There are very few people that deserve to stand next to John Scofield with a guitar in their hands. Warren Haynes is most of them.
Warren Haynes is a national treasure.
Damn straight!
A master class of guitar playing from John Scofield
watch afew seconds of john and you realize
hes a sick man
sick with the blues.
unreal player. unreal talent
I just listened to Sco's solo 10x in a row.
Sco really sounds fine in a rock context... mixes perfect with haynes and his crew... Sweet!
Hats of to Warren Hayes for inviting Sco up on that stage. Takes a pair to take second solo after an icon like him!
When I was young, a guitar teacher told me tone doesn't come from a guitar or an amp, it comes from your fingers. After watching this video, some forty years later, I finally get it. FANTASTIC!
Amazing, Scofields musicianship is stunning. Got to be one of the most tasteful players around.
Scofield 🤩
The best and I've been coming back to this video on and off for a few years
I finally got to see John Scofield in concert at MIM in Phoenix last month. Outstanding. And its awesome he can hold his own on the stage with a premier blues/rock jam band. I'm becoming a big fan of Warren Haynes now.
Holy Moses! Mr. Scofield is killing it.
Love Scofield for doing a blues rock gig, love Gvt Mule for having him.
Adding to this, I love Less Than Face Productions for consistently putting up great bands and music!
Scofield ruined a perfectly good show. Ugh, just off pitch all over the place.
@@stratolestele7611 clean your ears, open your mind
Man, am I loving Scofield! Always love Warren, and this is one fine combo.
Absolutly excellent... From France.
his painting on a blank space of time is similar to Frank Zappas solos ! Love this guy !
have you heard this guy Pearson that played Duane's SG ? it's on u tube . good grief ! :)
Love the quote from FZ ❤
Wow, this is the way to go folks. If it is Bluesrock you have to play, this is as good as it gets. Fantastic. Love and peace to all of you and especially John Scofield! Be assured, we listen.:-)
Sir Scofield is in great shape
Scofield is absolutely amazing. Mind completely blown. Superb.
Love it. The Mule and Scofield playing moe.!
Every time Scofield plays he tells a Story!
Srry gingervytis, you must have been in a bad mood when you listened to this :) Scofield never plays the same thing twice, makes 0 mistakes, is able to shift mood effortlessly and even adds in a few be-boppy licks just to keep it spicy. Also, he pulled off a convincing flat 9 at about 8:30. And notice how he really embraces the space between the notes at the beginning. There's a lot here you apparently didn't hear... but I'll forgive you :)
+Justin Turner What do you call average girl with no chest? Lydia, cuz shes majorly a flat five!
+Justin Turner - congratulations, you figured out a flat 9...
quiz question : what was the flurry of notes BEFORE the flat 9?
answer: FAST

+Jay Bee Mixolydian, Mixo b9 and Minor pent.
Double check, I haven´t checked myself. Just my first impression. By mixo b9 I mean half dim btw.
Knew him only as a jazz-guitarist. But he semms to be also one of greatest rock-guitarist ever! unbeleavable!
Jeez once Scofield got going his playing was bloody awesome!
wow! John Scofield with his killing stile made this song immortal!!!!Oh yeah!!!!! I love it!!!!
Sco is my fave living guitariist atm. Amazing tone, feel, taste, and unafraid of experimentation and dissonance.
he’s def up there for sure.
I think trey is my #1 tho
@@phishscuits For some reason I never really got the "Trey" thing, and I have tried. PLease point me to some interesting guitar work from him where he is not: playing Pentatonic, trying to sound like Garcia, or using excessive wah, in all honesty I'd like to like him.
@@marKism69 i think for me it has to do a lot with just the peak of his solos and his exploration with phish. i will try to think of my fav work of his on youtube
@@marKism69 just go see phish man. trust me. i wish i would have listened to ppl telling me to go fifteen years earlier.
