and don't regret it for a minute. Really enjoying the Clubman. Thanks for the great video review, Joe. Btw fun fact... I actually had spec'd out my Clubman and placed the deposit on the same day you posted this video! 🤙

@@Sean-ov1pr I had a 2010 second gen, piece of Mini garbage. This new one is no different. Mini has all the pretty gadgets snd fancy trim, but ten years from now my Toyota will still be on the road, this Mini junk will be in the salvage yard next to my Mini.

Joe didn’t realise the rear doors have an under rear fender sensor that opens the doors with a sweep of your feet to open the doors when your hands are full. 👍👍
My wife has a two door mini with close to 200bhp and this thing is so much fun to drive that I want one too. The only thing is that I do want 4wd and the clubman offers that and the 300 ponies... yeah baby, I want it! I was checking the ski today, but it seams I go the mini way... it has that appeal and scores high on the cool and fun factor, and has the practicality to it too... specially that most of us do not throw it side ways in corners...
I was looking at the Yaris rn, that has the fun factor but scores really low on the cool factor, and the cheap stickers on it, decrease the cool factor, not add to it... what a shame, mini excels with the cool colours and got just right the fun and the cool factors. I am no bmw fan at all, kind of bothers me the people the brand attracted, but the mini... a hole different story.
You are so right... Needs a manual. I'm tired of car manufactures dropping manual. On the models where no one buys them like minivans I understand. But lately manufacturers have been dropping manuals on models that people want them on (e.g. Corvette C8, GT500)

Ok so every time you do a car review like this you have me looking at cars the same way these days. Also I now see mini's everywhere, what are you doing to me? Just kidding, love the reviews I already have my list of cars from your reviews and the mini takes the final spot out of seven. Whatever you review I'm just going to zonk it or recommend it to someone else....nah I'm lying I'll probably add it to my list. Great review of the mini John Cooper, but for 47K yeah they need electric seating and ventilated seats, it's hot in Florida.
Mini gets my money when they offer this with a stick...

Love this car! I have a used base model 2012 Cooper, but could use a bigger trunk, larger passenger room, and almost three times the horsepower. Strongly considering this for my next car. PS, the center LED ring mimics your RPMs, not sure if you noticed while you were driving.

Raiti's Rides I really tried to like the Mini’s aesthetics, but cannot. There is something really unharmonious with the design. The VW Golf R also has more tuning options and likely residual value.

I like the look and feel of a MINI better, but the golf is probably faster and depreciation is less.

In Thailand "Clubman" price more than 100,000$ (3.5-4 million baht) with manual seat and pop-up head-up display. I think it should be great car and many great option inculde that prices. (MiniClubman=BMW5series on price in thailand)

Joe, I know these are two different cars, but for driving dynamics, which would you choose, this John Cooper mini clubman or the new mustang with the performance package?
I would go with the JCW! It is so easy to toss around.
Love the paint job! So eye catching.
But at $47K and no power or ventilated seats ... deal breaker - in fact at that price should have leather seats!
You can option it with some really nice Leather seats but the JCW Seats are for the sporty look and power seats are available but it just adds more weight.
Also, alcantara is much sexier than most leather options

Are you sure this one had EDC suspension? In Europe you can have it only when you order a car with a set of 18" wheels (19" wheels let you choose only so called "sport suspension" that is not adaptive but regular one).

Actually, Manual/Sport mode is automatic until you trigger a gear change with the paddles. In sport automatic mode, it holds the gear longer for an up shift for better acceleration.
Yes its 47k vs like 42k for an sti limited but yall are not factoring in that you can haggle a mini significantly more than an sti or back in the day a golf r

I love my 2008 Mini, but this car might be it's replacement.
I own a 2018 5 door Cooper S. I would like to upgrade to a JCW but they do not make a JCW version of my car and I don't like how the clubman trunk opens......not sure what to do. I also want all wheel drive but I love the look and shape of my car more. Why can't they just make a 5 door JCW Cooper with all4? Bmw has xdrive on all their cars now so I don't understand.

I’d go for the Clubman if you want something similar to your 5 door feel wise. We were down at Mini test driving all the models.
The 306bhp isn’t going to be in the 3 door except the new GP.

John Roger Bell it’s basically a Ford Focus, our BMW Dealership hasn’t had a lot of good feedback. They’ve kind of ruined the 1 Series with this new one.
I heard the DCT can't handle as much power as the autos.
It has great horsepower for a car of this size.

You have to REALLY love mini's to pay $47k for this considering you have some really nice options at that price point. The lack of a manual though just KILLS the fun factor in a car that is supposed to be all about fun. I really hope enthusiast's not only refuse to buy car's like this with no manual option, but let these automakers know why, because i'm seeing more and more now the most powerful versions of cars having no manual option... and to me that's just not ok.

The problem is, that whenever there is a choice, more people go for auto just because its easier as a daily, so then they decide its easier for the company to just do an auto 🤷♂️

I have to say, that I have an auto geared mini, and when having a little fun, its in every way as fast as a manual. The best thing though is, when commuting especially through the city (Europe bendy street-cities) its way better than a manual. I have the cooper s and my next car will be the clubman for sure
