Thank you for this video! As a beginner i wanted to ask, when transferring the vinyl to the shirt to you have to use the cricut press or will a regular iron work?
Hi Megan! Yes, you can use an iron. I used one for a very long time until the EasyPress came on the market. The difference is that the EasyPress will get to a consistent 400 degrees, where an iron will not. Plus, in the beginning I made the mistake of leaving the steam on. Make sure you turn your steam off. I will say that my shirts last many many washes longer with the EasyPress because of the consistent even heat, but the iron will work. Hope that helps! And thanks for watching. I hope you'll subscribe! ☺💕

Hey there! If you mean Cricut Design Space, yes! With the machine you have FREE access to Design Space. There are tons of images in the system that are free and there are ones you can buy. Hi! I loved your video, Im a beginner with the Cricut Joy learning to make shirts for kids i was just wondering where can i buy the Iron on vinyl that you’re using ? The smart iron on vinyl i get at walmart is a little bit and i feel like i waste so much of it and it runs out fast! Can you give me any tips or advice ? please and thank you !
I would love to see these steps on my iPad because there is a lot of different things that you have on your machine that’s not on CRICUT or I am missing it. Thanks for sharing
Hey Sharon! The mobile app is a bit different from the desktop. I use it primarily for video because it's easier for me to screen record. :) What functions are you having a hard time finding on your iPad? Thanks for watching!
Thank you Kim for writing back, I found out what I needed, it was so frustrating not being able to find it but I guess it was an update issue , you hVe to hit the layers and highlight and click on cut and the colors come up.Thanks so much
Hey there! When you go through Design Space it will turn it on the mat for you and depending on your shirt size, I usually go with 9" wide on a medium shirt. Thanks so much for crafting with me!
Hi Michelle! So glad you like the design. Unfortunately I turned the font to outlines when I made the design (many months ago!) and I don't recall exactly what those two fonts are. I think it's Black Forest. Thanks for watching!!
Kim, my friend is trying to use her Joy. It gets to the point of load in the machine and she cannot get any further. it will not give her an green button to begin the cutting. She was able to cut the first time with the sample vinyl, but it will not work to do the iron in. Does she need to use a mat? We are not sure if it is her phone which is what she is using or the machine.
If her material is "smart" material then she doesn't need a mat. But if her iron on material is just regular iron on then she needs to use a mat. Smart material is marked as "smart' on the packaging and it has a white lip all the way around which is what the machine uses to feed it in. I hope this helps and she gets everything working!
Hi Mayra! So glad you like the video! As for the tshirts, you can use any kind. I buy from Target, Hobby Lobby, Amazon, etc. If you want to try the Infusible Ink with your Cricut Joy, you'll get best results from a Cricut brand shirt. But for iron-on, any kind is fine. Thanks so much for watching! I hope you'll subscribe! 💕

Good morning! You can download this design in the link below the video for free and then upload it to Cricut Design Space. 💕 And I have a little video sharing how to upload. It's super easy and once you get the hang of it you'll upload all kinds of things. ruclips.net/video/4xZuxTc6MfQ/видео.html AND, I have a Cricut Design Space series to teach you about each of the tools. They're all quick videos to help you learn how to make things on your own. ruclips.net/p/PLYJAbsWmbUWat-ZVX_gVMwIQlUo4VNVef As for measuring, just size your image in Cricut Design Space however big you'd like it to be. I usually make my shirt designs about 8" wide for my shirt size. Once you cut it you'll be able to center it on your shirt however you'd like so yes, you can put it in the top left corner of the canvas in Cricut Design Space. Thanks so much for watching and happy crafting!!! 😊
My husband got me the cricut joy for Christmas. I'd hoped to use it to make shirts for our disney trip but it is looking like the joybis not big enough to make the designs I'd wanted?
Hey KC! Are you able to break up your elements and cut vertically to make them work? Or use the contour tool to break the design apart and cut elements separately. Here's a quick video on contour if it helps: ruclips.net/video/vP5EaZoM96c/видео.html
@@KimByers that video helps a lot thank you. Also how do you mean cut? Can I cut it in half and print the left half then the right or top and bottom amd then apply ot Soni can then do up to a 9 inch image instead of the 4.5 the joy allows?
