If you have a computer you could run Minecraft, especially earlier versions like 1.8.4. (the go-to version for servers) I don't know anyone who has a NEW 3DS and not a computer. And even if you don't have a PC (which is almost impossible since you need one for 99% of jobs and for school) you have a phone which can play Minecraft far better than the 3DS can.
My neighbor friend when we were both 8 had one of those amazon tablets and oh my god, I don't know how you can get so close to describing a mother and her kid without actually describing them. Her mom didn't smoke but she was a single mom visibly annoyed that she has to take care of her kid.
Minecraft New 3DS despite being a lackluster, it is a techical masterpiece. The game runs on the device that has no business running it. It's a decent entry for what it offers and after this version, your experience will only get better from there. I couldn't blame this version to much unless you come from PC and then jump into 3DS, which is totally fair.
The New 3DS XL is essentially an upgraded variant of hardware that isn't much younger than Minecraft itself. Except it's a handheld, so the actual power of that hardware is at least a full console generation behind. The hardware was weak when it launched, so seeing an actual, fully-featured version of Minecraft, even with all the limitations, is astonishing. Especially compared to the fucking Chromebook version. This shit is running on stuff more comparable to the goddamned *Gamecube* than anything else, the fuck is the Chromebook's excuse?
Based on what he said about the Amazon gen 3 device, I think he ordered them and is planning to return them after he finishes the review. "time to take it back to Amazon..."
@@lexsombersunriseWii U was great for large families like mine. A way for everyone to play around a big screen using what we already had from the Wii. The Switch though is far too expensive for families as everyone needs thier own console and their own copy of the games like the handhelds, but rather than being hand held prices ($200 for the consoles, $30-$40 for the games) they're the cost of HD home consoles ($300 to $350 for the console, $60 for the game) and a whopping $80 for the controller, 4x the cost of controllers previously! Couple that with paid online, no backwards compatibility and the awkawrd way to play multiplayer for a portable console (expensive at home) and I really don't see why or how the Switch is superior. but alas... gamers bought 6 of them to pander on youtube.
The ending "monologue" hits me, as someone who started playing pocket edition way back when they first added multiplayer and seeing what Microsoft did to it. Discontinuing PE for bugrock, adding tons of microtransactions & unnecessary bloat (realms), even on a thousand dollar phone the main menu runs like shit, etc. Java is not doing much well either, lack of updates and with how out of touch Mojang is with the community. Not mentioning the fact some parts of the community itself is the problem, idk maybe I'm just getting too old. Unrelated, but it's nice to see a "RUclipsr" of sorts that's not too sanitized (not saying its a bad thing) just a nice change of pace, +1 Sub.
I hear that is an old wives tale and the keyboard layout wasn't specifically designed to be anything (note how fghjklmnop keys are still in a vaguely alphabetical order), but I'm too lazy to double check. You can also spell "typewriter" using only the keys on the top-row... I thought that was a neat little coincidence.
I'm pretty sure that's half right. I think it's designed so that when multiple keys are pressed, they're horizontally far apart, so the typewriter won't jam.
Finally, a RUclipsr with the spirit of the AVGN but with the modern delivery that is both entertaining, funny and nice to listen to without instantly being dated. This channel is a hidden gem, keep making reviews, Angry Bearman!
I used to play minecraft on kindle fire with my sister, and upon loading into absolutely anything it would get so hot my hands would burn and turn all pink
another banger from bearman, love the unhinged description too. Shocked that you didn't complain about what I think is the 3ds edition's greatest sin, the fact that you can't control the camera with the touchscreen. Using that stupid nub is agonizing and I had really expected that version to support a control scheme similar to what's in metroid prime hunters when I tried it.
I remember back when I was a console edition only player and Minecraft Bedrock replaced the Switch console edition, it ran so badly that it was essentially unplayable. I was really pissed because they replaced a completely fine working version of the game with a buggy, unoptimized piece of trash.
To this day I play the switch legacy edition, but sadly I am stuck with garbagerock version if I want to play with any friends. Mojang has fallen honestly
Even tho I only started playing Minecraft on Switch very recently, I still start playing the legacy edition through modding. Works much better, and has amazing texture packs. Such a shame I can't play multiplayer, especially mini games, cuz I can't go online on a modded Switch.
The switch port still sucks. You are forced to put every asset of the game into your device storage cuz if your worlds are on the SD card your game experience may be worse than the Chromebook one. I remember my main switch account was on the SD card and I hated playing it, menus were laggy af, and the game would have spike after every block that I placed or destroyed. I made a new account and for some reason the game ran perfectly. Then I realized what I had to do.
Bedrock on Switch pisses me off SO MUCH. It's barely functional and it's so annoying because it's not like the Switch just can't handle Minecraft. They just don't care enough to optimize it, and it's unhelped with how Bedrock already is buggy on other devices. Legacy felt like an actual game. Bedrock feels like a beta-- or something you'd play in a dream; Fake.
A recent crap version of the game that I've played is the switch bedrock version. Even on the lowest render settings, you have a significant delay when placing blocks, and half the time, it doesn't even load other chunks. It will go and load the chunk you are standing in, and even that takes 30 seconds to a solid minute to load. The switch version of the game is straight up unplayable it doesn't even load properly. At the very least most of these versions are theoretically playable unlike the Nintendo switch Bedrock Edition.
I used to play the switch version with my niece back in like 2020~ and it ran okay. Not good, her little switch lite was chugging but it ran well enough to be playable. Now, however is actually unplayable post caves and cliffs update. Like my worlds do not load in bad. Super frustrating that you can't even revert to old versions that ran better either so the game is just ruined.
That's actually horrid, the Switch is a CURRENT GEN console and Mojang is already letting yet another version rot. People wonder why I'm still just playing a version of Minecraft from 2014, it's because I don't want to keep up with modern minecraft if this is all that's coming out of it.
22:50 Yes, those garbage things. As a kid, the charging port wore out on it and they asked us to send it in and they sent us a replacement in exchange. The replacement was almost broken, so we just kept trading them in and out. When scrolling down from the top, I believe it said "My 48th Fire," or so. That's how many times we got replacements.
The cursing takes me back to youtube pre adpocolypse and everyone washing their content. Godspeed, you reminded me of a better, simpler time on youtube.
The worst way to play ever? Using a dev mode chromebook to run ubuntu 16.04 and trying to run modern java Minecraft. Thats the worst way Ive ever played. EDIT: Just found that Chromebook. With sodium and other performance improvement mods it actually runs better than bedrock edition.
You should try manjaro mate. That wad the lightest distro I could find and it even ran well on my dell chromebook 11 wih a n2840 from 2013. Sadly couldn't play minecraft on the 16 gb of emmc storage as 13gb was used by the os. 1 fps when playing off my USB hard drive lol
As someone who grinds the 3ds version alot, I can definitely say that it is a really good option if you want to feel what minecraft truly was 10 years ago. Its classic minecraft, and the controls are a little weird, but thats what i love about it. It truly gives a nostalgic vibe throughout

