What people don't know is that you could already play Minecraft on a chromebook, they just didn't let you download it legally. It has keyboard support and is fully playable.

You're basically running an Android translation layer on top of ChromeOS. On older Chromebooks you can disable the play store for a massive performance increase since it eats up so many resources.
Not trying to be mean if you like the switch, but it is a very weak console and isn't good for anything other than playing Nintendo exclusives as I have one and it isn't comparable to other consoles.

I bought a Windows 11 laptop to use for school at Best Buy for $290 (including tax) and it runs Java and Bedrock perfectly fine with fancy graphics. It also has very similar specs to the Chromebook, but has slots to upgrade various components. The $550 price tag for the Chromebook is crazy.

That chrome book you tested has better specs than most school chrome books. My school chrome book has only a celeron processor, 32 gb of storage, 4 gb of RAM, and an igpu. Can’t even imagine running Minecraft well on it
My home PC has 128 Gb of storage, *2GB of RAM* an non-gaming processor and an outdated graphics card for 2023. My school PC on the other hand runs Windows 11, has 8GB of ram and I believe 256GB of Storage? Either way, im saving up for a better one. I also dont play on my school PC.
don't understimate that lil i3, it actually packs quite the punch, I tell you coming from my old school laptop which had a Celeron 2981U and struggled quite a lol in Minecraft Java, and Bedrock was my only way to play back then, the problem is definitelly not the processor, it's the integrated graphics that hold it back, the problem is definitelly the price, that chromebook should cost like 150 to200 like every other does also I fond it funny how 60% of schools give out chrmoebooks while in my country they give out just regular laptops, models that you can actually go and buy in any store, and definitelly the best generation to be a receiver of a school laptop in my country was 2017, if you were a 6th grader in 2017 you'd receive an HP laptop which came with A DEDICATED GRAPHICS CARD, a GeForce 940MX, it ain't that good, it performs around GT 1030 level, but damn, 1030 level absolutelly crushes any integrated graphics that Intel offers, AND ALSO an SSD, sadly I was too old, and instead got mine in 2014, with the already mentioned 2918U with just 4GB (500GB takenby the HD Graphics) and a 512GB mechanical hard drive)
Well this is not the only chromebook in existence..... you got to remember that. The one i have for school is foldable and when you play with the touch controls while the laptop is folded, it makes sense as it gives the feel of a really big ipad. And they are many other chromebooks which are arguably cheaper and can give close to the same performance. This felt more like a review of the chromebook in this video rather than Minecraft on ALL chromebooks in general

I have a 2009 plastic MacBook that gets more FPS than modern Chromebooks lol. Keep in mind I upgraded it with a new battery, SSD, and the maximum 16gb of ram and I patched it to the latest macOS so I get the best out of it but I get good frame-rates.

As a 13yrd that has a school chrome that survived 5 years. That crap is not durable. Also, after the 4 years, ive manged to bug the system out to ways people cant even fix it. Not even a power wash. I would not recommend a chrome book. If you need a good low risk laptop, Use a decent laptop with windows & antivirus. Make it so that the administer account is locked and the child has a separate account without permission to delete or change system files. It will play ANY game better than a chromebook + better support for apps and debugging. Worst that happens is that you wipe it clean with a new install. (Edit: 13 years old)

My sister used to have a chromebook, it sucked. I had to hack it to install Windows on there, and that worked a lot better. Honestly, I believe the OS is the issue rather than the hardware, at least for the newer chromebooks like the one you have. That i3 should be able to run the game a lot better than what you are showing in this video.
@@serenacide it's a pain and I don't recommend it. Doesn't work on all Chromebooks, but those it does it will most certainly void the warranty on. It's still a sluggish experience to be honest.

Actually a Chromebook started off as a Chrome browser with a small operating system wrapped around it. Android was added later.

Back in 2018-2020, it used to be enough to run smoothly Minecraft bedrock.
It all went downhill in 1.17.

i own a chromebook myself got it on low budget cuz i needed to save money it was like 48$ on amazon then i got a sd card with 512gb for 17 dollars and it runs really well

My sister used to have a chromebook, it sucked. I had to hack it to install Windows on there, and that worked a lot better. Honestly, I believe the OS is the issue rather than the hardware, at least for the newer chromebooks like the one you have. That i3 should be able to run the game a lot better than what you are showing in this video.

@@serenacide it's a pain and I don't recommend it. Doesn't work on all Chromebooks, but those it does it will most certainly void the warranty on. It's still a sluggish experience to be honest.
