One of the rare times that i could watch 49 minutes video, really enjoyed watching & listening to your knowledge, Thank you for the valuable informations.
So many comments about You, our Icon Hugo, but also we have to remember that there is always a woman behind a great man! You both are Icons, Hugo and Sonia! Love your work! R.
Very informative. I would have thought the penny loafer was an American shoe -- good to know it was made by JM Weston. And thank you, thank you, thank you for including the American tassel loafer from Alden. It is a classic and indeed a staple for gentlemen in the US.
With the Button Balmoral boot the tool as I call it is "Button Hook". I made my own with a little paper clip and a popsicle stick. Simple tool. They work great when your fingers no longer do.
A fantastic video. My late father liked shoes by Church's or by Florsheim. From your video, I adore the Vilalta Deacon Chelsea boot and the Gucci loafer.
My button boots can be put on by hand without a buttonhook, however it does take more work than laces. I can put on both shoes in a minute and a half. I'm actually wearing them now!
I really like that you soften your stance on the wear of shoes. Guess what? You actually enjoyed it. I love this. This is called living life. I salute you sir.
Goodness me ... what an enjoyable episode! The sneeze and the conspiratorial, hushed confession of wearing Loafers with no socks 😱 ... hilarious! The List of Iconic Shoes ... simply wonderful. The Homage paid to the various Shoemaking Houses and individual, extrordinary Artisans ... very respectful. Thank you, once again, to both Hugo and Sonya for a very enjoyable and educational experience ... tuning in to Sartorial Talks is like hanging out with close Family and shooting the breeze, about a mutually loved topic, over coffee.
Just gained even more respect for you, Hugo, when I recognized the french lining on what probably is a Clairfontaine cloth-bound notebook that you wrote your notes on. A gentleman in all the aspects, as always.
Thank you my friend. And concerning the Arca patent leather, it's a wonderful shoe but not that easy to pull off because of the color. But as the boldest sartorialist in Oregon, I'm sure you can make this work! All our best to you and your wife. Hugo & Sonya

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Your passion for the subject is infectious. Over the past year I have adjusted my diet and lost about 25 pounds. I told myself that when I slimmed down I would redo my wardrobe. I'm so happy to have found your channel before making my choices. Your video on which suits to purchase when building a wardrobe of a gentleman is priceless. I'll be taking your advice, for sure. Two points. One, I love the fact that you left the sneeze in the final cut. You are so genuine. I'm sure you might have been tempted to edit it out. I'm glad you didn't. Secondly, next time have your wife come from behind the camera and say ' hello' to us before the videos ends. By the way, I also enjoyed your video with Kirby Allison.

And now due to watching your videos for guidance my second pair are "new" handgrade black cap toe oxfords by Carlos Santos. Thank you very much for your unbiased advice and knowledge on shoes.
I just returned from Morocco with a pair of Bensons. It's a third generation handmade shoe shop in Casablanca. They are very close to the Berluti whole cut and I chose them as an excellent example of the shoemaker's art.

SARTORIAL TALKS., great overview. I think drivers belong on the list as well :) Also, this video is an overview of the models. I'd love to see a guide about the shapes of shoes - how squared the tip should be (e.g., on the Bontoni the tip looked a little brutal for me), the bubbles, the slopes, and the silhouettes of the front, etc. The rim - how wide should it be, how aggressive should the stitching be, and so on.
