@@cassstephens9910 My impression is that most styling tools are designed for those with long hair. It's hard to find even a curling iron with a small barrel.
@@cassstephens9910 I think they sell a smaller brush attachment for this on Amazon. My hair is shoulder length and very thin and the big barrel surprisingly works for me. Hope you find something!

I have the Revlon dry. I have fine hair, so I'm really careful when I use the tool. I let my hair dry about 80% before I use it and then try to only go through one or two passes at a time--so far I haven't noticed damage. I love how easy it is to use. Based on your recommendations (and some of the comments), I may go ahead and order the Hot Tool.
I like my Revlon too! My hair is very thin/fine and dries really quickly, so it doesn't cause any damage to my hair imo. I'm in the UK. I'm not sure if I can even get the hot tools stuff here.
As a hairstylist that only does blow outs…It’s all about the tension 🙌🙌🙌 I love the revlon version for the tension because my hair is so frizzy. After party is also a great after drying styling product to smooth the hair and calm down flyaways. Love the video ❤️
So I just went to Ulta today to by the hot tools and the tigi after party and WOW. I have had the revlon brush for a long time but this combo changes the game. My hair was so smooth and actually felt like I just left the salon. Which I don’t get with the revlon one. Thanks for the video!
As someone who has enough hair on my head for 3 people, and also hair that is very it's very frizz prone, I can also attest to the greatness of the hot tools dryer. It has really saved me so much time in styling my hair. It still takes me about 45 minutes to do my whole head, but if I used a round brush and dryer to do the same thing, it would Take me almost twice as long.
I had the Revlon brush. Not overly impressed. Bought the Hot Tools because of this video and it is 10X BETTER. Not as heavy. Not as hot. Grips hair so I don't have to hold it to the brush with my other hand. Disassembles. Hot Tools is so woth it. Thank you!!
Awesome comparison! Very fair and complete. I agree with your verdict: it all depends on what you want. I used to have the Revlon but it super started frying my hair and making it dry and split. I had to get rid of it. I have thick hair strand-individually but not a lot of it as 50% or more has fallen out in the past couple of years, unfortunately. So for me, volume is ESSENTIAL now. I would invest in a Dyson because I want the opposite of straight/flat hair. I don’t mind investing time or money on something that will yield my preferred results, for a long period of time and without the damage. But both sides looked amazing on you!! 😊💗
I rarely do anything with my hair but the hot tool brush looks so good! Your hair looks great with both but the hot tool brush seems so much quicker/easier and I love how sleek it makes your hair!
20 year hairstylist here and this is literally the opposite outcome of what I thought it was going to be. Because the brush on the Dyson is much flatter, I figured the side that was smoother and sleeker would be from the Dyson. And the Hot tools is bigger and rounder, so def figured the bigger, "floofier" side was from that; Generally the shape of the brush determines the shape of the outcome. But with a closer look at the bristle type on the Hot Tools(appears to have something like a boar bristle in there? Which grips the hair better) and the way you were using it to wrap each lock around the whole unit, now it makes sense. 👍🏻 Very cool!!
I can't style my hair for the life of me so I always just clip it back. I tried your tips last night with my Revlon version and my hair seriously looks just like yours! This was the best, most easy to follow video! THANK YOU!
I love the way the Hot Tools ones makes your hair look. I have been wanting to buy the Revlon brush but i think i might get the Hot Tools. The Dyson just seems like more of a hassle because of all the attachments and the price is absolutely ridiculous. Your hair is amazing. So pretty. I love watching your videos.
I asked for the Hot Tools as a Christmas gift based on your recommendation and I’m IN LOVE! Nothing smoothes and styles my wavy/curly hair as well and as fast as it does! Also, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the Oribe oil, I HIGHLY recommend trying the Verb ghost oil, it’s available at Ulta and makes my hair so smooth and shiny!