@@kcandyou5263 Good morning! For instance, on this Prayer Warrior design, if the elements were all one, you can use the contour tool to break them apart. Check out the video I shared, but basically you can duplicate an image. From one version remove part of the design to make it smaller, then in the duplicate, keep what you deleted from the first and delete what you kept. It's hard to explain in text, but the videos help. Contour basically allows you to isolate each element in a design to cut them separately. I hope it works for your design!!
Hi there Tamara! The iron works, but the heat press or EasyPress is the key to your shirt lasting 50+ washes. An iron, even a good one, ranges in heat. The EasyPress is a consistent heat and can go up to 400 degrees. There is a guide linked below this video that you can use to select your fabric and your iron on material (glitter, regular, foil) and it will give you the exact heat, pressure, seconds and peel off temp. If you love making shirts and using iron on, you'll want an EasyPress. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!! 💕
You'll need to use your computer for upload, but once you have it in Design Space you can use your phone to cut the design! Thanks for watching and happy crafting!
So glad you like the video! And thanks so much for letting me know about the link! I corrected it, but it's out of stock right now. You can however click the button so that they email you when it's back in stock.😄 It's on sale! 💕
Hi there! Honestly, I use my phone to collect ideas or when I'm away from my craft room just to pull things in so I don't forget, and then I go to my desktop to do all the heavy lifting in Cricut Design Space. 😂 The phone app is great, but it's just not as easy as working on my computer with a real screen. Sorry I'm not more help! Thanks so much for watching and best of luck with the app. 💕
Hi Schuyler! Do you mean the laser paper with the infusible ink pens? Or regular printable transfer sheets? The Joy does support infusible ink transfer sheets and pens. It does not however support printed designs like the Explore and the Maker. I hope that answers what you were asking!
You're going to LOVE your new Cricut Joy!! I love my little Joy machine and it works perfectly for smaller designs. I make a lot of designs that are larger for canvas prints and sometimes on Tshirts so I use my Maker for those, along with sewing projects, wood art, etc. 💕
Hey Georgia! If you mean did I mirror image, then yes! You will always mirror image with iron on (also called HTV). You can find the toggle once you take the design to mat. It will be in the left navigation if you're on a computer. Thanks so much for crafting with me! 💕
Hey Richard! Check this video out: ruclips.net/video/GjuBH8niL3c/видео.html I think it will help answer some of your questions about bringing in images and making them into designs you can print/cut. Thanks so much for watching!
You can! It's optimal to have a press that will do the entire design at one time, but it's not critical. Just make sure you cover all the areas before you're done. Thanks so much for watching and happy crafting!
You can absolutely use your phone or an iPad. There is a new Cricut Joy app in the app store. 😍💕There is only an IOS version right now, but they're working on an Android version!
Stephanie - absolutely!! I used an iron for a very long time before the EasyPress came on the market. The EasyPress is much more accurate (consistent higher heat allowing the design to last longer through the wash), doesn't steam (which can mess up your design) and offers a bigger surface area, but yes, an iron will work! Thanks so much for watching! 💕
I wish I could see your screen. 😬 I could be much more help! Try this: Click off of all the items so nothing is highlighted, click on the grouping of the two words you want to work with, ungroup them or detach them, depending on what you have working already, and hide (click the eye) on the one you don't want. This should leave you with one layer so you can change the color. Hope this helps!!!
Hmmm. I just went into my Design Space and with a fully grouped design, was able to separate them all. Without sitting next to you and seeing your screen I'm not sure how to help. Maybe start with a fresh project and bring the design in again. Click on the design and it should all be highlighted. Go to the top right on your screen and Ungroup. This will separate Prayer from Warrior. Click on Warrior and repeat the ungrouping. Now all three should be separate elements and you can change colors, choose to hide or delete an element, etc. I hope you're able to make the shirt!!!
I so wish I could craft over your shoulder! Are you on your computer or your phone? Did you click on the items in the layers panel? If not, click there and when it's highlighted "ungroup". Sometimes when I'm using my phone I find it harder to click the right element. I hope you can figure it out. I'd love for you to make the shirt!!
Mine has held up wonderfully! I will say that using the EasyPress and the right heat has everything to do with the longevity of a design. 😊 Happy crafting and thanks for watching! 💕
Hi Biana! It's likely one of two things. You are either trying to remove the protective layer before it has cooled down enough, or you're using a foil iron-on. Foil requires a cool peel. Did you use the Cricut heat guide to make sure you had the right heat for the material? I have a link to it in the description of this video! Happy crafting!
why does mine (my cricut joy) always tell me I have to make it 4.5 X whatever? Anything over 4.5 is says incompatible? #SCREAM please help (someone, anyone) I'm so new to this, I want to send it back. I feel like I've purchased the wrong cricut product.
