- Hey everyone, welcome back to Daily Downshift. We thought it would be useful to list 5 reasons why the new BMW M2 is better than the previous generation M2, the F87. There's many different things that we could have talked about, but we highlighted the ones that made the biggest impact on the overall driving experience. Enjoy the video!

of course the technology will be better on the G87 but most M drivers don't care about that. F87 CS probably one of the best M cars of this generation.

Love the content. Still currently loving my 2018 m2 lci. BMW is notorious for having weak plastic piping in majority of all of there cars esp the charge pipe. Luckily it’s an easy cheap fix and you’re done. I’d have to say the og m2 with full bolts ons and adding the steering tuning and cf strut from the m2c and adding m performance suspension really makes this the perfect balanced track car with sound to match. People forget these aren’t drag cars they are corner and mountain carvers. I mean sure you make any car a qtr mile hero but that’s not how these m2 series should be driven.
The whole F87 vs G87 thing is so sad from both sides. Isn’t it great/fun that we’re all people that appreciate M2s?
(Comment is more general than this video. Watching now and I’m sure it’s valuable for people who are thinking of which one to get. But man just in general it feels so combative and toxic)
Blind Spot Assist is not part of the Premium Package, and it is not necessary in a car with such good all-around visibility (kudos to BMW for not messing with that).

I think TAC one step master will slightly darken this red and add another dimension. Really easy to apply makes my F87 long beach blue look thst little bit different!

@@DailyDownshift sorry no before and after but hopefully you can see even for LBB it's a hair darker. Only lasts 6-9months anyway
600 mile seat time and this thing(G87) is fast. Way faster than my e92 m3

idk how i feel about the new m2 anymore someone ik just got one 3 weeks ago and at 400 miles the engine blew and cylinder 4 wasnt holding compression anymore and now he has to wait 6 months for the engine to get rebuilt by bmw and all they had to say was damn he paid 3k over sticker

ordered one in black, cant wait this is definitely an evolution. the M2C wasn't worth the upgrade from the OG for me but this is. What i will say is lets all stop stop shitting on previous generations or this one, they all are and will always be special cars for different reasons
congrats! I have a black saph coming in soon as well... When cars are disappointing tho, I think its good to call them out on it so manufactures can fix it like what bmw did with the g80 compared to the dreadful f80, of which i owned 2.
The only way you're gonna have luck tracking the G87 is shedding A LOT of it's weight. The whole F87 vs G87 argument is getting old fast. Both have pros and cons and luckily anyone wanting an F87 can easily find a 2021 used. Anyone wanting to only chase that clout of driving a G87 can find one at a dealership as well easily. Have you watched your canadian buddie's Savagegeese review on RUclips of the F87 vs Supra vs G87 M2? Their newest episode. Watch it.

There is also an issue with the cops in Canada. @Daily Downshift did you ever have problems running a catless downpipre?
How about the road noise in the new G87? Right now I have f22 m240 manual (I cancelled my M2 order for this car), its a fun car but man seats are not comfortable and road noise is a lot!
Road noise is something that hasn't crossed my mind. As a result, I'd say it does a good job of keeping outside noise out.
@@DailyDownshift I see, I love hearing the engine and all but man tire/road noise annoys the shit out of me on highways.
Can you check if it has a lightweight lithium battery like the F80 M3?

Crankhub is actually no a thing, just US companies who make them advertise them. All stock and tuned S55s constantly WOT around redline on Nurburgring day and day and they all seems fine without CH upgraded.
Nah, I know people personally who have blown their crankhubs. Not just a myth at all.
I can help with the HKs.. they are good, but NOT GREAT. I upgrade every single HK car I have ever owned, and think everyone should.

@DailyDownshift Sorry.. the Harmon Kardon speakers. I will be changing those out about 10 seconds after delivery of my G87. The subs especially need to be changed.. I am a huge fan of Bimmertech and their Alpha One speakers. My F87 M2C now has their full setup, and it's amazing. I have installed their speakers in tons of BMWs now and it's worth it.

@@DailyDownshift Great question.. considering the magnets are bigger in the same footprint, I would say likely slightly heavier. That said I cant imagine for the entire car its more than 2lbs, maybe less more. They absolutely kill the HKs, especially the subs. I have a ton of DIYs up on how to install them, and will have one for my G87 as soon as I can get it. Give me a shout sometime on FB/Insta/email or otherwise, happy to talk to you about the upgrade.
as a current f87 owner…id buy a manual supra or 240 over the g87…Just doesnt do it for me

My BSM G87 with the carbon pack was supposed to get delivered in July, just got delayed to September :(
Selling my M2C this week, gonna be a sad summer haha but can't wait.

@@DailyDownshift dealer would've only given me like 45k. Just sold it privately for 57k w/ some mods. The G87 starts production in 2 weeks though!
Still G87 r not made in germany.....

@@DailyDownshift Toyota been building in Mexico for many years. Not saying anything about Mexico, but we can no longer say built in Germany anymore

@@jimbaranresidence8 Mexicans know how to assemble. Toyota has had excellent success building the Tacomas in Mexico for 15+ years. I'm actually surprised BMW took this long to assemble in Mexico.
HOW ABOUT RIDE QUALITY COMPARED TO F87.
Its much smoother and you have the ability to go from comfort to sport. No such option on f87
Currently saving up for a G82, I just think the M2 price is way to close to a base M3 or M4, Don’t know if BMW is coming out with a competition M2 but I can’t justify $62,000 for a M2 where if you spend just $12,000 more you can get a base M3 and $15,000 more for M4 base, I rather save the extra money to get the m3 or m4 but if M2 starting price start low $50,000 then I think it will be worth it
that doesn't make sense, a f87 M2 is 53k starting, how would u say a 2023 should start low 50s when it's significantly faster and interior is night and day? lol id say maybe 57 would sound more reasonable high 50s
But the important question is, what are you getting for that extra $15k? Same weight, trans, engine.. except it's in a smaller and more fun package in the M2.
62k ? I don't know how the change will be but in my country starts at 90k, and the m3 and m4 117k euros
@@DailyDownshift I’ve been saving sense I sold my 2022 BMW 430i last year, This was my first BMW I fell in love with the 430i but wanted more power that’s when I started looking at the M4, I paid $62k for a fully loaded 430i with laser headlights but that car was slow if I would of just saved a little bit more I could of bought a base M4, This is just my opinion but I would not pay $62,000 for a 2023 M2 Nor a 430i the price is just way to close to the base M3 or M4, I can’t imagine how much the M2 Competition is going to cost, Base M2 for $55k, The Competition model price at $62k I think the M2 at that price point with both model will be perfect
@@KareemKayy anywhere from $50k to $55k is in the low fifty thousands mark, if the M2 was price at that price point then it will be more appealing
Owned 2 f80 M3s including a CS and my g80 xdrive was pretty much better than those cars in every single way. Not surprised the G87 would be better than the F87.