I ordered the Revlon and the Hot Tools based on your recommendation and experienced the same thing!: after a while of using the Revlon I noticed some breakage and I have really thick hair. I immediately threw it out and got the Hot Tools. Best purchase ever! It works fast and gives you sleek strands. I def recommend the Hot Tools brush for people who have really thick coarse hair because it makes your hair even sleeker than flat ironing it!
The Hot Tools is amazing!! I've been using it for about 3 years and I will never use anything else - it blows out my hair to straight sleek perfection with minimal effort. I'm amazed every time I use it.
I have both tools. Dyson is a lot of work for me, I have wavy hair and very frizzy. The hot tools one is way better, I feel like I don’t need to work as much and I do get a better look.
I bought the hot tools brush after seeing you use it...and I love it!!! I had shoulder length hair when I bought it and it did incredible. I just recently cut my hair to my chin and it still works so well!! I love it for refreshing dry hair with dry shampoo on the low setting too. Gives back the volume and makes it sleek at the same time. My hair is an in between not straight and not curly texture and this has made life so much easier!
I love that you plug in the if you have back issues because as you know, that really is what can give people a good idea of whether they can actually do this themselves. I dunno if that made sense but, for me, my neck prevents me from styling my hair. Thanks for the review and tutorial! Awesome as always!
I ordered the Hot Tools brush after I watched your video recommending it. It has changed my life. I never knew what to do with my hair before and now it looks great every day.
I love my revlon hot brush. It's a game changer, I get a nice blow out in 15-20 minutes. I haven't noticed any hair damage and I love to use it with the loreal blow me dry gel from Amazon. Perfect combination 👌
I have the dyson and I use it to blow dry and straighten my hair every time I wash it. I use the flat brush to straighten. I still have to use a flat iron as well. I live in FL so it’s very humid here. My hair will frizz if I don’t flat iron it as well. I rarely ever curl my hair with the dyson because its too time consuming. I just purchased the hot tools because I was so impressed how it made your hair look!
There’s no way I’d pay $550 for a blow dryer, no matter what it does. I’ve been using the Revlon version of this for several years and I really like it.
Love how you explained how you use the hot tools one! I got the Hot tools product for Christmas from My mom, who later told me she purchased it on QVC. It came with the original brush head plus 3 different attachments. The attachments I have look very similar to the dyson flat brush and the curling brush. I think cost more then 55 though, maybe closer to 100. Def a lot more affordable then the dyson.
You did an outstanding job comparing these two hair appliances👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻 I like how you explained and showed in detail, at the very beginning, how to hold the brush properly, how to do the hand and wrist motions to use it, and the different positions to use the brush to get the look you want. Most videos from other RUclipsrs, just go very fast and dry their hair without explaining why they’re doing what they’re doing; they don’t teach and demonstrate as thoroughly as you do. I’ve been styling my hair using different methods for many years, but am always open to learning new ways of doing things. I’ve also found that many times, even when I am using the same styling method, but different hair products, will give me different results. Your hair turned out gorgeous!👍🏻
I can’t use the Revlon one. My hair starts smoking while I use it. It’s too hot and if I put it on the lower setting it takes too long to dry. I hate the Revlon one!! I have platinum colored hair and I baby it to keep it healthy and shiny and the Revlon does not help it. I will definitely try the hot tools dryer. I think your hair looks smoother with the hot tools than the Dyson side. Thanks for uploading this comparison!!
I like the Dyson Airwrap a little better than the Hot Tools(or other similar products). Downside, it went up to $599 recently. So if invested before, it literally appreciated:) The attachments for Dyson were quite too much, sometimes cannot figure out which attachment I need to use. BUT, in my personal experience, it cannot be beaten by the finishing look, long lasting, boucy, volumeand much more:) It's the first product that made me LOVE the blow dry. And I didn't have to perm my hair each year. Saved me during this sophisticated situation. Love the review. Thank you:)
I like the Dyson better too, it gave her more volume, the other side looks too flat, I don’t think it’s worth the 550 but it does a better job than the other one
I think the main point with the Dyson was that it’s meant to not damage your hair as much as regular hot tools do, not being a better styling tool per se, so maybe if you don’t do your hair every day or your hair isn’t damaged it won’t make a difference, but I can imagine that’s the selling point for many people 😊 (that’s why I’m considering buying it)
Back in the day when I used blow out my hair straight, I used the conair version of it. And even then it worked and looked good. But the Hot Tools one looks even better. I haven't seen my hair straight in about 3 years as I've given into my curls, but if I change my mind, I'd be picking up the Hot Tools brush.
