    I really like your videos. I have been training with Calisthenics for a month. Doing straight sets on Pull-ups, Chin-ups, dips, push-ups(various variations), squats, and some ab work. I can already tell a difference. I just wanted to say thanks.

    I can confirm what he said is 100% true
    I've been in gym for 7-8 months , at the beginning my grip was weak and my skin used to tear and burn sometimes . Now I have thick skin and I never feel anything while hanging . Just my LATS get tired (forearms became solid now when their weakness used to be the reason while I stop hanging, pulling up and even stop many other excercies bc of the failure in my forearms)

    I tried wearing gloves recently when some of the hardened skin suddenly peeled off. However, I found it very awkward and harder to maintain the grip. I just waited out until my hand healed and never used gloves again but now I am thinking that there may be some benefit to them - like using Fat Gripz.

  • @Robzi_1000

    I train basically daily without gloves. It's hard at first and you will have to stop some sessions at times. But your hands get used to it fast and you become way , way stronger would recommend.

    One possibility you didn't explore is "athletic tape." Climbers use tape when they have already torn some skin or have some spots where the skin is wearing thin. Another tip is to sand down the rough edges of calluses so they don't rip off. For this you can use a small piece of sandpaper or a nail file.
    Thanks for all your great videos!

    • @tehredundant
      @tehredundant 7 лет назад +4

    • @ConscientiousOmnivore
      @ConscientiousOmnivore 6 лет назад +8

      +1 for your suggestion ehouse. Another great recommendation is to use moisturizer on your hands regularly. Despite at first thinking it will make your skin soft, it is actually quite good and makes the skin healthier and less likely to tear. I picked that up from rock climbing and it really makes a big difference. I like a natural sheabutter with nothing else in it. Works great.

    I bought this to replace a very similar item whose foam grips had worn after years of use. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxwyoGHi-cCLV1AqJYj7QeIWKSpdRMYPF1 This one is is even slightly better than the old one I had! (Sorry I don't remember the brand or model.) This bar sits a bit higher in the doorway, giving me more ground clearance for movement, and the foam grips and foam pads that protect the doorway are thicker. It was also very quick and easy to assemble. The only minor gripe I have is that the hand grips in the middle are really tight on the bar, and therefore hard to slide along the bar if you want a wider or narrower grip. You have to be patient and gradually work them into the position you want.

    So, I suggest anyone with hand pain to try to find plastic bars to do hanging movements.

  • @MatiasStrengthCoach
    @MatiasStrengthCoach 7 лет назад +4

    Of course it depends on the individual, but I don't think any of that is necessary. Our body adapts to stress just as in regards to training, is kinda the same principle. I've been deadlifting and doing pull ups for some time and I never felt the need for any of this, although there were some times where calluses broke down but that may also be a sign to deload. Great videos man, keep it up ;) Cheers

    • @climbscience4813
      @climbscience4813 7 лет назад +2

      I don't think that basing your deloads on the condition of your skin makes too much sense. I agree with you though, unless you have a blister or an actual piece of your skin missing, you shouldn't use gloves. If you want to use anything, I would recommend climbing tape though, as you can wrap it around your hand/finger in a way that protects injured parts well without having too much effect on your workout and while still exposing the rest of your skin.

    • @MatiasStrengthCoach
      @MatiasStrengthCoach 7 лет назад +2

      I don't base my deloads on my skin conditions, I follow a program with periodized deloads. I'm just saying that constant skin tear might be one of many factors to look at when looking at overtraining sympthoms, along with stress levels, fatigue, training performance, sleep quality, etc

    Anyone who argues otherwise is obviously oblivious to the fact they're wearing shoes for a reason. No one would argue that running in bare feet allows you to perform better than if you're wearing the appropriate shoes. Same applies to gloves. I've been wearing gloves for years and it allows me to lift heavier, avoid injury, which allows me to lift more often.

    Gloves are mainly for PUSH exercises, such as a bench press. They protect your hands from muscle inflammation and your skin. They are not for grip purposes. On the other hand, if you want better grip you will need to invest in straps or a mix of glove-straps, these are essential once you have reached "peak grip" in your hands in order to to add on extra weight, think of deadlifts or any type of row exercises in this regard.

    I like training with gloves but I understand that the skin doesn't get used to the pressure that way.

    Totally agree with regard to pull-ups. Bare hands all the way for the feel of the bar. Build up the calluses on your hands and ditch the gloves asap. Having said that I suffer from Reynauds and have big problems if I touch cold things so I've had to learn to use super thick waterproof gloves for outside training when the temperature drops and always do my pull-ups indoors during the colder months. Getting older is a bitch sometimes.

    I usually workout bare handed, I tried wearing gloves before but it didn’t feel right.

    In addition to the budda tatoo at your right arm, are you familiar with Alan Wats lectures? If not then I highly recommend u check them out. He's got a very interesting philisophy of life.

    Dude, I don't if you're focusing on skill training, or if you're trying a different type of diet plan, so I'm not gonna judge, but you were looking way more muscular about two months ago. Just giving you an honest feedback :)
    Keep up the good work, you're amazing!

      Thanks. I weighed more, but had a lot more fat. Maybe you like this look, but I prefer being as lean as I can :P
