- My AMG GT R Pro finally on the Nürburgring Nordschleife! After having the beast delivered to Germany, and now completing the running in process, some laps of the Green Hell are an absolute must to see what it's made of. Safe to say, any doubts or questions about the Pro have now been answered - what an epic machine!
Having recently made my maiden laps of the Green Hell in the SLS AMG Black Series only a few weeks before, it's time now to bring the next of the Shmeemobiles for a first outing around the famous tarmac. After the GT R Pro was delivered to Germany a few days before, I've now put on some miles and completed the running in process which means it can start to be unleashed and driven in anger - something long overdue.
The AMG GT R Pro is an even-more focused version of the GT R, and especially honed in for driving on this specific road - the Nurburgring being a public toll-road during Touristenfahrten (Tourist Drives). The suspension is improved, aero increased, and features a roll cage as standard, so it was inevitable I would bring it here at some point in time.
Originally the car had been collected in December with the intention of saving the main usage until the spring and trackdays around Europe including the Nurburgring, Nordschleife, Zandvoort, Portimao and Ascari, although the global crisis had other ideas so it has sat rather unloved up until this point in time. It's time now to change that with some outings at the Nurburgring and more to follow.
There's no question, this car suits the Nurburgring very well, it offers incredible levels of grip and confidence, riding the bumpy surface with remarkable smoothness and effortless performance. Perhaps most impressively is how welcoming the car is to being driven in anger, and significantly faster (albeit less dramatically) than the SLS Black Series.

Long overdue, but well worth the wait! Any questions I had over the AMG GT R Pro have now been answered in its natural habitat with some proper laps at the Green Hell.

As Tim said,this car had more downforce and grip (of course the tires are different) than the SLS BS,but the SLS is really more appreciated i think cuz some good reason that y'all know

Yea I feel like that too, he’s taking more care of this one as it’s more valuable and limited.
Yup I think he should sell it before it cranks up more miles and the market drops... and then enjoy the GTR Roadster and SLS
After the gtrs upgrades it is probably better then the gtr pro. Certainly not enough of an upgrade for the pro at best
This Pro and the inbound Roadster are, clearly, just "checkmarks" to be able to buy a GT Black Series.
shaveee I’m sure there is more to it as he always loved that platform, but it’ll definitely help for the BS at some point yeah !!

The in cabin noise sounds cool but seeing/hearing those outside clips were heartbreaking.
Probably sounds relatively good to us because we can't tell the difference listening on speakers whether that noise is speaker generated or actual exhaust in person, unless it's done really badly. Also the mic he's speaking into must be somewhere near, (if it isn't), the camera he has pointed at him in the cabin, and I think the speakers (going off where I think Shmee was indicating) are those in the top of the dash so are blasting the noise into the mic for us to hear but would probably be as muted as the exterior noise in the driver's/passenger's seat.

Just yesterday rented an apex car for some touristenfahrten laps and the GT R was parked there for cleaning, such a machine. Good to see you enjoying it as intedend !
I have also done TF on my bike, but when it was busy so that wasn't a nice experience, but I can imagine when it's calm it's OK.
