But if you increase the "sensitivity" (the max speed) of the stick, and don't push it fully, you get more use out of it. The further you push it, the faster you can look around.
Yeah. As a PC nerd I had this same problem, always push the stick in completely. Once I got used to it being a dynamic input, I bumped the sensitivity to max and only went as fast as I needed. To me, it still feels really clunky compared to a mouse, but it felt much better after this adjustment.

Thanks, happy to hear you like the format! I don't have a lot of video ideas for unusual ports yet, but I love the concept. I will look into it, so keep the suggestions coming if you have more :D
In pe, I loved building bases up against the world edge so I could see if it was day or night without needing to peek out and potentially get killed. I didn't know about beds or glass at the time... Also I liked the nether reactor core. And the limited world size means sometimes there's no access to basic things like water.

Back when minecraft on the 3ds was still new, I had a friend that owned it on his 3ds, and at the time I didn't have minecraft so I thought that's how it was on pc. I still remember one time when I saw him play minecraft on it, it was in a desert biome and was making a minecart track.
I'm going to go against the grain here and say... The 3ds is a device perfectly capable of running Minecraft superbly. The issue was the lack of development. If say... Minecraft new Nintendo 3DS edition released in early 2016, effectively as a "launch title" exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS, and had 3-4 years of updates and optimisations, it would not be so looked down upon. The New Nintendo 3DS (and its XL version) both have a Quad Core ARM11 MPCore processor clocked at 805 MHz. That same processor is found in the original Raspberry Pi, The first generation of NVIDIA Tegra Processors, The original Samsung Galaxy and the iPhone 3G (as well as the first iPhone). Sure, for 2015 that sounds ancient but nintendo had to stay with the same architecture as the original 3DS (the main differences being that, that cpu was dual core and at 205MHz) and need I mention that the Wii U has a processor that is by all accounts An overclocked GameCube CPU. Minecraft on the 3DS suffered more from a lack of time to optimise the game than anything else. Period
your editing is fucking gold dude Like at the beginning, you could have just closed your eye, for that 3d segment, instead you stuck a card in your glasses and the song makes that part even better, like that takes some time to set up. Those segments add a ton to the video, along with those adorable transition cards. And making captain Toad a reoccuring part of the video is super creative as well. I mean how do you even think of that lol I could never see myself doing something like moving tables for a video, especially not one on such a niche game and this effort really makes for some amazing entertainment. I was only mildly interested in the topic of this video, but the execution made it super worth it to watch!
Man I've always loved this version of the game! Im glad to see someone cover it and I can't believe that you Haven't gotten more attention with how charming your content is!Keep up the great work!
@yotecat7907 Now you, sir, have great tastes in games if you've played Hotel dusk room 215. I'd you're looking for other visual novels. I really recommend the zero escape series. As well as the Ace Attorney series.
I always had a soft spot for this version. I think my favorite thing about this version is that due to the poor screen resolution, the stars at night twinkle, which I feel looks much nicer than any other version. The only things I dislike about it are that the sides of clouds have buggy textures, the void does not have a flat plane of collision like in any other version, and the fog is a flat wall instead of a sphere so in a way it’s the creepiest version of the game
Very funny video, the singing was exquisite. I have MC on the 3ds as well, and i too, have searched the lands for countless nights for endermen. Might go back in someday and look for a cleric, theres at least 2 villages that i know exist. Subbed and liked!
It was a nice time playing this port. It was nice revisiting older versions on my favourite handheld. The controls were managable for me second 1. Glad I got a New 3ds so i can play this port
Just started playing this and it is incredible that it runs so good. I don’t get why people are saying this is bad, it’s up to the Ocean Update and that alone is great. I remember playing the iPhone Pocket Edition and while it was fun and impressive, touch controls just don’t cut it. So the 3DS version is really cool. It’s a fun time capsule.
I’ve had worse Minecraft experiences. I say that, because I actually beat this game! I actually legit managed to get enough Ender Pearls for the End portal with some patience (it took me up to 3 days?). But yeah, the final boss was too bothersome, because of the 3DS’s limits. …So I SORT OF cheated - I set the difficulty to peaceful, so the Endermen were gone, but the dragon still remained! I actually had more fun with the fight through this adjustment AND it was still somewhat tricky, but not in a tedious way. I’ll prefer more powerful versions, but 3DS has the honour of being the first version of Minecraft I beat. ❤
I've been playing Minecraft on the 3DS for at least 100 hours. For limited content and all the performance issues it has, it's been the only time I've been this consistently engaged with Minecraft in the 14 years I've been playing this game for.
