BMW M8 UNLEASHED! My First Sketchy Nurburgring Laps

- It's time to unleash the BMW M8 Competition! Where better to head with the new Shmeemobile than an Autobahn blast on the way to the Nürburgring, experiencing the power now it's run-in. However, horrible weather definitely made for some interesting Ring laps, especially when joined by Robert in his new 620R!
A few weeks ago I returned with the M8 Competition to M Town near Munich for the inspection service at the end of the running-in process, and it also received a host of M Performance Parts being installed. However, in the rush on the day I failed to show one of those; the new extended carbon fibre engine bay components! Since then, the M8 has been with Shmarc150 (manager of Shmee150) who has been enjoying it for a tour, but now it's time for me to get back behind the wheel and unleash it on the Autobahn and Nurburgring.
With 625hp from the 4.4l TwinPower Turbo V8, the M8 Competition has plenty of go, and that becomes very clear on the de-restricted sections of the motorway, although the traffic certainly has other ideas... Upon arrival at the Nurburgring, things also quickly take a turn for the worse as the sky opens up and the rain starts coming down; not what I was hoping for. However, this became a fascinating opportunity to get a feel for driving the Green Hell in the wet, particularly with the 4WD and 4WD Sport modes to experiment with.
After a cautious first lap, the next is out following Robert Mitchell in his new McLaren 620R - running on Pirelli Trofeo R, tyres absolutely not suited to the weather conditions! However, it's a great insight into the right line to take, and helps as well for a 3rd outing shortly thereafter.
There is no doubt the M8 is a fabulous and exceptionally versatile car, demonstrated clearly with its comfort on the motorway at speed but also the ability to dial up the dynamic ability on the track too. It may not have made for the fastest laps in the rain, but I certainly enjoyed the drive!

that mini is known as the "Ring-Mini", the guy normally drives a motorcycle on track and only takes the Mini out when it's raining
That look on the corner on track when it takes off the pov , makes each penny worth loved the video

M8 never apologize for your driving, in the wet with your own car on a toll road. Practice is everything on track and you are getting very good in recently. Keep up the amazing work!!

Shmee150 Slow is better than a totaled car :D If you get the chance to go on more wet laps and learn more wet lines I believe you can even push harder in time :)

I grew up in Upstate New York which means our closest neighbors were about 7 miles down the road with really heavy winters. This totally reminded me of driving through the hills during Fall time. Another awesome video and really cool to see some laps in different weather, and amazing driving Shmee !
This m8 is a weapon. A BMW m8 just did 0 to 60 in 2.6 sec I believe which is near Porsche 911 turbo s 992 territory that's insane

I had no idea there would be different lines in the wet. Interesting to do a lap with the lines we would all expect to take, and then follow Robert and see the different lines the locals take in the wet. Great learning experience.

It’s not a crack. There are two seams in the leather steering wheel.
No at 17:34 theres a similar hole probably just a screw hole as they are symmetrical

Don't forget I've also done the track in the Ford GT, SLS Black Series and AMG GT R Pro in the last month, I think those lal had priority over the M8 for the purpose

Tim’s Germany content is simply amazing. As good as his American tour last year. Rarely I’m disappointed with any of his videos. The videos that I was disappointed is mostly my biases towards a specific brand or model. Tim has been the most consistent car youtuber for years. Keep the content coming. More Robert & Misha would be great.
