The MT-09 is for the rider who wants a sport bike without the back pain (this is from my personal experience)
It has a budget suspension worse then a 250 though so not really a sport bike more like a muscle bike.
Definitely a sport bike, as opposed to a super sport, which it’s not

I completely agree. I had an R1 and couldn’t ride it more than about an hour without hurting the whole next day. I got a MT09 and I love it. Plenty of power to play with and no back pain.
The new MT09 SP has upgraded suspension 👌
MT09 is for the people who want a capable bike but rather not be doing 12000 rpm while their lumbar spine is vibrated to point of non-existence.

I think you did a great job summing up what the MT09 is all about. I ride one for the exact reasons you mentioned. I love the power and the sound with the fun-loving attitude, but I don't care about slightly wonky cornering or the identity crisis. I actually like the identity crisis. It feels unique relative to any other bike I've ridden. The MT09 is always trying to get you to have fun with it; it's saying "just hit the redline once the light turns green.", "go ahead, do figure eights in the middle of the parking lot, why not?", "pop a quick power wheelie, you know you want to."
its the godzilla of moto (Nissan GT-R is the 4-wheeled GDZ) - angry muscle bike that's a little too fat and sloppy, but a high enough IQ to be aware of it's shortcomings, so it still packs a good ole whooping of asses.

@@p.chakraborty4453 its not for everyday use anyway, just for fun..I rode the mt09 and it was awesome but now I saw the ducati, maybe I should give that one a try..btw, it will be my first bike..

I love my MT09 the upright position feels comfortable riding all day with an INSANE amount of torque! IMO this bike is for the rider that loves the insane power (and sound) of a sport bike but doesn’t need the high speed/ handling and that likes the riding position and comfort of a roadster

I recorded a review for my KTM 625 yesterday and I had just about the same conclusion as you did for your 690

A: I love what you're doing with your videos and your channel.
B: I finally got my full moto license, though due to country/financial limitations I have purchased an R15 which I love. and tbh I'm still in the top 15% fastest bike in my city (note I'm an expat living here)
As an owner of a 2018 mt09 & a 2019 crf450l this is a very true statement.
Yam, do you think V twin sportbikes like the Panigale V2, Vtr1000f, and TL1000 should be more popular as opposed to mostly track-oriented i-4’s, considering most riders only ride on the street?

I had a Honda XR650R supermoto. Kickstart only. Used it as a commuter and for sport-touring as well as a twisty road destroyer. Put on a Renazco seat on your Supermoto and ride it all day long.
There are suspension modifications for heavy riders you can do to the stock suspension that are pretty easy.

That isn’t a full blown supermoto- maybe look at a husky FS450 or ktm 450 SMR... or the TM equivalent. Calling a 690smr a supermoto is like calling a ‘busa a superbike.

You didn’t mention the SWM sumos. They’re built off the Italian Husqvarnas and dirt cheap, maybe it would be a good intermediate giveaway bike.

Fix for 690 complaints? Seat concepts wide butt version and then also a luggage rack available from Tusk as well as others....i might add a windshield etc...aftermarket can improve things a lot!
Get a "Seat concepts" seat for the ktm and the drz400. I have one on my drz and it reeeeally makes a difference in comfort

What kind of riding do you want to do?
@@millennialmalaise9386 I do a little of everything. Instead of going for the 690 I got a DrZ. It made me realize I would rather keep the roads to touring n light twisties and the dirt for the dirt bikes.
I may get a 450 sumo for track one day and would like a tracer 900 or rebel 1100 as a next road bike. I don't consider myself appreciative of hooliganism enough to get a 690 after test riding one middle last year

Because they are highways, not freeways, and have many crossroads. It is MUCH more expensive and land consuming to build over/underpasses than a simple signal light controlled intersection.

A real supermoto it’s more of a sport bike supermoto hybrid, I got a 2013 TM 450 SMX & Husqvarna FS 450 way lighter & the 450 engine makes stupid power

Why is it's instrument console so small ? , Which will make it harder to read in Traffic and my senses are saying to me because it's KTM and a Super moto alot of the information is going to be crammed into that small little tiny screen .!!!

I don't get it. Sumos are the favorite bikes of Gen Z at least here in Germany. The most popular bike channels are owners of Sumos. All A1 squids own 125cc sumos. I wish that Aprilia brought back the Sxv550. I heard rumors about a 390 Duke Supermoto. If it doesn't break the bank I'll cop it

Any of you notice the only ones I ever see complaining about motorcyclist not stopping at stop signs is non riders? it's a pain in the ass to come to a complete stop put your foot down for a second then go.

Mto9 and mto7 are naked Street bikes or hooligan bike if you really want to go that way and a bike that you can mostly compared to or give it that reason is the triumph triple a supermoto is going to be any bike that resembles a dirt bike with Street Wheels depending on the size of the motor and Ducati hypermotard is not a supermoto thousand CC twin cylinder try and take it off road

I wish Yamaha had made the mt-09 cross plane “or made to emulate it at least” like the tiger 900. Sounds so much better, and the sound profile would match up with the my-07 and mt-10 better

@@theschleifer it’s called a cp3 but it’s not cross plane is you look it up. It’s a 120 degree crank, uneven but not cross plane. Listen the tiger 900, it’s a 270 degree triple. Even sounds like an mt-07 and mt-10

@@theschleifer it’s just a naming scheme. I genuinely wish they had made the new 2021 a CP. look up the tiger 900 exhaust not then close your eyes and imagine an mt-09, and tell me it doesn’t just.... fit. Has this crazy sound that’s somewhere between and v twin and a conventional triple
@@theschleifer not sure what the mt-09 crank is called othe than just a 120 degree. Which is a convention I3 crank. Just like how the 180 is for most I4’s
Cross plane on a triple actually makes it a T shape. So there’s a small gap in the firing order giving it the cross plane Lope sound, and somehow actually makes better torque
The bike is cheap with great power and it ends there. It isnt really a roadster per say, ktm and triumph make roadsters, the suspesion is to clunky Its really more like a motorcycle version of a dodge challenger great in its own right as a muscle car but it's not a sportcar.
Very bad advice spite. Never lean against your bike on any bike unless you are on dirt, gravel. Your advice is unsafe.
