I've just started dealing with the intrusive thoughts and I didn't understand it. I latched on to the "what if i'm going crazy thought" and it made me spiral into the worst week of my life. I even pressured my therapist to test me for other mental health issues and all came back to negative. After watching your videos and help from my therapist I am better able to cope with these thoughts. I'm not anxiety free but I'm not scared of it anymore. If your dealing with this just tell yourself that it's all anxiety and it's not going to hurt you. Take it day by day and focus on the present and on the things that you love the most about life. Life is beautiful and we will get through this!!!

I am laying down crying because I am so grateful for this video. I was having anxiety all day like a 3 in a scale of 10 but I’ve been dealing with it since 5 months I am so tired. And I’ve been searching non stop for videos to explain how to help with my anxiety and I am truly grateful for this one. Because i understand what is happening to me and I am just so happy someone has been able to sum up every single symptom I have and call it that. It makes me feel grateful that I have anxiety and not going crazy, that I am just a normal person. Thank you so so much. You have no idea what this video means to me. ❤️ thank you thank you thank you.

What a great video Shaan. This is what put me in the mental ward at 18 for two weeks. I was getting to craziest, most heinous thoughts imaginable. I couldn't even sit in class. One day it was so bad I just walked to the library crying. My mom knew this was to me and raced to the school due to the principle calling. My mom thought I committed suicide. I went to the library and started reading on it. I couldn't find much. I was put in Paxil and they went away. In the 90's there was no info like this. What Shaan is doing is remarkeable. Bringing anxiety to the forefront. Explaining what our bodies are doing and how to respond by not responding. I wouldn't have been in the hospital if I knew this. Just knowing what Shaan tells you. You will never hit rock bottom. Understand the concepts but you gotta do the work! Thanks Shaan! 👏🤟♥

They will always be a part of your life however if you can reframe them you can ignore them. I doesn’t matter what the the content of the thought is the rules are the same.

Thank you for making these videos. It's great to hear this perspective, and you're really giving me some food for thought to challenge my anxiety and get to recovery.
I have a question regarding thoughts. One of my problems with health anxiety is I will have a scary thought like this is a heart attack or some kind of disease. Then my next thought is the doctor said I'm fine and it's just anxiety related. But then u feel the symptom again and then the thought that comes next is "but what if this time its different?"... How do you challenge that last thought?

I feel you as this scared me bad after my first panick attack but every resource is adamant that this will never be permanent. It can’t be no matter how shitty you may feel. reading that your brain may scream NO MY CASE IS SPECIAL THIS IS BAD. that brain is just really concerned and wants to keep u safe. It’s all fear of the altered state that you’re in that is fueling it. Just like shaan recommends - arm yourself with knowledge of what anxiety can look like to help relieve all that stress. Look up dpdr symptoms once check them off and then practice accepting and allowing. No more wondering or engaging in anxious or catastrophic thinking.
Something I noticed and it may seem a little weird but it gave me some peace is I can feel derealized and strange and “insane” but somehow my body and mind can recognize my room, my belongings, my family, my dog, and even my street despite me “ feeling” as though I can’t recognize them. It’s that perception that causes the disconnect. But it’s sooooo normal in dpdr :)
I’ve been in this body 23 years and I know deep in my bones this altered reality that dpdr causes is just a temporary state. No matter how real it may seem. It’s just a blip in my timeline. If experts and ppl who have recovered say it’s my bodies signal I’m stressing it out past what it can handle then okay. My job is to allow it to calm back down and rest. No more questioning or wondering bc I have all the knowledge I need. It’s a survival tactic that the brain releases. That’s all. 🦦 hope you’re well you got this

In a sense, it IS a valid question, what if the MDs miss something, because, in reality, sometimes they do! Not to scare people, I just mean, it's possible. But, usually a good MD
can figure out if someone is having a somatic symptom of something tangible, medical, or if it's not. The evidence is usually there for them to see. The thing is psychological/behavioral
or even neurological stuff can indeed be more difficult to pinpoint or diagnose. Years ago people would often get misdiagnosed with whatever, schizophrenia, let's say, and
it was nothing of the kind...anxiety, bipolar, depression, or whatever.