Build a platform 120 blocks up in the air with a bed on it. Have water down below to fall into. Look around for endermen. If there are none, dig a pit to fall into and respawn back at the bed. This makes it so all hostile mobs instantly despawn due to being over 120 blocks away, then new mobs spawn when you respawn and fall back down to the surface. Optionally have a two block high roof surrounding your ground level area to prevent endermen from reaching you while you kill them.
i feel the same way about this as i do the 3DS port of terraria, even though as a kid i did have access to a pc that could happily play those games, there was just something exciting about it being on the DS, (and ofc lets not forget multiplayer, local multiplayer on the ds is some of the most fun i've had gaming to this day)
thank you for touching on this, I used to have this on my 3ds xl and I didn't remember much about it because I did not have it for that long so again thanks you
I remember being in high school and a kid I know was playing the 3ds minecraft. I was so confused cause I'd never knew that it existed. I didn't know it was so recent in terms of a 3ds game, wow.
Thank you so much for actually giving this version of the game a chance! I always wanted to be able to play minecraft on the 3ds, and when it actually came out it totally blew my mind. It always kinda makes me sad that people only mention it as "the worst version of minecraft." I'm sure somewhere out there is someone who had this be their first introduction to the game, and I'm sure they loved it just as much as the rest of us.
i played through the entire game when i was away from home, it certainly was a challenge at some points (especially the ender dragon fight) but i say that it was overall a fun experience, being honest, it probably is one of the worst ways to play minecraft officially but i still got good fun out of it, so i wouldnt say its necessarily bad
Daimn you made such a good video, that you managed to get 125 thousend views with only 7000 subs. Great Job. Really enjoyed it, the editing was so good
I got my copy of Minecraft for the New 3DS around 2017 when it first came out, & at the time I really wasn't too tech-savvy so I didn't check for reviews online before getting it. I've never been a fan of survival mode Minecraft, I've always preferred creative mode & building whatever I want to, & while this version of Minecraft is severely limited when just building for fun, you forget that it's running on a patch from 2011. It truly is a marvel that they got it working on the 3DS in general, more so a marvel that somebody was actually crazy enough to sign off on this concept. I've always thought it got way more flak then deserved, because what it was capable of is absolutely incredible & it can't be understated how they got a modern game on a system that can barely play GameCube games. I respect the hell out of it, & still occasionally play it today since it's really one of the only versions of Minecraft without a toxic fanbase or at least a fanbase that actually cares about videogames as a whole. Hell I made an entire laboratory inside a mountain & part of a city when I was younger, & while I remember it being laggy to mine out all the blocks & then to rapidly place new blocks for interiors & whatnot, it ran surprisingly well when just checking it all out. Also, I can understand the fact it doesn't support the 3D feature of the 3DS is irritating, however most games stopped having support for the feature around 2015-2016, even Nintendo themselves gave up on it by the end because it was viewed as a worthless addition that most people weren't using (which was true). Many early 3DS games have the 3D effect, but the older the game is the less likely it is that they bothered even trying.
That wasn't the complete reason Nintendo gave up on 3D. The main reason is the guy who created the 3D tech for Nintendo left in 2017, sued & took his intellectual property with him, forcing Nintendo to drop 3D support & any 3D model of the 3DS & release the New 2DS XL to replace them.
I really like your editing style & humor. I appreciate the life it brings to your videos. The constant jumps from real life to gameplay, to the little skits in-between, it's just fun- all while still being comprehensive, new sub.
Hey! I play Minecraft on the 3DS to this day. Here are some tips: There’s an item glitch that gives you a little over a stack of items. All you need is 3 of that item and your inventory. That’s it. You can trade for the ender pearls. Seed 999 has you spawn right by a village. Hopes this helps!
It's probably the worst version of Minecraft on one of the best handheld consoles. It's quite fun and I'm happy this version even exists anyway. Edit: Searching for ender pearls in this version is really insane
Nice video and good humor, I will leave a sub! Now I want you to play some Minecraft of the PS Vita to compare the two. :) If one thinks that this 3DS system can run Resident Evil Revelations as the non-New 3D version but can only render Minecraft 6 chunks as the New 3DS version it makes one thing how badly the Minecraft port is programmed.
