- Thanks to Mini UK I have been running the 306hp JCW Clubman as my daily for the past 3 months. I have done over 6000miles and learned much about the fastest Mini ever made. It is safe to say I have been impressed. In fact so impressed I now really want to buy one for myself !

Try Alligator Rim Protectors. Have used them to date on 4 cars, cost around £60 for set if 4. Much cheaper than refurb, and they do work, my better half has proved it!

Sorry this isn,t a Clubman, the one and only is the R55, he wins the red dot award for Design, that you driving is complet other car it,s an 1 series based ugly tin bucket with 6 Doors, the Design is a shame, so that it fits the frame of the 1 series, it has been completely adapted. The side relationship from height to the side is a disaster, since nothing comes together and has nothing to do with the mini design, too bad, but I drive a real one and will also never give up anymore.

I don't like the new Mini - it isn't mini. But I have never driven one and normally ride a 'bike, so deferring to your experience.

You're absolutely right about spotlights for the front of ANY Mini too. They're almost a prerequisite.
And if you are getting a new Mini, make sure that you have a black roof if you're having a panoramic sunroof. Sunroofs don't show up that much with black roofs as they do with the other colours. So my choice would be a red Clubman, black wheels and with a black roof. And spotlights too :-))...
Oh! By the way. The first "hot hatch" I can ever recall having 150bhp was the 1988 Vauxhall Astra GTE 16V. And that had 154bhp driving just the front wheels. Car reviewers then, said it was going to be far too powerful to handle. How times change!!
However, it's been fun watching the JCW Clubman. So, so sad to see her go... :-((...
PS - I forgot this. By the end of the year, new Mini's should be getting LCD screens to replace the mechanical dials :-))... So I'm led to believe!!

Wow by the end of the year you could, maybe, possibly, have a remote chance, of being on the cusp of having 3 yes THREE Mini cars! Thats proper love lol. I'm of those that just doesn't quite get them, but I've never driven one either.
Love your honesty though Pete and love your channel. Your obviously doing well, but your within the realms of relatable and your thoughts and reviews reflect this.
Oh and just have to say your end/credit music sounds just like Emirates onboard music. Every time I here it, it takes me back to my honeymoon which was via Business class too. Never have the money to do it again, but glad I did!

I purchased a 2015 R60 that was in "like new" condition last June. It made me smile from the getgo. The extra 100+ horsepower of the JCW would definitely get me in trouble with the law which up to the present I have been able to avoid.

It's bad enough that I named my F56, Penelope and drive Suz nuts 24x7 with constant peeks out the window or cutsy comment about how much I love her, whether it's smoked Union Flag Tailights or red, and all to my misses' eye roll. Now, yep, you guessed it, I have to have a Mini Clubman JCW, especially living up here in New Hampshire with those twisty roads and bad winters. Yep, the finance calculators are chattering like a team of tabulating accountants. And it's your fault:-)

Petrol Ped Absolutely, and lovin’ these videos especially during current times. Mods have been fun, and this one was a fab car review. Appreciate the comment on the run flat tires too. I have wondered about those on my F56. It has Pirellis. Should I change them to the ones you mention in the Clubman vid when they wear out...which may not be long with the cornering I’m doing on the back roads😁

I knew you'd be hooked on the Clubman lol, Minis give more smiles per miles than any other car I've driven. My 2005 R53 supercharged baby is expensive to run it's getting old, like me but I wouldn't swap it for the world, whenever I'm grumpy which is a lot, if I jump in the car within seconds I'm smiling again. It's a pocket rocket that I can drive sensibly or rag the nuts off, and it always delivers. Take care mate 👍👍👍👍👍🏁

Really like these, but there are literally no decent deals to be had. The GFV to PCP one means the costs are eye watering... such a shame as it’s not a £6k £350/month motor for me...
Look at a 6 month old ex demo with maybe 2-3k miles. They are around £31-33k. I have already been offered a new build slot for £33k 👍
Petrol Ped yeah I’ll keep an eye on things, the dealer near me have only sold 1 of them because of the poor offers, so I’ll wait and see if anything comes good over the next few months
I always try to keep my cars as clean as possible, however I do find it interesting to see how a car gets dirty. By that I mean how the mud is thrown up onto the bodywork, how the aerodynamics affect the flow of grubby water and how the vacuums that all cars have to a degree affect how the dirty water settles on the car.

