Thanks for this video I watched it for a week every night after working the day on the motor and it boosted my confidence to try, because I'm no mechanic but this was easy to see and follow. I only got off the tc cover because I saw you bang on it,, and I copied your hammer attack swing and tap points and it slid just like this... only took me three days lol fyi another way is just zap strap the chain to the sprockets before popping them off so you can still have the chain attached to the sprockets yes the angle leaves much to be desired but I learned somehthing watching at least. And I learned that it's easy to be critical until you do it. I filmed nice sequenced close ups with a tripod... was feeling proud of it, going to upload to youtube,,, and I initialized the sd card to format over it. Hey.

Then tensioner needs to be pushed over to the right with a pry bar as you tighten it. This will make it last 100,000 miles. Trust me. If you don't do this the rattle will come back quickly...Remember made in china parts with life time warranty are JUNK PARTS
I should have read the description first, I for the life of me could not figure out way this motor was backwards, how does it flip , how is that possible. crazy crap!!! Great video and you work on things just like i do. nice work!
The video flipped because of software settings ( I think ) how did that happen? When I was recording this the computer that my camera was connected to stopped working so I switched over to another computer to finish the video. I was still using the same camera and software ( even the same type of computer ) but the video settings must of had the video flipped in the settings. Now I could have flipped it all back right as I connected the parts for the final video but I did not notice the problem until I had did all the editing so I just uploaded it because I figured the info was still in the video and that was what mattered.
Not sure as the price can very but it would be a lot. I would say the price would start at 500.00 and go up, but to tell the truth I have never priced this job out. Ps you might be able to find someone who just likes to work on cars and they might charge you 200.00 but that could be risky.
Use a harmonic balancer puller (crow's foot). There are two threaded holes on the pulley. The puller kit comes with bolts that fit those threads. attach the puller and use a socket to tighten it up, forcing the pulley off. I was using two pry bars to wiggle it off but it was moving too slow. Just did the timing chain on my dad's d21 with him.
That video file was corrupted. the computer was having problem recording and I did not know it at the time. In fact you will notice that the second half of the video if flipped and that is because I changed computers to film with because the first one stopped working. Then that one had issues. Yeah it was a pain to make this video. ( turns out the camera itself had issues )
The one I am working on is different it has a puncture in it an key way an the chain has two different colored links an the front cover on it so how do I put the thing back in time the marks don't ever come together
Because making one wrong move when dealing with a trimming chain can cause catastrophic damage. Having problems getting timing correct. You do not show the specific points that makeup one the chain and gears Can you give me specific advice how to make tha match. I have changed the timing chain and the truck will not run. HELP PLEASE
I looked in my manual and it would be hard to explain the whole deal in a message like this ( there is a dot mark on the gear that lines up with the silver 'off colored' chain link but there is more to do than just that ) so you might want to either call Nissan repair or a local parts store or purchase the Haynes manual from the parts store so that it can walk you through it so there is no damage to your engine. ...beside it is nice to have the old manual around for other things that could go wrong as well
Start with about 2 ft-lbs then finish it out between 5.2 and 7.2 ft-lbs of torque do not just go around the cover to do this try to stay 180 out ( crossover with each one ) valve cover do not need much, just a little past a snug will do.
I like the comments as he's working. Excellent instructions, thanks.
I just made this the top comment.

Jay is right, there are some places you can use cheap parts, but some it's just better to know what you have will last.
So where do you buy parts from Japan ?
Where can we get the parts from ? Im thinking of doing my timing chain in the near future...
Advanced Auto Parts sells the O.S.K Kit that’s made in Japan, it’s pricey though.

@green rushrelief Good to know. Yeah I just got this message... a year after you posted it.
Good video but how did you get the crank pulley off? It was there at 32:55 and the video skipped and then it was gone. What size bolt is it?

The crank pulley is a harmonic balancer.
Yep, odd he skipped over that.
