  • Learn when, why and how to use wrist wraps for lifting. Did you know there's a left hand and right hand version?!
Wrist wraps, which are different from lifting straps, can help prevent wrist extension (bent wrists) on heavy pressing movements such as the bench press or overhead press. Wrist wraps can become a crutch, so make sure you wear them only for heavier pressing movements where you struggle to maintain wrist straightness.

Same here, I had to get a serious wrist splint to help heal my wrist before going back to my lifts. These splints have a metal rod to really stabilise your wrist so that you don't move/injure it more while you are healing.

This is a common issue for me. No matter how much I try to strengthen my grip or wrists, increasing the weight on bigger lifts usually leaves me with 1-3 sprains per year and it sucks. I'm on a break week right now because of this shit

@@bobsacamano4 I felt the same way I have relatively small wrists. And honestly I had to change how I lifted. I realized that my form was off and that my left wrist was prone to bending. So I basically had to purposely hold my left wrist straight. Eventually over time it got stronger. So now I don't experience wrist sprains. But recently I got some wrist straps just in case.

Recently upgraded to these 3x super heavy duty wrist wraps from goblin gear and 100% a game changer even more with protection, for me it just shows how important certain lifting gear is and id definitely encourage anyone to at least try wrist wraps out.

Just wanted to say what a great informative video. You answered all my questions. I will add that I currently use 18 inch ones and they give a lot of support. I couldn't imagine a 24 inch one. Plus one for the detailed explanation on how to specifically wrap them. That was the main reason I was here as I feel I've been wrapping them a little too low and it looks from this that I was correct. Will wrap more at the base of the hand now. Thanks again.

Something that rarely gets talked about
Wrist wraps keeps ur wrist closed and tight while benching.
Why thats important: The bar wont slip and crush ur chest while benching.
    Do a simple test.
Make a fist with one hand to simulate a bench press.
With the other hand squeeze the wrist that has the fist.
Now try slowly opening your fist.
You should notice a big difference
Protect yourselves especially during a heavy bench.

Are they even a good idea? I saw your video about how squatting with the right cueing should eliminate knee pain. An interesting thing i learned from this video was to pop off the wraps between sets. Is this something that would be helpful for people with hyper mobility in their wrists? I injure my wrists constantly opening doors just from the push, so im afraid to start lifting.

Might talk to doctor about, but SHOULD help. They're cheap, so worth a try with small amount of weight.
