@@Journeyman-pi5vx Let me be a helper. This drummer is amazing and his level of skill is not widely known, especially among the dumbest motherfuckers around.
I've been on a Jimmy Herring kick lately, a truly great guitarist. But everytime I see Government Mule I wonder if they aren't my favorite band in the world. They play anything, with anyone, and shine.
I was lucky enough to see The Aquarium Rescue Unit consisting of Colonel Bruce Hampton, Jimmy Herring, Jeff Sipe and Otiel Burrbridge, who still plays with Warren and did as an Allman Brother. Man, what shows they put on!
Same deal at The Georgia Theater mid 80s never heard of them...ask a dude on the street "You gotta go see Col. Bruce" I new Athens was hip...it was outstanding 👏 👌 🙌 👍
I saw him live with the Dead in Orange County some years back and I was blown away by Jimmy’s playing and guitar tone. 1st song they played was Help on the way. My jaw hit the ground.
It really is great. I wish Gregg had allowed Derek and Warren to freely explore the music more, just like the Allman Bros did in their early days with Duane. Gregg wasn't really a fan of taking the songs way out from their normal, original progression all that much, and as a result, they ended up doing a lot of Type 1 jams (jams that more or less stick to the original chord progression) in their career after Duane. I certainly understand where Gregg was coming from, but man, had Derek and Warren, along with the rest of that incredible ABB band, been able to take it wherever they wanted to go....that would have been really awesome to see. This is a peek at what that might have looked like.
Every second blue moon Warren plays a bit of jazz, Kind of bird and True Gravity are my favourite Allman Brothers tunes...please sir, can I have some more?
I grew up playing drums in a musical family and my dad would always tell me “Son when you get a guitar player, make sure he’s a gunslinger.” He told me that years ago, but every time I here Jimmy play, I understand what he was talking about.
@@mallit I was listening to a lot of Massive Attack (among many others) when I first started playing bass. A lot of those grooves were the first to land firmly under my fingers. No bass on my YT channel yet, but maybe once I get a better audio setup! Thanks again for the Billy Cobham. You can bet I'll be checking out his catalogue

This is one of the hardest bass lines to play period. Even Lee Sklar, has a hard time with it. It's a carpel tunnel inducing mofo. Btw, nobody can play Jan Hammer like Jan Hammer and nobody else can do it like Tommy Bolin. They're all their own people!
Matt Abts has to be the most underrated Rock n Roll drummer ever
Underrated is some kind of badge of honor or what???

Very humble of Jimmy to go easy on Warren here.

I find Warren to be unique in that he is not only as good as any guitar player, he has that voice!

Two guitar Gods in action
Jimmy Herring is such a monster. Warren is crushing it too. Great jam!
Let's be clear. Jimmy is the guest here. Yes, he is a great player, but calm down.
Two of Favorite guitarists.....looks like they love playing together as they have for many years with Phil Lesh
Kinda how Warren looks with everybody!
All masters of their craft! To see Warren smiling at Jimmy’s playing is just awesome!
Just amazing! I saw Billy Cobham perform this back in the day (yeah, I'm old), and these guys crush it!
I could listen to this ALL day. Rock on.
Holy ... my god. Never heard Jimmy Herring before. What an absolute beast! 6:37 ... his solo is just pure swagger. Must be a jazz player, damn.
He is a guitarist that plays blues rock , jazz blues fashion plus others
Jazz blues fusion that is
Check out the Phil Lesh Quintet ("The Q") from the early 00's!!!! that era was my introduction to many things, Jimmy Herring among them.

Massive Attack's "Safe From Harm" bassline cruising throughout. That repetition's a finger-burner after awhile but Jorgen crushes it. Cool track
