    Very interesting video. I think another part of why servers are losing players is that the resurgence of minecraft in 2019-2022 is wearing off. Even if the pandemic didn’t happen and the last few updates were done perfectly, the game can’t keep itself in the resurgence age forever.

    Minecraft has been trending downhill because of a multitude of factors. The server scene has become blander, there's an oversaturation of content and SMPs, the Minecraft community not being as tightly knit, to people just growing up just like what happened before when the game went downhill in the past. I'm willing to bet there will most likely be more resurgences. This game is nowhere near dead, along with the servers.

    Very well made video, I basically agree to everything said in this video. I hope to see more resurgences in time but I think another ray of hope is if Mojang takes the time to fix the very apparent issues with the game, especially on the bedrock side of things. I bet if 1.19 didn't have the FPS / input delay issues, along with pink glitch, a lot of bedrock edition servers would still be down but not to the degree it is now. Plus, it would offer servers more functionality with the game itself to allow for more updates.

      Good take. Mojang has been working around on fixing long-term MCBE bugs, recently being 1.19.50.21, with the Nether Glitch being patched out of the game. New bugs do happen from time to time, and if Mojang can work to resolve these bugs, then it’s a good time for Bedrock Edition.

    I think one of the problems too is the lack of minigames in the servers, I used to play a lot of those back in 2013, you could find games like, hunger games, destroy the nexus, humans vs zombies, protect the village, capture the flag, LoL type of games too, pinturillo, I remember playing a team fortress 2 game mode in a server, some CoD type of games as well etc. nowadays all I can find is factions, survival and creative (these are just the base game), bedwars, pixelmon (literally a mod anyone can download), skywars, and not much more, they are always the same and now the servers are full of advertisements and paid cosmetics, there's not that sense of community there used to be back in 2013 where there used to be a lot of lobbies for different game modes and everyone talked to each other and added each other on social media to continue playing together, nowadays that got lost somewhere.

Single player has been getting more attention on social media rather than minigames ( at least from what I've seen ) . People are just growing up and slowing down to enjoy vanilla Minecraft. Humans are weird we can only handle so much new and excitement till we get bored and long for slow and old things.

    Minecraft has tens of millions of users, so it isn’t the game’s popularity decline. It’s the fact every server never listens to its own players or their suggestions.
    When you ignore the population that supports your platform you start to fail. So many servers have died for the fact they never want to change. They want to add half assed updates that do the bare minimum.

    Pandemic really did helped Minecraft because the way how you can use it to socialize with others when everyone is locked in their homes. And now, people are going out, that is one less reason to play Minecraft anymore.
    I think it's unfair for Mojang to be blamed solely because Hypixel and some other minigames server does not really depend on Mojang at all. Keep in mind that these Networks use 1.8 version to run their servers so whatever Mojang do will not affect them in anyway with an exception for SMP servers of course. Hence, these Networks should be at least take responsibility that their servers are somewhat dying due to their lack of updates and stuff.
    Anyway, I believe one factor that you forgot to mention which I really think what made Minecraft servers dying is because there are other games which people prefer nowadays such as Valorant, Genshin Impact, Roblox, etc. Most of my players switched to other games and I can't really blame them because it is what it is.

    I have been on SO MANY servers, and offered reasonable suggestions to help fix the playability and balance for them, and they get ignored. Much of this is simple plugin adjustments and additions. Things like /rtp only working from spawn for some reason? Quest rewards auto dumping to the player inventory instead of having to be clicked to accept the item, causing people to lose quest rewards, being far too generous with vote rewards, and making many items cheap or easy to buy, causing there to be zero reason to actually mine anything. Just broken economies designed by some 22 year old kid who thinks they know what they are doing. It's just awful.

    For me I think one issue is that as more updates get released servers become more unstable, not due to what’s inside the updates but rather due to back porting old ones, remember people still play Minecraft 1.8, a full 11 update back because of the new combat system, because of this server support 1.8 connection but also need to support all other versions, all with different codes and blocks, and the more updates that get launched the more unstable this is, it’s also likely expensive and buggy as hell, and all that mojang really needs to do in order to help server operators is have any sort gamerule that removes the weapon cool down so that spam clicking returns and servers can drop old support in favor of newer support, and it’ll be fun to play with shields, netherite and crossbows in servers, but sadly we likely won’t due to the fact mojang won’t write that line of code and rather tease a combat update in some snapshots then abandon it the next one

  • @carrotgod3974
    @carrotgod3974 Год назад

    here’s the way I look at the hypixel development thing. the way I look at things is that pvp based per round games such as skywars do not nearly have the potential to continue going for years and years to come. At the end of the day there is only so much complexity you can add for a game that ends in 5 minutes, popular games still receive updates (and by god I have no idea how they even think of some of these) but I just simply don’t see the potential in them with something like skyblock. The game has ran it’s time and now there’s a new game with much higher potential that’s receiving a lot more attention. This isn’t necessarily something hypixel has done wrong, games eventually fall out of fashion and are replaced by others, hypixel not wasting time by shoving a significant portion of their cash into the hands of a once popular gamemode that has fallen out of style is a good thing. Out with the old, in with the new.

    • @carrotgod3974
      @carrotgod3974 Год назад

      even then I just get annoyed with mojang when it comes to the topic of hypixel dying. 1.19 has been shown as a version with a lot more potential, and hypixel themselves (backend developer specifically) specified that they could update to later versions just fine, it’s simply that a majority of their playerbase plays on 1.8 (around 70%) so it wouldn’t be worth it. The more I think about this the more I credit this downfall to mojang. The only reason people still play on 1.8 is because of the terrible changes mojang have made whether that be in the performance department or combat department, bottlenecking the only thing keeping minecraft as a game alive