Honestly impressive to see Minecraft run on a device that barely counts a quarter GB of RAM and has a CPU so low specced it needs a second chip to make floating point operations.
Honestly, Minecraft 3DS edition is probably the one that I love the most. I didn’t really stick with mobile or Xbox edition, and I had a modded Japanese 3DSLL, so when the eShop shut down and I downloaded hshop, I decided to give Minecraft a try as it looked really interesting, and the fact that many people said it was the worst version. In my opinion, it is my favorite version, and was the version which I achieved most in survival, as I’m more of a creative builder on Xbox then a survival person. I was able to get a good spawn point, spawning near a village, mountain, and cave, which would prove to help later on. I then built my own farm, a small house, and a mob farm in the caves in the mountainside. Those caves had many diamond and other minerals, which I then made it my own mine. I was then planning to port the world to my uncles pc, as I wanted to experience it somehow in a more “updated” version. I then disconnected from video games for several months, leaving my Minecraft world with no more adventuring. The controls on Minecraft were surprisingly really comfortable, and the c stick was very nice, and I adapted quickly. Now that I found this video on my recommended, I’ll go back to my world and try to beat the ender dragon without cheating, and explore more of this hidden gem for myself. At the end of the day, it’s my favorite Minecraft version, and no one can change my opinion as it’s the edition where I achieved more than Xbox or mobile.
The game does *not* look as bad as it looks in this video. I literally have it installed and it's fun to play when I need a quick pocket edition nostalgia shot
its honestly quite impressive they got the 3ds version to not only render 1,048,576 blocks at once, but to also store 520,224,768 blocks on the cartridge 🤯
uhm... if there is a mob limit, wouldn't it mean killing every single mob and flatten the world would increase your chances of finding endermen? i mean, you sure have enough time to do that while farming those pearls
The Lego Rock Raiders music caught me off guard. But now that I think about it, I guess that soundtrack sort of fits Minecraft considering the subject matter. Sort of, since the atmosphere is completely different.
Idk what I was expecting from this video but I loved the musical break Rubbing "salt and deodorant into the wound" is a new phrase but that is so visceral lol Im sorry you had to get into a shower with your clothes on for it but when you said "am i funny yet?" I laughed really hard, so it's working!
My daughter cut her gaming teeth on a 3DS, and as such her game collection is something to be jealous of. She still has her physical copies of Minecraft, Tomodachi Life, Shantae and the Pirates Curse, all the Mario Party games and a lot more. I have a feeling in the years to come, even this version of Minecraft will be a nice memory for many kids coming up in the 2010s
I had it - after like a week it crashed every tim ei opened it. wow, this brings back memories of playing in survival then switching to creative like a wimp
This video is great! Nice to see someone take a deeper dive into the 3DS edition. As someone who recently got jt myself, I can say with confidence that impo, it's actually really fun! Sure, there are better versions out there such as modern Bedrock (albeit super buggy) and Java, but something about the 3DS edition judt gives it that charm that no other edition has given me. Ever since I got it, I haven't been able to put it down.
This version succeeds at giving you a "Minecraft-lite" experience on the go. Were you really going to combat the ender dragon on the subway ride home? Can you make a fun cottage and farm while you wait for your spouse to catch up with her folks? It's good for what it is, but I doubt anyone would be satisfied if this was their only platform to experience the game with.

Yeah. As a PC nerd I had this same problem, always push the stick in completely. Once I got used to it being a dynamic input, I bumped the sensitivity to max and only went as fast as I needed. To me, it still feels really clunky compared to a mouse, but it felt much better after this adjustment.
Love the way you format your videos, please do more similar topics! Maybe you could do a compilation of unusual ports such as GTA on the GBC, or half life on the dreamcast
Thanks, happy to hear you like the format! I don't have a lot of video ideas for unusual ports yet, but I love the concept. I will look into it, so keep the suggestions coming if you have more :D
Hell yea
@@smallthoughts_nl You should try to find the unofficial DS version, I'm sure it's worse than the Pi version.
In pe, I loved building bases up against the world edge so I could see if it was day or night without needing to peek out and potentially get killed. I didn't know about beds or glass at the time... Also I liked the nether reactor core. And the limited world size means sometimes there's no access to basic things like water.