I use the Kenra blow dry spray before going in with my hot tools blow dryer brush and it smooths so well and speeds up dry time. I think it also doubles as a heat protectant. Smells amazing too!
I use the hot tools brush and it's the only tool I've ever been able to get to work on my thick hair. Highly recommend it if, like me, you've always struggled with styling your own hair
i’m a cosmetology student and i was debating on investing in the dyson, i’m SO glad i watched this video! i will definitely buy the hot tools version and i can’t wait to create beautiful looks on all of my guests knowing that i can recommend it to them to get the look at home as well. thank you for this video!!! ❤️❤️❤️
More Dyson videos please! I finally got one and it's really changed my life (in regards to hair lol). I have fine hair and it's the only thing that has given me volume that lasts all day. But more tips and videos would be amazing. Btw, the Hot Tools side looks amazing too! Great options for those who don't want to sell their first born for a hair tool 😂
I agree. The Hot Tools side looks much better. In the after clips is harder to see the friz on the Dyson side, but you can definitely see it while you're drying. I'm going to investigate and see if I can buy Hot Tools in Australia 🤞🏻
I have very thick, very long hair which is almost to my waist. I only wash my hair every 2 weeks! It’s brown with blonde highlights so the less I wash and use heat the better bc of the bleached parts of my hair. It honestly looks best 4 or 5 days after I wash it because it’s so thick and long and does not get greasy at all. Anyways, I have the original Dyson hair dryer and the Dyson Airwrap along with the Hot Tools you used and the Revlon version. I used the Dyson dryer for years and loved it bc it’s so lightweight and I have back and neck issues so it’s great. However, the Airwrap has been in the box in my closet room (California Closets turned one of our bedrooms into a closet/vanity area) underneath my vanity since I bought it when it first came out! I had professional organizers come in to put everything away after California Closets finished the project and one of the organizers thought I had just bought the Airwrap since it was still in the box and when I told her that it’s been in the box for years since I bought it, her jaw just about hit the floor which is totally understandable! I even bought the longer barrels (ordered from the Dyson website) for long hair that don’t come with the Airwrap and I still haven’t used it! I just use the Hot Tools or my Dyson hair dryer (or just braid it and wrap it in a bun overnight) and the box just sits there! Since I have it, do you think it’s at least worth it to use the curling barrels to get some waves in my hair? Do you still recommend the cheap Conair curling iron (which I also have) for beachy waves/loose curls or have you found anything else? As a side note, even though you may not see this post, I have your makeup brushes and they’re great! You did a wonderful job! Thanks in advance if you or anyone else sees this and has some thoughts.🖤
Another tool that I LOVE and it’s price in between the dyson and hot tool is the Laneige Le Volume. It’s so easy to style my hair now and I use it on my 5 year old and 3 year old too!
What’s your hair type? I have the same tool as you, but I don’t have the best luck with it. I have fine, curly hair and I don’t get as sleek & smooth results. I get a decent amount of frizz. I do use a leave in conditioner spray and a blow dry balm.
Ok, I'm sold. Buying the Hot Tools. I have very similar hair type to you, Taylor - thick and wavy/curly. I never straighten my hair (aka once or twice a year maybe?) so perhaps it is just because this tool was missing from my life! Gotta at least try it. Give Rach and her beautiful Riley a big squeeze! Love and light to you, my friend!! 🖤🖤🖤
I LOVE the Hot Tools brush to give me a Victoria’s Secret blowout. Paired with Brad Mondo’s electrified and pin curls, I get SO much volume that lasts all day. With the right haircut, it’s my favorite way to wear my hair!