Just picked up a '2020 Clubman S myself. Not the 300 horsepower engine but it does have extras like the glass roof, wireless phone charger and the bigger LCD. Very fun car to drive.

Navigation plus pack will give you wireless charging in the arm rest. This demo only has standard nav pack 👍
Another great video Pete. Fully get what you say about mini’s putting a smile on you’re face, we have a mini one as a family pool car and there is always a rush for the keys. You are right about the spot lights too, JCW’s should have them as standard.

@@PetrolPed Its just a fantastic motor, its such a shame due to health reasons I cant drive it. I would like it to go to someone like myself who loves minis, its got every available extra, sun roof, 19in wheels etc.etc. Like you I to am a IAM driver so it has been treated with love.

Spec the 19"wheels and you can't have the adaptive suspension. I am keen to test drive one, never had a mini. Those rear doors though could be an issue.

The door mud issue is poor design. Got a Countryman 2.0 diesel.. great car, amazing auto gearbox cannot fault it except for tall drivers I bang my head getting in.. due to low roof line and also cannot read head up display as too low down.
I just got an F56 and of all the things the stuck out to me it was the absolutely shocking quality of the carpet. Horrific. Compared to the R50 generation which actually used real carpet - wtf are BMW playing at. Refined and well built car for certain but why the cost cutting? Disappointing.
I've got a great coffee maker. A mug, sugar, water, sainsburys own & a spoon. I don't need a fancy (and no doubt expensive) machine.
Great vLog... Should have one later this year... Will be keeping my 2015 JCW F56 as a mistress! This is the confirmation I wanted to see. Most dealer don't have them instock... Think apart from the demo's they are made to order as most are jumping in the Countryman from bigger SUV's

Took delivery of a Clubman JCW two months / 3,000 miles ago and we're also really impressed. Still don't see many around. Not kerbed the 19" alloys yet (fingers crossed..!) but the ride on uneven and poorly surfaced road is very harsh. (Hey, but who wants a soft suspension with 306ps?) On a smooth road it's great fun and love the noise from the exhaust. Fantastic build quality, great styling, plenty of oomph and a nice to have something a little different to other hot hatches.... totally agree with your comments in the video - we love it!
So happy you cancelled the Mini I watched the Niro experience & fully agree with your comments it's all down to a good range & a simple credit card charging system. Pete, I'm a petrol head motorbike rider luckily electric motorbikes will never be the same experience, unfortunately, Ev cars are better than ice cars so the writing is on the wall. I really Like this mini cooper club wagon with 306 HP but until they give It a six speed Manual Transmission I won't buy It. I Like to change my own gears.
How does it compare to other hot hatches? Civic Type R/ Golf R/A45. Which has the best driving dynamics and overall usability. I had a first gen JCW clubman and might want to get another.

The diamond cut 19s are also worse for road noise and harsher ride. I’ve got them on my clubman cooper S with JCW pack.

I don't think it's really picky to point out the flaws , the stones stuck in the vent is a real fail ! Also the leaves ... It wouldn't cost much at the factory to fit a mesh that prevents the leaves blocking it up.

I am 75 yoa and have owned more cars than I can recollect, more recently and in the last two years I had an extremely fast Cooper S, I wanted to trade it for a high end Countryman JCW and was told it would be three months delivery which was eventually extended by months and on into more than a year, I purchased a nice BMW instead, however, the need for the Mini never left me and I pick up my new Countryman JCW on Monday 9th January. I also had an X5 M Competition (Ultimate Pack) which I ran for a year before trading it in for a more moderate 3ltr X5. I have driven a JCW some time ago and simply loved it and I am looking forward to Monday when I will pick up my new one.

First car was a 995cc Mini City.....32 years ago. Next car WILL BE a Clubman. Great shout on the spot-lamps and roof rails. By the end of 2020, Ruby will have a GP3 for a boyfriend, and JCW Clubman for a big brother - lucky girl.

