    I'm so glad you mentioned Loake. I've been wearing looks for over 30 years, mainly Oxfords. I was a restaurant manager in high end hotels and restaurants for many years and Loakes were always the shoes I wore for work. When you are on your feet for most of the day then very good shoes are a necessity.

      @breabanm 5 лет назад +2

      @@stedye I live in Germany and I went for the lower end of the spectrum with Shoe Passion making up the backbone of my shoe collection. I can wholeheartedly recommend Shoe Passion on quality, just ensure that the shoes fit properly or you will be in a world of hurt. Literally. The shoe sizer printed from their German website gave me half a size (UK) more than what I needed. The first shoes I ordered from them seem to fit me well at first try on, but transformed into torture devices when I wore them longer. After this experience I went half a size down and the following pairs fit perfectly and never caused me any discomfort. I hope this helps.

    Meermin Shell Cordovan comes from two sources: Italian and Japanese. The Italian shell creases so it isn't shell. The Japanese is long lasting and has an amazing patina and shine. Unfortunately, it is very stiff and it will eventually crack even with good care. Meermin's soles wear as tough as JR soles. Regardless of the cracking Meermin Japanese shell is a great value, buy casual styles and wear them without worry they can take the scuffs.

    As always Hugo, very interesting captivating video, I look forward to you part 2, I was ever so disappointing when i ran out of your videos to watch before the new year.
    As a Mixed Englishman I am a massive fan of Joseph Cheaneys shoes since Jonathan and William have taken them back to there heritage, particularly there imperial line than a certain person designed for them during his time with them (you can see a similarity between the imperials and the designers own of the shelf shoes) unfortunately Cheaneys are fading out the 208 last for the imperial in favor of a new last that l'm not as fond of.
    I will make a point to try a pair or two from Paris, Spain and Hungary this year starting with a trip to Paris where i will also try there suits as i do love the way the French do there solders. Cant believe i gave a French product a complement over a English one, but as you have also given your fair share of compliments to the English.
    Been meaning to send you a Message Thanking you for your videos as you can never imagine how much they helped me out of a time of server struggle, when i had almost seemed to have lost my passion for anything, two pacific videos that come to mind.

    I agree that the Loake 1880 range is fantastic value. I recently posted a review of my C&J Audley handgrades and compared them with my Loake Aldwych oxfords. The C&Js are beautiful shoes but it’s hard to ignore the fact that the 1880s are less than half the price and , while clearly lacking certain features, compare very well.

      SARTORIAL TALKS Yes, I moved to Australia from the UK and they have some strange overseas distribution policies. They have an Australian distributor but the prices are inflated - not worth it when I can buy Loake made shoes (1880 quality) from the Herring Shoes Classics range. Although I think Herring may be phasing out the Loake made shoes from their range. There is always eBay.

    5:04 "Maaaybe a bit difficult to break in"... Listen, it could hurt like hell if your feet aren't "standard" 😂. The break-in period could also be incredibly smooth depending on your feet and style/last. The only thing I want to say to those who are looking to buy a pair at Meermin for the first time is that you can expect some blemishes and imperfections on the shoe. Also, the shoe will most likely smell like glue when you unbox them.
    Also, Herring isn't only a distributor! They sell their own shoes under their own name! Some of which are made by Carlos Santos. Their Dainite soles are beautiful (yes, you read that right) and their service is THE BEST I'VE EVER COME ACROSS ON THE INTERNET EVER. Even with international orders. They're definitely worth a look.

You would think they would be at the forefront in some ways. They strive for health and aesthetics of the body, but seem to stop there, most of them. It's too bad.