When you’re in Australia and the Hot Tools is $150 🥲 Still keen to try though! Also, I’ve been using the Bed Head after party for years and continue to repurchase because it’s one of the very few products that keeps my hair sleek without weighing it down due to the fact I have fine hair but a lot of it.
I have used the revlon for a couple years now and it hasn’t damaged my hair. I only use maybe once a week tho, so maybe that’s why. I got the dyson as a Christmas gift. Used twice and returned. I have thick curly hair and it would fall within an hour. $600 to have that happen and to be a hassle, just not with it. The hot tools looks nice too. If my revlon kicks it, I’d try that one.
I love the Living Proof Dry Volume Blast. I find throughout the day if my hair is looking less voluminous, you can rub the roots where the Dry Volume was sprayed. It seems to reactivate and my hair will have more volume.
Honestly I love the volume and the body on the Dyson side but I do I agree with you on the inconvenience of switching out the tools, the PRICE?! and the extra time all for basically the same look if you add volume spray at the end.
I definitely think the Hot Tools side looks best!!! Your videos are always so full of helpful information!! Hope you're enjoying where you are living, at the moment!!! Here's to good health and amazing memories!! Blessings to you, Taylor!! ✌️💚🙏
I love this type of video because it gives an alternative to something I would never spend the $$ for. No shade to anyone that does, I just have other places I would prefer to spend that much money. I own the Revlon, but I feel like it gets too hot and I'm trying to protect my hair more now that I'm getting older. I may try the Hot Tools. I really like the smooth, sleek look. My hair is a lot like yours so I appreciate the detail you put into the comparison.
I have the revlon and now the Lanege (smaller works better for my short hair) now I feel like I need the hot tools one! But who needs 3 round brush hair driers lol…the answer is me-I do!
I'm finally convinced, after being on the fence for a long time, to buy the Hot Tools! My biggest concern has been hair damage, and I've read way too many reviews to have felt sure about it or which one to pick. This concluded that for me, so thank you!
both are beautiful! The hot tools is obviously way more sleek but the Dyson gave you a wispy look, voluminous I guess. Love these tutorials and comparisons!! Thanks for doing them 😌
Well done! You’re content is always spot on. I have the same hair type that you have and this video is so helpful! I would have made a terrible mistake with my money. I appreciate you so much. 🌸
Hot Tools, hands down!!! I have the Revlon tool that is similar to the Hot Tools. Based upon your review here, I decided to that I’ll get the Hot Tools when my Revlon one dies. Thanks! 😁👍
I always wondered if these things would give my hair volume. I don't need it for straightening or for it to be sleek, I have super straight and fine hair. Awesome video
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Black hair is STUNNING on you but I would be so so excited to see a change on you. Maybe a red or a lighter brown. I would click SO fast 🤣❤
Yep def the budget brush dryers that came out before the Dyson are better at the sleek look. I got the Revlon one a couple of months back and it replaced my dryer and round brush, arm saving. Would never pay for the Dyson because I could achieve better results by getting individual tools for all the attachments which would be cheaper.
I recently got the Hot Tools based on your recommendation and it's a game changing product for me. I love blow outs but could never get the same look on my own. With the Hot Tools I can, and it's amazing. Thank you for the awesome recommendation 😁
Half tempted to buy the Hot Tools even though I have not straightened my hair in actual years at this point, and have no plans to any time soon. It looks so good!
I used to have the Revlon One Step and at first I really loved it but as I used it more and more I found it really hard to style the back of my head. Also not sure if you have this issue with the hot tools device but I also felt like the Revlon One Step was difficult to clean. I didn’t like that I couldn’t detach the brush and I would see dust and built up product left on the bristles. I have a Dyson air wrap that I am personally a fan of. I like having the different attachments and the case because it eliminates the need for me to have a hair dryer, straightener and curling iron. But then again I mostly like that “bed head” look and my hair is so thick that I don’t really style it much. I would be open to trying the hot tools device in the future but hoping it is a lot better than the Revlon one step
I akready bought the Revlon years ago because of you but always had the feeling that it damaged my hair. Was thinking about getting the Hot Tools for a while...and just ordered it. :) Thank you for this, again, great video!