The Cricut Joy can't cut wider than 4.5 inches. It can cut really long pieces, up to 20 feet on some materials, but never wider than 4.5 inches. The Cricut Explore Air 2 and the Cricut Maker can both cut up to 12 inches wide. Sorry it's frustrating you!!
Hi! You're saying the letter in Prayer Warrior are together as one cut? If so, yes. I designed them to be a set of three cuts but grouped. Prayer is a word, and warrior is two cuts to be layered. If you want the two separate words to be spaced more apart from each other, just ungroup the design and shift the two cuts for Warrior down. Thanks for watching and happy crafting! 😊
Hi! So to cut and not print then cut, just change it in the "linetype" to cut. As for just cutting "warrior," you can turn the layers off in the "layers" to the right of the design. Hope this helps! 💕
Hey Rita! Look in your right hand navigation on Cricut Design Space. You can "ungroup" the design in layers. You may have to ungroup the entire design, and then click on "warrior" and ungroup those two items to get the words completely separate. Happy crafting! 😍

Contour basically allows you to isolate each element in a design to cut them separately. I hope it works for your design!!
Just ordered a Cricut Joy. What if I don’t have a Cricut press? I have a press for ironing. Will that work?
Sorry. Just read comments below.
I hope you enjoy your new Cricut!!! 💕 Make sure you subscribe! I have a ton of holiday craft ideas coming soon!
Does the heat press work better than an iron? I want it to last a few washes.
Can I use my phone to get the design to the circuit joy or does it have to be a computer or laptop
You'll need to use your computer for upload, but once you have it in Design Space you can use your phone to cut the design! Thanks for watching and happy crafting!
The link to the Bright Pad isn't working correctly. I clicked on it and it didn't work.
Thanks for the video.....great job!
So glad you like the video! And thanks so much for letting me know about the link! I corrected it, but it's out of stock right now. You can however click the button so that they email you when it's back in stock.😄 It's on sale! 💕
Pretty
Thanks so much for watching! Happy crafting!
It is so hard to do this on my phone.
Do you have a tutorial using just the phone with design space
Nice !!! Good job
Thanks so much Bree! 💕
Love it!!!
Thanks so much for watching Cindy! Happy crafting! 💕
Can you design and cut on the iron on tshirt transfer sheets with the joy?
Hi Schuyler! Do you mean the laser paper with the infusible ink pens? Or regular printable transfer sheets? The Joy does support infusible ink transfer sheets and pens. It does not however support printed designs like the Explore and the Maker. I hope that answers what you were asking!
I just bought the joy.. haven’t received it yet... do you like this better then the makers for tshirts? This was a great video... new Subbie
You're going to LOVE your new Cricut Joy!! I love my little Joy machine and it works perfectly for smaller designs. I make a lot of designs that are larger for canvas prints and sometimes on Tshirts so I use my Maker for those, along with sewing projects, wood art, etc. 💕
It is really hard to see my image so I bough a head lamp and it works great.
Oh, weeding can be so tough without good light. Happy crafting and thanks for watching!! 💕
Did you rotate your image or does the Joy rotate this automatically?
Hey Georgia! If you mean did I mirror image, then yes! You will always mirror image with iron on (also called HTV). You can find the toggle once you take the design to mat. It will be in the left navigation if you're on a computer. Thanks so much for crafting with me! 💕
Kim can you help I don't know how to get or make a svg I want a pacman Picture but can't upload it gives me error about path
Hey Richard! Check this video out: ruclips.net/video/GjuBH8niL3c/видео.html I think it will help answer some of your questions about bringing in images and making them into designs you can print/cut. Thanks so much for watching!
I have the mini press. Can I still do this?
You can! It's optimal to have a press that will do the entire design at one time, but it's not critical. Just make sure you cover all the areas before you're done. Thanks so much for watching and happy crafting!

Thank you so much. God Bless.
Do you need a laptop or Can you use your phone ??😕 i want to make t shirts for my logo but can’t buy a laptop yet thank you in advance
You can absolutely use your phone or an iPad. There is a new Cricut Joy app in the app store. 😍💕There is only an IOS version right now, but they're working on an Android version!
great video. just wish you showed how to browse and choose fonts. still a great video nonetheless.