@@phishscuits No doubt. Phish is a great band as a whole and an OUTSTANDING live band. Probably comparing Sco to Trey is a bit of apples/oranges too as Trey does not play in the Jazz world.
Good to hear and see real music being performed - and people appreciating it in these very strange times we are living through!
Michael Gorman getting stranger by the day
If you guys only knew three years ago what we were up for.
freetimeprojex My thoughts exactly reading this thread... LOL.. it never ends
John is just amazingly expressive. I love listening to his improvisation.
Thank you. A real treat. Scofield is a talented genius! Understatement with chops to spare
One of best solos I ve heard in a long while
Man ,,,, schofield was good
Very tasteful
sco fits in just by being sco...sco and warren together=heaven
Sco is still one of Top Improvising Masters...Warren is great too.
Get it, John!
Always has had an open mind and great feel.
Summer ‘96 started listening to Mule and saw Sco a bunch of times playing around Boston area (Central Sq. World Fair).
Two masters at work...down and dirty.... a delight to experience! Thank you
Stunning, live music! Wow
This is really cool playing. Mule and John Scofield together. Works like hell.
Great Video- I really enjoyed watching!
Best wishes and keep up the great work, Max
Best wishes to all from Less Than Face Productions.
came back after a year.
more mindblowing than the last time I saw it
I've seen them several times and it was amazing
Absolutely top shelf!
Those who are picking apart this performance are missing may great aspects. Sco ROCKS the intro solo. The amp fails and he's completely out of the mix while Haynes kicks out the first couple verses. And then seamlessly Sco drops right in for the solo section.
Daaamn, sorry for my ignorance, but the only other time that ive seen Warren haynes, was in a DMB concert playing Cortez de Killer, and even tho ive never heard his work, the only two times ive seen him in random shows, he blew my mind. Time to dive into warren haynes material.... waste no time
leandro dutra one of the best ever
Government mule
Banks of the deep end. Your gonna want to check that buddy
Thorazine Shuffle is a great place to start!
Mr. Scofield and Govt. Mule go together like peanut butter & Jelly on King's Hawaiian bread...
Cool, one of my favorite moe tunes and I have recently been listening to the Sco-Mule album so I looked up some vids...had no idea govt mule even covered moe tunes
love that bass drum and snare sound beautiful
Absolutely magnificent
Bravo! John Scofeild é foda na improvisação!!
As pessoas gostaram quando John Scofield aumentou o volume do amplificador. Eu também. Muito bom
What a pleasure to listen to real music and its only found if you look for it. Nothing commercial about this
+William W.F.O.C Hard work pay dividends in appreciated words.
Great Sco!!
Been loving the mules since the beginning. Thank you gentlemen for bringing back the Greats to share your stage. Some of us are getting reacquaintedand lots of young folks
Kicks ASS !!!
Étant . . . Great . . .
I love the faces sco does whike he's playin!
+Armando Pace he creates a resonance cavity with his mouth, that's his technique :)
+alecapin i think u're right! His secret technique.
Scofield goes hardcore blues guitar playing
❤WARREN HAYNES❤ IS THE MANNNNNN GOOSEBUMPS EVERY STRING STRUMMMMMED
Johnny yeah man!! Legend

wow , knows where every note is and every trick in the book !!!
Thanks !
A goddam masterclass.
scofield has nothing to hide. he just came out in public and murdered it in daylight and everyone saw it. Then, he's like WTF?....I'm just playing a blues gig...and thanks for the video youtube :-)...I'll have my road tech bookmark this one on my PC just in case I get bored...
Real smoke, nobody touches this...
2:07 Sco's tribute to Eddie Van Halen
😆
Yes.
scofield top man justine your right he changes the mood all the time hes not one dimensional
Warren NEVER ever let me DOWN. He wouldn't have had a tour if it wasn't up to Par. FukN Bad Ass like InstantChinaHeaven washin away All Into the FoG tied to the tracks. spoonful of LuV, no Looking back! Flowers N Fog set me Freeree
Thats a fkn burner right there, Damn .