Just ordered this took me two hours to find one as I’m in the UK but I’m so excited for it ,now I just have to wait for it to arrive 💕hoping my hair looks even slightly as good as yours and I will be extremely happy. Love love love your videos x
Definitely prefer the Hot Tools side on you! Looks loads better! I have the Revlon one and really like it. I'd never spend all that money on the Dyson kit. My hair has never held a curl anyway lol. 💖🏴
I like the volume but the perfer the Hot Tools side. I've been using the Revlon dryer brush for a couple years but just bought their updated one. So far better. I have thick, curly hair, actually similar to yours. I'll let you know what it dies if your interested.
The Revlon brush was way too hot for my very thin and fine hair. I absolutely love my Conair InfinitiPRO the knot Dr. The brush actually detaches so I can get my roots dry prior to doing the blowout via the brush. It’s very lightweight. It also has another root lift attachment but my hair is too fine and thin to use it.
I’ve been debating on a Dyson but would probably not use two of the attachments. I’d love to see more videos of tutorials and comparisons. I like the volume on the Dyson side better but the overall and ends and bangs on the Hot Tools.
Mine is a Babyliss one (IDK if that’s a brand you get in the US). I have fine hair, but lots of it and I HATED blow drying my hair with a brush and hair dryer. The hairdryer brush thingy has been a game changer!
I love the hottools side on you!! Slay queen! I have the hot tools but as someone with already mostly straight hair main thing I can do with it is get volume in the roots and the little flip at the end. I am a lazy girl and am air dry nearly everyday lol, I have really bad seborrheic dermatitis but am happy for you that your styles can last 5 days! That's really lucky and better for your hair too as u do not have to totally restyle. Long time lurker here, huge fan! Wish I could have met you in Houston!
This was so informative! thank you for making this! At the beginning I had a clear idea of which I thought was better and it was the Hot Tools one!! I have the revlon one and use it every time i do my hair but if i find someone who wants it, I'll gladly upgrade to the hot tools one! Also, I have no body issues so i don't know if this will help anyone, but I find putting it upside down works in the back. Like barrel down, handle up. That way i can do the sideways twist without having to turn my head at all. Might be a bit much if you have arm weakness though!
I’m going to have to put that Hot Tools dryer on my list. I have the Revlon one it can get really hot. I imagine it has to be pretty damaging. I have coarse thick wavy/curly Asian hair and I have to use it on low. My sister used it on hot and melted the dryer. It’s insane. I also like the Shark Dryer, but the bad thing is my hair is so coarse and thick it will pull the attachments right off.
Great video! I ordered the hot tools one step dryer last year per your recommendation, and even though I don’t use heat on my hair all that often, it works very well when I do. So quick and easy. I like to use the IGK good behavior blowout balm and then a little oil mist on the ends.
The Shark hair styling tool just happened to be on TV when I started watching you video. That looks interesting 🤔 and would like a review of that. I'm also sitting here pale as can be waiting on your tanner video 😉☀️

I thought that, until I bought it.
No for real, nobody can convince me it’s not wildly
overpriced

I like the bounce of the dyson side best! I have the dyson blow dryer but would never spend the money on the air wrap.
I have long natural curly hair and I LOVE my hot tools styler when I straighten. I haven’t had to use a flat iron since I got it!
You did an outstanding job comparing these two hair appliances👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
I like how you explained and showed in detail, at the very beginning, how to hold the brush properly, how to do the hand and wrist motions to use it, and the different positions to use the brush to get the look you want.
So if invested before, it literally appreciated:)
The attachments for Dyson were quite too much, sometimes cannot figure out which attachment I need to use.
I'm thankful for these produce recs because our hair type is so similar! The struggle is REAL with this thick, in-between texture!