The best compliment I can give is that I clicked on this video in my recommended, and figured probably 100k+ views upon watching. It’s only upon going to like it that I see it has less than a thousand. I don’t suspect that will stay the case for long. Subscribed.
This video was not only good, but I loved the humor and style of jokes you incorporated into it 😂
Definitely subscribed after and will watch more!
I really like this vibe from you as a creator, the overall self-aware quirkiness.
And there was something about the Captain Toad story and the png at 10:45, and then the Rayman 3 and Luigi's Mansion music that made me hit the subscribe button.
I could somehow relate to you in every aspect of the video and I really enjoyed it.
it's so refreshing to see this video and channel in RUclips these days
Period
your editing is fucking gold dude
Like at the beginning, you could have just closed your eye, for that 3d segment, instead you stuck a card in your glasses and the song makes that part even better, like that takes some time to set up. Those segments add a ton to the video, along with those adorable transition cards. And making captain Toad a reoccuring part of the video is super creative as well. I mean how do you even think of that lol
I could never see myself doing something like moving tables for a video, especially not one on such a niche game and this effort really makes for some amazing entertainment. I was only mildly interested in the topic of this video, but the execution made it super worth it to watch!
It's amazing to hear that old spore creatures music again. It's been so long. One. Of my favorite ds games growing up
There’s a charm about Minecraft and terraria for 3DS. It’s like a nostalgia trip every time I play them, almost like I stepped back into 2015.
Man I've always loved this version of the game! Im glad to see someone cover it and I can't believe that you Haven't gotten more attention with how charming your content is!Keep up the great work!
Thanks a lot! Your words are very motivating to read :)
hotel dusk pfp :0!!!
@yotecat7907 Now you, sir, have great tastes in games if you've played Hotel dusk room 215.
I'd you're looking for other visual novels. I really recommend the zero escape series. As well as the Ace Attorney series.
Holy crap! Thanks for including my reddit post about my mario tv in minecraft 3ds!! And yes us 3ds minecrafters are holding on two screens strong!
surprisingly one of the most stable versions of the game to come from mojang in recent times, cause even the stable console versions were made by 4j
It literally freezes each time you break a block, and mine crashes whenever i enter the nether or end
@@minecraftlord189 atleast it runs
@@DarkTails256 not the most stable though
@@minecraftlord189 that didnt stop me from making a giant tower house
I always had a soft spot for this version. I think my favorite thing about this version is that due to the poor screen resolution, the stars at night twinkle, which I feel looks much nicer than any other version. The only things I dislike about it are that the sides of clouds have buggy textures, the void does not have a flat plane of collision like in any other version, and the fog is a flat wall instead of a sphere so in a way it’s the creepiest version of the game
19:44 can agree
Ayo 💀
real
Very funny video, the singing was exquisite.
I have MC on the 3ds as well, and i too, have searched the lands for countless nights for endermen. Might go back in someday and look for a cleric, theres at least 2 villages that i know exist.
Subbed and liked!
Still can’t describe how much I love this game. The nostalgia is just crazy.
2:53 Bro does not understand sensitivity 💀
There’s a reason u only have 2 likes
This editing is amazing! Please keep up the great work!
It was a nice time playing this port. It was nice revisiting older versions on my favourite handheld. The controls were managable for me second 1. Glad I got a New 3ds so i can play this port
The worst: fire tv edition
Couldn't you have just cured a zombie villager?
If you gave me this copy back in 2012, I would have been blown away. The first time I played Minecraft on PC, it was a laggy mess.
Your whole world is more than 128MB 1 block = 128KB of data
Uh no, a block is just a few bits (2-6) from every source I can find.
Optionally have a two block high roof surrounding your ground level area to prevent endermen from reaching you while you kill them.
i feel the same way about this as i do the 3DS port of terraria, even though as a kid i did have access to a pc that could happily play those games, there was just something exciting about it being on the DS, (and ofc lets not forget multiplayer, local multiplayer on the ds is some of the most fun i've had gaming to this day)
4:25 This was basically how I felt about pokemon games on 3DS. It was either non existent or it had extremely limited functionality.
Quality content 💪
thank you for touching on this, I used to have this on my 3ds xl and I didn't remember much about it because I did not have it for that long so again thanks you
I remember being in high school and a kid I know was playing the 3ds minecraft.
It always kinda makes me sad that people only mention it as "the worst version of minecraft."