This is hands down one of the best new channels I’ve seen in a while. Not some overhyped and annoying voice, not super censored, reminds me of the good old days of RUclips. Keep this kind of energy up bro.
Trying to explore in Minecraft on a switch is a nightmare. Traveling by boat is apparently too fast because I will be forced to wait at the edge of unloaded chunks for up to 30 seconds just so I can go a bit furtherbefore having to wait for the switch to load chunks directly in front of me. If you want to explore and need to cross water on the switch, be prepared to wait for chunks to load every 20 blocks.
I remember playing kindle Minecraft as a small baby man and I remember playing it in the car and I think it's the reason I can't look at a device in a car without having a huge headache

You’re the guy who preserved Fire TV Edition on Reddit! Great video, however I have a weird soft spot for all these weird versions of the game. Fire TV - It served its purpose well at the time and sure it runs like “ass” now, but back then it was a nice way to play the game in a console-like format, albeit in a limited way due to it being Pocket Edition Wii U: While yes, this was wasted potential, this is a pretty decent way to play legacy console edition, the game runs better than on a PS3/Xbox 360, and the aquatic update isn’t bad at all. The lack of optimizations and local multiplayer (through gamepad and TV) is pretty bad.. but it could be much worse. Gear VR - Other than Vivecraft, this WAS the first official VR port of the game, and for its time it actually worked really well, ran well too. I wouldn’t say it made complete sense though, like why not make Oculus Quest Edition, that’s sorta dumb, so I agree with you on that. 3DS - So many people hate this version, and I get it. But it isn’t bad- at all. It runs nowhere near as well as Pocket Edition (which it’s trying to be) but it still feels… complete? (If that’s the word). This version while not updated anymore, doesn’t feel limited by its lack of support, it’s Minecraft, and despite it’s weird quirks, it actually makes this version feel nostalgic. Call me biased, but I really like this version of the game, it’s one of the few ways to play Minecraft portably and it was and still is; functional. Fire OS: Genuinely enjoyed this part (like I did every part, but I liked this part specifically) Fire Tablets are actually terrible (for gaming that is), very odd that they decided to put Minecraft on such an underpowered line of devices, back then it made a lot of sense though, and I guess it still does if you have a Fire 11 (almost 300 dollars tho hahaha). I mean in the Alpha stages of Pocket Edition it ran great, now it’s just terrible. This is kind of the thing with all these Bedrock Ports, they USED to be okay and now they just suck. It’s weird to have nowadays. Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile: Back in the earlier days of Pocket Edition this version made sense and it was pretty cool. It ran well and served its purpose (for a very short amount of time) Then the Bedrock version came and.. What the actual fuck, this version is actually bad. WHY- WHY PORT BEDROCK TO DEVICES THAT CANT EVEN RUN IT! Chromebook: Why the fuck do you have to pay for this version AGAIN! This version runs like shit, and I agree with you on every point here. Here’s the conclusion: Honestly, unless you’re playing versions of the game that are frozen in time (Old versions of Fire TV Edition, Old Minecraft Pocket Edition versions, Legacy Console Editions, 3DS, the fact that these versions no longer get updates is actually a good thing) then you’re fine, I actually find older versions of Pocket Edition quite fun, and I hope to find older versions of Fire TV soon. But porting Bedrock to so many devices, it’s just sad. And the experience is gross. Honestly Minecraft nowadays is only good on Powerful Phones that on the Mobile version (I hate this but whatever), Bedrock for Windows 10, and Java. It’s just depressing but it’s true, Bedrock isn’t that good anywhere but a powerful phone or a PC. I enjoyed the video a lot though, and I hope you find Apple TV Edition soon!
That was me! I honestly thought it was preserved until you commented on my post. Sadly the only version I have is the final updated version. Hopefully eventually someone uploads more versions. I know most other versions, even Gear VR, have every version ever preserved. Thanks for watching!
you went into way more detail than i thought you would which was a very nice surprise. this is my first time watching your videos so my apologies for that assumption. great vid btw !!