There's a product called waterless wash that allows you to clean the car without needing a hose. You have one of the best detailing guys in your backyard, well not sure how far away he is, but look up Forensic Detailing, he'll steer you right, plus he's a gearhead too📣🛎👍

My wife recently got her 2020 Mini"S" convertible and for a vehicle with a 40k price point I am amazed that it doesn't have power seats.and that the tires are Nitrogen filled which do not last as long as normal tires and cost around $200 + to replace should they go bad. Yes I agree there should a dedicated spot for your cell phone with a charging pad. The Convertible does have a 2 step roof, the first step is a panorama version of a roof window and then the second step takes the top down completely. Pretty cool! great driving car, lots of fun, room for 4 but wouldn't recommend 4 adults going on a longer than a 2 hour road trip.Love the cornering headlights and the Union Jack tail lights. The heads up display is awesome as is the entire audio/navigation system. Also it is recommended to use the PLUS grade of gas which runs about $0.30-0.50 /per gallon more here in NJ. Overall its a great car and maybe they will add the features missing in future models.

OK, here I am 3 years later, watching this video (again) and finally understanding why you liked this car as much as you did. Because... I am getting almost the exact same car for myself this week! My test drive yesterday of a used 2020 Clubman JCW with barely 17K miles on it convinced me that I have to stop moping about and start 'motoring' about. It is time for me to pull the trigger (because I finally have the $$$) and put some real joy into my driving. And when I say almost the exact same car, I mean the same model, same exact color scheme, but with the wireless charging yours didn't have, it has the panoramic moon roof, and it's the American version so it has the steering wheel on the proper side. 😆 I knew when I saw it I needed it in my life, but I wasn't quite sure why it stuck out as much as it did. But rewatching this video, and I get it. Thanks to you, @PetrolPed for planting the seed in my brain.

what is a better car? the mini S or the JCW?
Doug Macrae Depends what you want to do. If it’s a Clubman, this JCW is heaps better that the Cooper s clubman-it’s a totally different very well sorted car (I have driven both).
If it’s a Hatch and you drive gently, then the Cooper s will do everything you need. The JCW hatch is much more lively and less comfortable around town even with adaptive dampers.
This new JCW has had a reworked suspension to handle the 306hp and it all works very well indeed, it’s a stunningly good car.
The S is a brilliant car, but the JCW with All4 four wheel drive just makes it epic 👏
I know just how you feel. I tried to part ex my mini (Laddie) and I couldn’t and I purchased the car 🚗 with out a part ex. So I still have him outside. I had a Mini Countryman on Motability a Cooper S fully loaded. Then PIP changed my entitlement and Cooper had to go back but, at some point I’ll have one back. I’m hooked on Minis period and all though I’ve just bought a Meriva just to get me through the next 3 years or so I will have two minis again. Laddie is very cheap to run, zero tax and only £160 on insurance it’s not worth worrying about. Laddie is a Cooper D with racing parents on him. This makes the clutch a touch hard to press for me, so I can’t driving him as much as I’d love too. So chin up Pete and to your wife and look to the future, there’s a Mini waiting for you both 💋

Mr Petrol Ped, I'm a little older than you, and far wiser. Having owned as my first car a proper 1966 Cooper S, I find the new BMW Mini neither 'Mini' or 'fun.' You simply might as well buy a better mid-size car than this over stylized, plasticy, repair prone interloper. The genuine essence of the original Mini has been lost with size and weight.
I can appreciate both Classic and Modern Minis. I’ve driven plenty of both 😜

I have a Cooper S Countryman, almost three year old now! It’s good fun to drive after many years of company cars, the usual VWs and Audis. Hope your own car number plate, as seen in this clip, is a show plate, as the characters are mis-spaced!

You're obviously as hooked on the Clubman as I am Pete. Mine does have the larger info screen, panoramic sun roof and the wireless charger in the armrest. The charger works great but anything larger than my Samsung S8 won't fit which could be an issue if you gotta have the latest phone! Doesn't bother me, to be honest. I am also in agreement with another comment re a Blazing Red (not the Chili one) Clubman with black roof coupled with the panoramic sunroof and black wheels, that describes my older Cooper version and it looked awesome!! Now all I need to do is save up for the JCW all4 version.......

Love it.... We only have the CopperS Clubman and still adore it after 6 months and yes want spots.
I know the feeling.. realy have my eye on a mini but have to pay off a loan first plus my girlfriend thinks im nuts for being sso obsesed with mini coopers but as you say they get under your skin. looking at at 2018 jcw 17000 miles for 27000 dollars. but no one works on them where i live so would have to drive 50 miles to get work on it. hate driving in Minn MN. what are your thoughts. plse let me know. thanks