Hi Kierra! I'll keep that in mind for my next video like this! Thanks for the feedback!! 💕
What if I don't own an easy press? Can I improvise and use iron?
Stephanie - absolutely!! I used an iron for a very long time before the EasyPress came on the market. The EasyPress is much more accurate (consistent higher heat allowing the design to last longer through the wash), doesn't steam (which can mess up your design) and offers a bigger surface area, but yes, an iron will work! Thanks so much for watching! 💕
@@KimByers Thank you so very much for the timely response. Do you have a tutorial on Cricut Joy Infusibles?
I know you answered this question already but I’m not able to ungroup the items because it’s not highlighted so that I can choose that option
This still doesn’t work and I really want to make that shirt
Kim Byers I’m sorry but I still can’t get it to work I don’t know what else to do thanks for your help
Hi Kim. I a new subscriber. Have been watching some of your older videos and would love some of your designs. Is there a place I could purchase?
Wanda - thanks so much for watching! 😍I have an Etsy shop with my designs. www.etsy.com/shop/CelebrationShoppe

What program are you using on the computer?
Hi Ashley! I'm using Cricut Design Space for desktop. There is also a Cricut Joy app. Thanks for watching and happy crafting! 💕
How does it hold up in the wash?
Mine has held up wonderfully! I will say that using the EasyPress and the right heat has everything to do with the longevity of a design. 😊 Happy crafting and thanks for watching! 💕
Why does my vinyl look wrinkled when finished ? Am I putting too much heat?
Would I be able to make adult size t shirts with the joy?
Absolutely! This shirt is adult size. You would just have to keep the largest cut within 4.5" tall. 💕
Kim Byers & one more question would I also be able to use Infusible Ink to create the same size shirt or would I have to get the air?
Kim Byers would I be able to use infusible ink with this as well? Same size circuit shirt?
Can I use my heat press machine
Hi Octavia! Yes, absolutely. I just happen to have the EasyPress.
why does mine (my cricut joy) always tell me I have to make it 4.5 X whatever? Anything over 4.5 is says incompatible? #SCREAM please help (someone, anyone) I'm so new to this, I want to send it back. I feel like I've purchased the wrong cricut product.
The Cricut Joy can't cut wider than 4.5 inches. It can cut really long pieces, up to 20 feet on some materials, but never wider than 4.5 inches. The Cricut Explore Air 2 and the Cricut Maker can both cut up to 12 inches wide. Sorry it's frustrating you!!
@@KimByers Thank you for responding. The most things I'm having trouble with are images.
What was the font size you used on Prayer?
Hi Cindy! I'm not sure now because I turned the font into a cut, but it's roughly 7.5 inches on this shirt. Happy crafting! 💕
I can not find the SVG. Thank you.
Hi there! The link is in the description of the video. Thanks for watching! 💕😊
Just purchased but when I printed it out, all the letters were together and not spaced out
@@KimByers thank you
Watching video love
Thanks so much Kristal! 💕💕
I can’t figure out how to cut warrior separate and how to make it just cut and not cut and print
Hi! So to cut and not print then cut, just change it in the "linetype" to cut. As for just cutting "warrior," you can turn the layers off in the "layers" to the right of the design. Hope this helps! 💕
Can I print a logo like Nike??
Hi Jennifer! You can cut any shape you can create or find. I will warn you there are copyright laws. 😬Happy crafting!
if you can't see the lines you can use baby powder.
Never heard that tip before! Thanks for watching Fatima! Happy crafting!
I could not get the two words to separate so that I can change the colors and print them separately
Hey Rita! Look in your right hand navigation on Cricut Design Space. You can "ungroup" the design in layers. You may have to ungroup the entire design, and then click on "warrior" and ungroup those two items to get the words completely separate. Happy crafting! 😍
Thanks I will try that. I’m still learning here so please don’t judge me. Lol
Never Rita! We all start somewhere!! 💕
I just signed up for your weekly emails!
So wonderful to have you! We'll have a new email full of fun out in a few days! 💕
That joy is so darn small had to get the air2
Totally understand! I love my little Joy, but I also have a bigger machine for all the bigger projects. Congrats on your Air 2! 💕
Love it!
Thanks so much for watching! 💕