Great!
ARF SCO ....GLAD 4 TWO LEGENDARY CONCERTS SEEN *
Nice plate Sco Mule.
all the talk about the guitarists....i'm hearin' the bass..holdin it down..yet in flight.
oh yes I am hearing him with the low end locked but maybe because it is harder to hear a bass guitarist through computer and cell speakers where most listen but I like listening through a good set of headphones.
+Jay Tee Bee I've got my computer hooked up through my receiver and Bose speakers. Bose makes a great pair for laptops also, I have a set of those too. I use my computers for 99% of my music......need great speakers.
OuuuWooo🔥
Like Mike Stern and Scott Henderson, Sco likes rock and blues as much as he likes jazz. It doesn't surprise me he fits in well in this context.
John is of course a bluesman too!
Scofield is a god
John Scofields playing has genre's but the man imitates no one. Some runs in there I've never heard before, probably won't hear again either.
+Dan G He's a true legend. He's proven he can do anything. Damn, would love to hear what Miles had to say about him.
Did they ever meet?
He played in Miles Band from 1982 till 85 he played in Miles Band and played on his records Star People and Decoy
John just loves to play. He's a virtuoso player, but he's no snob. A regular Joe.
Word. He _underplays_ most of the time, which is super-rare. I put one of his solos from _Blue_Matter_ on repeat just because he left me hanging so bad with a solo that started to smolder and then ended. That's hard to do; he has great restraint and musical vision.
Epic epic epic........
At my age I have to wonder at some of the comments immediately rating players as best, better, worse, mediocre etc as if it is some sort of fucking contest. Further, it makes me wonder if people who think like that have any genuine connection to music. Maybe instead get down into the vibe and forget all the bullshit if you intend to ever play what could remotely be describe as music or musical. If you don't understand don't bother.
SCO GOTT BE LEAST 20 YRS CLEAN OFF SMACK,. KEEPING SPIRITUAL BRINGING HIS MUSIC TO THOSE WHO LOVE HIM
Got no coal, got no steel, Opium, won't jou smile on my brain Flowers and fog you've got me eling no pain
Stunning! Many thanks for sharing. Is this show available on DVD/CD?
Check out/buy/find/steal/ whatever you have to do to listen to 'Uberjam' and 'A Go Go' by John Scofield. Thank me later.
Scomule is a beast
Sean Bell no lie
WOW! Sco utterly rockin' a blues with the Mule. Any idea what the story with Schofield's amp change was? What amps were those? I love the sound of that Dumble-esue thang he was plugged into at first. Anywhoo, Beautiful!
Noel Holden pretty sure that's a Category 5 Camille head. He's been using Sundowns for 30 years, but Sco could plug into a JC-120 and you'd know it was the drunken master of jazz guitar.
👍
What model of amp is the red one?
Sco gives 0 F’s. That’s y he’s great.
Sco War ! Woooow
Sco-Mule rules
john is doing a real slowhand, like players who throw following scales away. and have care for notes. marty friedman is excellent fast a bit but very delibirate soloing and bending notes. and following chrord progrresion to solo over. george lynch too.
I closed my eyes and heard frank zappa.
Brad Garrison...it matters and I'll try to state why......do you play yourself or not ? that would be my first question.Cos us folks that love got guitar in all it's many facets...flamenco, country and western, cajun, even johny marr ! elvis costello, django rheinhardt, danny gatton eddie van halen hendrix stevie ray vaughn, joe pass, segovia, julian bream...... we like to talk about it and discuss the nuances of this fine art.....and yes a lot of us care whether john schofield can sound good with govt mule many jazz players wouldn't.....this piece sounds great and so does hendrix's first show at the filmore 1969 eg 'stop' with buddy miles screaming on vocals..check it out ...that gave me the shivers and so does this....that swhat it's all about...keeping our humanity peace.I'm outa here..take care.
A guitarra do tio bugou na hora H?
