      Nobbel87 Hey Nobbel , i was thinking and watching a lot of your lore videos lately. what is there is only one Kil'Jaeden. see from what i would imagine , he is an extra-planar demon lord. For all we know KJ could of seen this coming because its a possible time frame...which is yet again another issue when you introduce time travel. honestly though the whole BC and the opening of the portal in of itself is messing with planes of existence etc. just my thoughts.

    • @Lors_101
      @Lors_101 9 лет назад

      Nobbel87 Wait a second since the portal connects to our Azeroth wouldn't the Azeroth in that universe be fucked up because there would be no orcs and certain other races in Azeroth I know this doesn't matter to our Azeroth but it's just weird to think how different the wars would end up and the Azeroth might even be run by the Horde or Alliance just because of this change.

    • @Lors_101
      @Lors_101 9 лет назад

      Nobbel87 Also how does space surround our Outland and their Outland is surrounded by water.....

    • @Stromn83
      @Stromn83 9 лет назад

      Bob Smith
      space surrounds out outlands because of the shattering of dreanor (which is what outlands really is , the planet Dreanor after it shattered) after Ner'Zhul opened a bunch of other portals trying to help the orcs escape Dreanor. The reason he opened all these other portals is because the alliance had reopened the gate and entered dreanor to attack and end the orcish threat once and for all. KJ n the other hand was not happy about Ner'zhul defying him and the portal he stepped thru was actually a trick , and KJ was there and captured ner'zhul torturing his soul by tearing his physical form to pieces over and over again. eventually finding a purpose for ner'zhul which he bound ner'zhul to the lich king. this was done to break down azeroth for another burning legion invasion. as for the different azeroth's we likely will never know the other azeroth as they said they arent going to show us anything about that azeroth. the portal to that azeroth will never be built , as the timeline was changed for that dreanor. meaning the portal they end up opening instead of the portal to their azeroth they opened a portal to ours. because garrosh was hellbent on revenge and changing the history of the orcs. which this means the alliance does very much own their azeroth , as the alliance are the actual races that are native to azeroth , on both timelines. hope this helps , i honestly have watched too many lore videos by Nobbel87. love these videos Nobbel87 keep up the great work!

    As for why Garrosh wouldn't wait for the Draenei to die, or invade a different Azeroth, the answer lies with the very Sha he unleashed: Pride.
    He will stop at nothing to conquer HIS enemies, as they're no one's but his. He had no issues with calling the armies of the world to his doorstep -- he will not stop until he proves he's the stronger.

    • @LordGreenshake
      @LordGreenshake 10 лет назад +3

      That's what happens when you're the son of one of the greatest Orc heroes ever and you're trying to live up to your family name. Also not helped by the fact that Thrall gave Garrosh a LOT of power after one successful campaign in Northrend. That hefty of a reward can go to your head, and power easily corrupts the hotheaded.

  • @Reycied

    I think the reason I love listening to Nobbel so much is because he gets excited about what he's saying. It's much more engaging and interesting when a raconteur is eight kinds of stoked to tell you a story.

      Time Travel just sets up the Iron Horde. Everything else that would come with a time travel story (changing history, altering the universe, ect) isn't there. For all intent, Draenor is an alternate Draenor from Outland.

    I think this expansion was chosen because of the Warcraft movie. In the Q&A panel
    for the movie, people asked if Warlords of Draenor will provide story for the Warcraft movie. The responce roughly said was there is no lore for Durotan back then, so the expansion will fill in that missing lore for him and other old orc leaders.

    • @zubi782
      @zubi782 10 лет назад

      I disagree. We already have Durotan lore in the Rise of the Horde novel.
      And this expansion takes place in an alternate timeline, the lore for Durotan here would not directly relate to the lore for our timeline, which is what the movie will be based on.

    I would rather live in the iron horde timeline. They don't face the scourge, arthas stays good, uther isn't killed, lorderon never falls. The orcs also would be going against our timeline, so we wouldn't have to worry about that, and the burning legion wouldn't have the tools available to weaken Azeroth for an invasion. That sounds pretty awesome compared to our timeline.

      so this parael reallity is not really warcraft... I would rather see new parael reality and it would be "END OF w3 as we knew it" but without events from wow.. and it could be w4 as continuin of w3 but with completely different events that was in wow, that would be awesome, WoW events was more like marketing moves than that epic lore that was in w3, just imagine no frikin pandaria, playing as illidan defending dark temple, because in w3 was its conquering, playing as lich king building army, playing as silvanas and with some new heroes...