23:19 Oh wow, the Kindle Fire HD pocket edition was the first version I had as a kid way back in like 2012 or 2013 or something so that's quite a throwback! Good video btw :)
I will say that the Kindle Fire Tablet edition was the first time I got to experience Minecraft in person, since a friend across the street had the game and my brother and I watched him play a bit.
@@xXRealXx While you are technically correct, you're also very wrong. If a company is clearly no longer supporting said product, nor selling it. Its no longer piracy.
I had minecraft on my kindle fire growing up and it was truly a version of minecraft that i used to play before i got an ipad or xbox. there was a lot of cool things that i did in it but the fact that typing in chat or on signs ran the risk of the entire tablet to crash and try to restart for upwards of an hour was great. The fact that for a lot of updates to the game, you could only see the text on signs by ramming your face into it was also great. i still look back on some of those old worlds fondly but at the end of the day, it's so much better playing java edition now
Kindle Fire edition went crazy. Back in the day all the mfs in the primary school cafeteria whipped out their Kindle Fires with PE 0.7.1 at a 2 chunk render distance at 10fps and I thought it was the coolest shit. That was my intro to Minecraft.
I love the New Nintendo 3DS version! Though I love it not because it's the best way to play the game (IT IS NOT! LOL), but rather because it's technologically impressive. The New Nintendo 3DS is a very LOW power device. I also love it because in many ways it reminds me of playing Minecraft Pocket Edition on my 4th gen iPod. SUPER limited and not the best version, but still it was so adored by my friends and I at the time as it was our only way to play the game for a while.

And even if you don't have a PC (which is almost impossible since you need one for 99% of jobs and for school) you have a phone which can play Minecraft far better than the 3DS can.

When I was in the hospital for a few weeks the 3ds version was a lifesaver. I had a dozen other games on the same unit too so it was just convenient.
Yeah. It is a pretty terrible version, but it is fascinating and I enjoy playing it occasionally for the novelty of it
The true shit version is the Nintendo Switch version
The New 3DS XL is essentially an upgraded variant of hardware that isn't much younger than Minecraft itself.
Except it's a handheld, so the actual power of that hardware is at least a full console generation behind.
The hardware was weak when it launched, so seeing an actual, fully-featured version of Minecraft, even with all the limitations, is astonishing.
Especially compared to the fucking Chromebook version.
This shit is running on stuff more comparable to the goddamned *Gamecube* than anything else, the fuck is the Chromebook's excuse?

Then it stuck into modern keyboards. Why? People were too used to it.
Fun fact, the QWERTY system was actually designed specifically for inconvenience as typewriters often got jammed because of how fast people typed.
was about to say lol
I hear that is an old wives tale and the keyboard layout wasn't specifically designed to be anything (note how fghjklmnop keys are still in a vaguely alphabetical order), but I'm too lazy to double check.
You can also spell "typewriter" using only the keys on the top-row... I thought that was a neat little coincidence.
@@nickfifteen fair enough. I haven’t done any research.

Such a shame I can't play multiplayer, especially mini games, cuz I can't go online on a modded Switch.
it runs worse on switch than it does on my phone 💀

@@mikeyes620 you can revert to the first version of the game but that's unplayable too
I have died to fall damage without even falling off of a block way too many times on the Switch version.

You’re the guy who preserved Fire TV Edition on Reddit! Great video, however I have a weird soft spot for all these weird versions of the game.
Fire TV - It served its purpose well at the time and sure it runs like “ass” now, but back then it was a nice way to play the game in a console-like format, albeit in a limited way due to it being Pocket Edition
Wii U: While yes, this was wasted potential, this is a pretty decent way to play legacy console edition, the game runs better than on a PS3/Xbox 360, and the aquatic update isn’t bad at all.
Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile:
Back in the earlier days of Pocket Edition this version made sense and it was pretty cool. It ran well and served its purpose (for a very short amount of time)
Then the Bedrock version came and..
