I would like to add my thanks for all the wonderful comments below. I was one of the guys who helped to temporarily fix noralys fork seal.
That was me laying on the floor tying off the piece of string with Chris's help.
It was a pleasure to meet her on her travels. There is more to come,
All of your comments brought a tear to my eye. Thank you all very much.
    And noraly, keep travelling.
Love you for what you are doing. I wish I'd done more when I was younger, though I'm still getting around. 11 countries this year. And I've ridden in probably 25 countries over the years. 8 in the last 6 weeks.

Used to be more common. I remember my dad helping everyone, heck one time he helped a guy drive new bearings and seals into his differential on his jeep in the middle of the woods.
Just yesterday however I was returning from kayaking in my car, a guy on a HD was off on the side of the road near my house, a road where literally 100+ HDs an hour AT LEAST go by (very popular scenic drive). I stopped to check on him, he said he'd been there for half an hour, dozens of guys rode right on by him, I was the first to stop. His buddy was on the way with a trailer but I was sad that even amongst the HD brotherhood there wasn't a single one of them who cared enough to check on the guy.
Makes me almost want to stop waving at these guys on the road.

@@davidcolinfisher1034 Maybe, maybe not. Neither one of us was there to see exactly what was going on with that seal. Seems to me it was probably incorrectly installed. I saw the fork seal retaining clip sitting on the dust seal. My guess is that it was not fully seated by whoever changed her seals. Otherwise I can't figure why it would have already been gushing oil like that. And I'm not so sure re-routing the brake line would have been so easy. You'd have to disconnect the brakes, introducing air to the line, losing brake fluid. If they had no brake fluid to refill with, I'd leave it alone until I was in a place to take care of it. It was an improvised emergency road-side repair that did what it was intended to do; it got her to Anchorage.

I too broke a fork seal on the road between Tok and Glenallen. A hard to see frost heave created a 4-5 inch curb type rise of the asphalt that was essentially the same color and value and I hit it doing 45-50 mph as I slowed as much as I could before hitting it. The impact was compounded a bit because of this as the weight of the bike , myself and my gear shifted forward when hard braking. I was unable to get parts or service for my bike in Alaska without waiting 4-5 weeks so I had to ride back home on one fork. It really wasnt too bad except I had to watch my speed when going down inclines and turning, especially with the gear weight etc. I could share so many stories about that trip but will wrap it up by saying Thanks for sharing your adventures with us Noraly! I am enjoying them and the way you film and produce your videos reminds me of riding on my own trips.

You touched on a couple "fears" I have while riding -- finding myself short of cash and none of the cards work. And an unexpected mechanical problem. The big difference for me though is I'm not in the wilderness. I guess I should quit worrying and move ahead. You model a real adventure spirit.
And I have to say the scenery, landscapes, and people you meet become more and more interesting all the time. A great video!

Idk. She did a ton of rough riding and eating mud with the bike. A muddy bike and one branch sticking into the seal is enough to press dirt into it... The only thing you can do is to control the seals and the chrome for dents&leaks. But sometimes stuff breaks, even when installed properly.

    • @lessmore444
      @lessmore444 2 года назад +13

Idk…properly installed fork seals don’t just fall out & that brake line routing isn’t just bad, it’s potentially dangerous. Not saying it was intentional “sabotage”, but poor work that creates equipment fails & safety hazards needn’t be to still cause serious issues.

She doesn't like riding on paved roads, and her riding skills can stand a good deal of improvement. Her bike has well over 15,000 miles on it, and it's loaded heavily.

Noraly, you know what? I've have been your subscriber for some time now, and normally I should have gotten used to your way of being by now. But, every time I watch a new episode, you manage to amaze me. I just can't believe that a woman like you really exists. No matter how strange or difficult a situation may be, even so, you manage to see a good side of that situation, no matter how unpleasant it may be. This fact is certainly not one of the characteristics of women generally speaking, or at least, I have never met one so far and by the way, I'm 64. Thank you Noraly, for everything you do for us. You take us with you to places where some of us, as men, hardly dare to dream. Surely most of us who "go" to all places with you, we would give a lot to sit at a campfire in Alaska and you to tell us everything you've been through. Thank you again Noraly!

Nothing seems to puncture your confidence and ability to enjoy whatever's happening, whatever the circumstances. As I said, you're admirable.

As a Canadian rider with adventure riding experience, i am ashamed and embarrassed by the TERRIBLE service at the Honda dealer in Whitehorse. First they made Noraly walk half an hour back to her hotel at the time of the service and then installed the fork seal incorrectly , such that it failed after only a few days of riding. Itchy Boots has received fantastic service for her bike throughout South and Central America and the US. Sadly her attempt to get the same level of caring was completely absent at Yukon Honda. I can only hope that Honda Canada gets word of this mess and has a word with the dealership. I shall miss your posts when the journey is over Noraly.

@Noraly, The seal that came out was the dust seal and that was pushed out by the oil seal letting go. But the Whitehorse dealer clearly didn't pay due care and attention when replacing the oil seals. If your able, try and buy genuine Honda oil and dust seals (in this instance genuine is ALWAYS better than pattern/3rd party parts). Hopefully the stanchions (chrome part) hasn't been scored by the dirt/oil etc.
And regarding my fellow brit motorcyclists, that's how we roll 🙂 I do it all the time, I managed to help a guy with a blown fuse and partially melted fuse-box on a Honda CBR900RR, he texted me a a few weeks later saying my repair had held up for a month until he was able to find a replacement fuse-box off ebay .