I think the main point with the Dyson was that it’s meant to not damage your hair as much as regular hot tools do, not being a better styling tool per se, so maybe if you don’t do your hair every day or your hair isn’t damaged it won’t make a difference, but I can imagine that’s the selling point for many people 😊 (that’s why I’m considering buying it)
I have both and whenever I want to give my dyson a break I use my hot tool . I highly recommend the hot tool rather than the revlon one !!
Been waiting for a video like this! THANK YOU! Your reviews are the only ones I trust! ❤️
Not me sitting here with a short pixie haircut watching anyway because I love Taylor so much!! 💜
I just bought the purple hot tools last week I love it 💜⭐️
The hot tool side!! I’m still using my Revlon but I may switch when it’s time. 😊❤️🇨🇦
Another Hot Tools user here after your recommendation in an earlier vid. I have really long thick hair and it works great!
I’ll never get either of these. I style my hair with a blow dryer or put it in a ponytail. But I love Taylor’s videos and watch them intently ❤️
I have straight hair not too fine.
@@shannonshank8442 but my girls have so much hair and it works great for them too
Lange has great tools that don’t damage your hair and I love their products
Ok, I'm sold. Buying the Hot Tools. I have very similar hair type to you, Taylor - thick and wavy/curly. I never straighten my hair (aka once or twice a year maybe?) so perhaps it is just because this tool was missing from my life! Gotta at least try it. Give Rach and her beautiful Riley a big squeeze! Love and light to you, my friend!! 🖤🖤🖤
I love the hot tools. I have mobility problems and shoulder injury so it’s helped loads x
I LOVE the Hot Tools brush to give me a Victoria’s Secret blowout. Paired with Brad Mondo’s electrified and pin curls, I get SO much volume that lasts all day. With the right haircut, it’s my favorite way to wear my hair!
what shamppo and conditioner do you use your hair is so thick and lovely!
The Bondi Boost one is $99aud and just as good!
Love the Lange round brush dryer. My hair also is very frizzy if I blow dry with a round brush. Love the look!
Thanks! 😁👍
I've been looking for a Dyson-type tool for ages, since the Dyson would definitely break the bank. This video couldn't have come at a better time! :D
I have the Revlon brush dryer, and only use low or cool settings... my hair is fine and wavy. Most washes I air dry, but sometimes I like a blowout.
I always wondered if these things would give my hair volume. I don't need it for straightening or for it to be sleek, I have super straight and fine hair. Awesome video
Thanks for this. I would never spend the money for the Dyson. But I'm glad for the comparison of the Hot Tools and the Revlon.
Yesss so excited to hear you like the pink bed head such a ride or die product that stuff has been around for ever!!!
I love love love your review videos. It's obvious that you thoroughly test the products before coming to your conclusions.
My bed head round brush dryer finally bit the dust, i am shopping for a dryer thank u for the comparison
That TIGI After Party Super Smoothing Cream is amazing, bought it on your recommendation and it makes my hair so soft and smooth, thank you.❤
The Revlon brush was way too hot for my very thin and fine hair. I absolutely love my Conair InfinitiPRO the knot Dr. The brush actually detaches so I can get my roots dry prior to doing the blowout via the brush. It’s very lightweight. It also has another root lift attachment but my hair is too fine and thin to use it.
I have the knot dr too, and I love it.
Ohh! Is your hair curly/wavy or straighter?
Lol “it is a HAIR TOOL” i love it. I just know we’d vibe together!
How did I know the nicer, smoother side was the hot tools side. That shows you that luxury/expensive isn't always better.
I have the Revlon brush and it's definitely a game changer. I would NOT pay 500$ for a hot tool kit...that's a flight to Miami.
I also like the Shark Dryer, but the bad thing is my hair is so coarse and thick it will pull the attachments right off.
gorgeous ❤just ordered that Hot Tools, I have the Revlon and I love it but so want to see the difference between the two.
That hot tools volumizer is amazing 👏
ZENON! Oh the nostalgia 😌🙌💕