I'm sure somewhere out there is someone who had this be their first introduction to the game, and I'm sure they loved it just as much as the rest of us.
i played through the entire game when i was away from home, it certainly was a challenge at some points (especially the ender dragon fight) but i say that it was overall a fun experience, being honest, it probably is one of the worst ways to play minecraft officially but i still got good fun out of it, so i wouldnt say its necessarily bad
I remember having a happy childhood playing my 3DS Minecraft
I want my eyes back
You could have cured a zombie villager to get the ender pearl traid
Modern Bedrock is worse
thats literally like saying pi edition is better than java
Oh my god you used soundtrack from Spore Creatures. You are a real one for doing this, thank you.
I’m happy. I have it from the EShop. Honestly, I purchased it, I have a legit copy, I am happy.
Here are some tips:
There’s an item glitch that gives you a little over a stack of items.
Someone should decompile this, grab the textures of it, and make a texture pack on the textures for us nostalgic players.
it’s already in the game and it’s called “programmer art”
@@probro152 i meant a actual one... That's been updated to have the latest blocks in the same texture style. A true one...
Are you sure there was never a physical copy? I could swear I saw a copy at Walmart years ago
He said it wrong, i'm pretty sure only europe missed out on the physical release
The shot of the stairs had me in tears
“THE PERFORMANCE IS BAD”
Proceeds to put millions of tnt and judge it on that.
No, I'd say that house and walled home you built impressed me. My homes in Minecraft tended to just be utilitarian squares or boxes, lol.
its honestly quite impressive they got the 3ds version to not only render 1,048,576 blocks at once, but to also store 520,224,768 blocks on the cartridge 🤯
You could’ve cured zombie villager? Maybe I’m mentally insane
uhm... if there is a mob limit, wouldn't it mean killing every single mob and flatten the world would increase your chances of finding endermen? i mean, you sure have enough time to do that while farming those pearls
It's a freaky ass hybrid of OLD Pocket Edition and slightly newer (but still outdated) Bedrock Edition.
The Lego Rock Raiders music caught me off guard. But now that I think about it, I guess that soundtrack sort of fits Minecraft considering the subject matter. Sort of, since the atmosphere is completely different.
Seeing this vid made me realize how fun old cave generation was
This is quality content. You got yourself a new subscriber
Idk what I was expecting from this video but I loved the musical break
Rubbing "salt and deodorant into the wound" is a new phrase but that is so visceral lol
Im sorry you had to get into a shower with your clothes on for it but when you said "am i funny yet?" I laughed really hard, so it's working!
This RUclipsr is gonna be huge a year from now. Have my sub.
My daughter cut her gaming teeth on a 3DS, and as such her game collection is something to be jealous of. She still has her physical copies of Minecraft, Tomodachi Life, Shantae and the Pirates Curse, all the Mario Party games and a lot more.
I have a feeling in the years to come, even this version of Minecraft will be a nice memory for many kids coming up in the 2010s
setting up the joke with the uno reverse card due to no 3d was insanely well written.. loved that haha
I had it - after like a week it crashed every tim ei opened it. wow, this brings back memories of playing in survival then switching to creative like a wimp
By the way, it’s funny that the version of Minecraft on 3DS came out almost at the same time as the release of this game on Nintendo Switch. LOL
New 3rd edition is actually like Java edition 1.12.2 without the combat changes
if you don't have a village, why not cure zombie villagers?
NGL this video reeks of old RUclips vibes, random funny skits, the deranged moment halfway thru. Nice video 10/10 👍
As soon as you started “singing,” I knew I HAD to subscribe. 👍
This video is hilarious, I had to subscribe after that song about the 3D effect
Fun fact: Minecraft New Nintendo 3DS Edition does have a physical copy, although I don't know if it was released somewhere else besides the USA.
This video was made so well!! Keep up the effort!
do people forget the hole cure a zombie villager
19:42 you have good taste in art
This version succeeds at giving you a "Minecraft-lite" experience on the go. Were you really going to combat the ender dragon on the subway ride home? Can you make a fun cottage and farm while you wait for your spouse to catch up with her folks? It's good for what it is, but I doubt anyone would be satisfied if this was their only platform to experience the game with.
Your channel gives me a very warm and cozy vibe. Im not sure how else to explain it, but i feel welcome here, like im listening to a friend explain something niche or cool he found. Ill subscribe, youre pretty cool!
Aww thanks a lot! That's very motivating and cool to read :)
