Hi Joseph, thanks for the very useful and much required video. Much appreciated. I have a question with regards to matterport and insta360 one x2. Suppose we use the method 1 (using matterport purely) at a client's location where we can't spend much time, even its hard to shoot again and moreover our own time matters as well to start all-over again. Unfortunately after the shoot, we get grains in most of the photos (which is very normal with this camera). So here can't we choose the jpeg pictures of this project that are already in our memory card after the scan is finished, edit them for lesser grains and better picture quality to upload a new space in matterport?
I've considred that too. But unlike the 360 photos (equirectangular) from ONE X2, the photos from Capture app is HDR+fisheye 360. Idk how that impacts processing. Also, ive got more reliable scales from method 1 as I think Matterport knows the lens distortion amount to accurately scale the image. Where as after the fact method has correct relative dimensions, but not necessarily correct scale (3-4" more off) this only matters if you are trying to measure from your scan.
@@JosephKim Sorry I didn't get you, what processing you refering to here that you said idk? Isn't it the same you did in method 2 for video or different? Overall do you mean method 2 is not useful for matterport over method 1?
@@JosephKim oh! Understood. I try to switch to my Android tablet. Another question: my tripod has a very small foot and in the 360 photo it is almost invisible, instead matterport keeps giving me a huge circle of blur at the Nadir. Can it be avoided?
Hi, I have a question I really hope you can help me with. I purchased the Insta360 one x2 to use for real estate photography and all the interior photos come out bowed. Is there a way to fix that or a setting to keep it from happening that you can share with me? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. Victoria
I suppose you are using one lense to a 'photo'? I think you want to use 'linear' mode to correct the bow. You can always use the application to correct the 'angle'
I find it to be generally correct. But you will find it to be rather in accurate as it doesn't create flat surfaces. So, it is only a backup method for 'measurements'. Also, it is not function of the camera, rather Matterport.
@@JosephKim Thanks for the answer. What would you suggest in that case if I for example scan a real estate and want to measure rooms (length of the walls, height of the walls, surface area) i would transfer 3d object(from App) into a CAD program and use measurment tools, i am searching for a camera that has a lidar system detection and is accurate for this kind of things. So if there is a centimeter or few milimiters of difference from reality and a scan , that is not a problem. This is accurate enough for my kind of work and research.
There are a few services and hardware store near hat does such thing. iPad's LiDar sensor is being used for similar thing. I think Polycam is doing that.
I have 130 photos of a location loaded on the app and I do not see it doing anything not sure if it is still asking me to scan with the tablet or I need to wait or I am missing a step, the upload button is ghosted..
Hey Joseph, urgent question! Any chance you can explain how you imported your 360 scans onto matter port. I tried but the 360 scans download as jpegs and not zip files and matterport asks for zip files. The quality is drastically better going through the 360 app and not the matterport app and I’d love to use it for my 3d tours, thanks!
Hey there! If I may add on to this question, would clicking 3D scan after importing 360 still allow for making decent floorplans that accurate? I know solely 360 won't work
Hello! When I try to upload 360 images from another cam (eos 750d, made with ptgui), the images are only put in the 360 gallery. The app doesn't make a floor plan out of them. Did you get this to work?
This is only a beta feature on Android. And when you import, make sure you select '3D scan'. As to whether images from ptgui works or not, I am not sure.
It worked! I used my own ptgui panos and selected the '3d scan' llike you said and it all worked. I simply completely misunderstood the meaning of that option: after all I wanted to upload my own panos, not make a 3d scan. But what is meant is apparently: to make a 3d scan out of the uploaded panos... Hmmmm Well thnx anyway, I can now go ahead and use a dslr to make a tour.
How do you deal with sunlight? Like what if an apartment has a balcony, the camera catches the outside but leaves the room dark. I tried putting the insta360 right in the middle of the room and balcony door but still leaves the room dark and outside bright.

@@asdwr I'm saying that you can do method 1+2, but not sure if you can port method 1 into 2.
@@JosephKim alright. I have somewhat understood. I ll try some workouts. Thanks for your time and prompt take up!
Do you have to own a insta camara in order to use your phone for scanning?
No,
which app is used for the android phone scan?
Called 'capture' from Matterport.
@@JosephKim wo that's great! Have been searching for something like this. Thanks a lot for the video(s) and the answer. :)
@@ePreneurs no problem!
I have matterport app on my IPAD but I can't find any way to import 360 images. Was this function removed ?????
So far, it only works on Android.
@@JosephKim oh! Understood. I try to switch to my Android tablet. Another question: my tripod has a very small foot and in the 360 photo it is almost invisible, instead matterport keeps giving me a huge circle of blur at the Nadir. Can it be avoided?
@@Ginosergio. unfortunately no, it is because it is meant for their very big tripod for Pro series cameras.
You’d make a great Ventriloquism , just saying
Okay?
Hi, I have a question I really hope you can help me with. I purchased the Insta360 one x2 to use for real estate photography and all the interior photos come out bowed. Is there a way to fix that or a setting to keep it from happening that you can share with me? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. Victoria
I suppose you are using one lense to a 'photo'? I think you want to use 'linear' mode to correct the bow. You can always use the application to correct the 'angle'
Did you manage to make a high-quality virtual tour using x2?
How precise is this camera, if we measure for example the length and height of the walls compared to the real length. Have you compared that maybe?
I think Polycam is doing that.
how did you upload your photos and become a scan stich?
That's what I explain in the video :)
@@JosephKim thank you. another question. I notice your 360 photo end result does not have grey circle on top and bottom. Am i doing something wrong?
I think you are referring to the Nadir. That's something that your camera will put on.
Can you export the scene as 3d object
Yes, with additional fee.
What's the accuracy like when taking measurements?
I wouldn't put it in my drawings, but good enough to get general ideas.
Ok thanks. What if you used a mettaport pro2 camera?
I have 130 photos of a location loaded on the app and I do not see it doing anything not sure if it is still asking me to scan with the tablet or I need to wait or I am missing a step, the upload button is ghosted..
That's weird. Are you doing this on Android?
@@JosephKim Hi, nop Ipad, but I was using 360 instead of scan it works now, only I have to do it one by one or it gets totally wrong.
Are you doing this on Android? Mine asks for JPG, not zip. Tap on where it says 'android camera', then 'import 360 images', then '3D scan'
@@JosephKim thanks for the reply, I am using a iPhone so that may be where it differs.
@@josephkearney8343 yes. You must use Android for that function.
@@JosephKim hmm ok thxn I dont know if I selected that, will check it out thnx!
@@josvanr nice! I'm glad
How do you deal with sunlight? Like what if an apartment has a balcony, the camera catches the outside but leaves the room dark. I tried putting the insta360 right in the middle of the room and balcony door but still leaves the room dark and outside bright.
You can manually expose the shot.
@@JosephKim How do I do that?
@@kazekage55100 are you using matterport to capture? If so, you can't.

Hi, I am not sure if this is just lost in translation, but it says that you are trying to 'print'. For any troubleshooting, please talk to Matterport customer support.
Hi I have a wholesale showroom of women accessories. I want to have my customers take a virtual tour of my showroom where they can get close to the product hung on the wall. They can also click on it and a popup window will show its details
You can somewhat achieve that by 'virtual staging' and with 'matter tags'. You may have to research a little.
matterport is to controlled, I like MetaReal. I take my own panos and edit them and created my tour! DONE!
That's fair!
Only for indoor.
In a sunny outdoor scene ,the oneX2 quality of matterport is like shit.