    I'm so disappointed its all about Orcs AGAIN! If they were going to make a time travel expansion then why can't it be about one of the interesting races like the Eredar and Draenei on Argus?

    • @johnnyiles7455
      @johnnyiles7455 10 лет назад +7

      There were no Draenei on Argus, the Eredar left Argus and became the Draenei...and there are going to be just as much Draenei in WOD as there are Orcs (kinda)

    • @CorruptCosmos
      @CorruptCosmos 10 лет назад +3

    • @CorruptCosmos
      @CorruptCosmos 10 лет назад +3

      Johnny Iles What I mean was if we were to go back in time because the "timelines" had been fucked with then would they be known as Draenei or Eredar? Because surely there still exiles from their race for not following the burning legion?

    • @CorruptCosmos
      @CorruptCosmos 10 лет назад +3

      ***** I believe that the Draenei are one-thousand ties more interesting than Orcs. All the good lore behind the Orcs mainly comes from being manipulated by Demons. You may as well say that the burning legion are interesting not the Orcs.

    • @CorruptCosmos
      @CorruptCosmos 10 лет назад +2

      ***** wha....what? OK because I cannot be bothered to summarize it hes an entire wikki page..............
      Long ago, on the planet of Argus, the eredar race arose. They were extremely intelligent and had a natural affinity for magic in all of its forms. Using their gifts, they developed a vast and wondrous society.
      At some point, they are visited by beings of light, Naaru. They gifted the eredar with the sacred ata'mal crystals, which enhance their intellect and help them unravel the mysteries of the universe.
      At the height of their society, the eredar's three most prominent leaders, Kil'jaeden, Archimonde, and Velen, were approached by Sargeras, the Fallen Titan. Sargeras claimed he was impressed by the work of the eredar: he wanted to supply them with even more power and knowledge, in exchange for their loyalty. But while Kil'jaeden and Archimonde readily accepted the deal, Velen had a vision of the future that filled him with dread. He saw the dark future his people were heading towards: siding with the dark titan Sargeras and transforming into demons. Velen saw the Legion in all its terrible might and witnessed the destruction it would wreak upon all of creation. He hastened to warn Kil'jaeden and Archimonde, but they dismissed his concerns and proceeded to profess loyalty to the Destroyer of Worlds. Together, the latter transformed a majority of their people into an insidious race of warlocks and later allied themselves with the Burning Legion.
      Velen nearly despaired, but his prayers for help were answered. A being came to Velen and explained that it was one of the naaru, a race of sapient energy beings bent on stopping the Burning Legion. The naaru offered to take Velen and any other like-minded eredar to safety. Deeply relieved, Velen gathered the other eredar loyal to him. Naming themselves the "draenei", or "exiled ones" in the Eredun language, the renegades barely escaped from Argus in the naaru ship Oshu'gun, with the Burning Legion hot on their heels. Kil'jaeden was furious with what he felt was Velen's betrayal, and the demon vowed to hunt Velen and the rest of the draenei to the ends of the cosmos if need be.
      The draenei visited many worlds and explored much of the known cosmos in their quest to find safe harbor. Still, a hell-bent Kil'jaeden would not give up his pursuit, sending his agent Talgath to hunt them down. Meanwhile, the enigmatic naaru race blessed the draenei with Light-given knowledge and power. The naaru explained that there were other forces in the cosmos that would stand against the Burning Legion. One day the naaru would forge them into a single unstoppable army of the Light. Deeply affected by the naaru's words, the draenei vowed to honor the Light and uphold the naaru's altruistic ideals.
      At last Velen and his draenei settled upon a remote and peaceful world that seemed an ideal refuge. They named it Draenor, or "Exiles' Refuge", and there they quietly cultivated their society once again. Ever wary of being discovered again by Kil'jaeden's forces, Velen and his mystics kept their magic hidden.
      In time the draenei met and befriended the shamanic orc clans that already lived in the tranquil southern grasslands (later called Nagrand). Aside from engaging in some limited trade, the draenei and orcs regarded one another with respect but kept mostly to themselves.
      However, no amount of preparation could keep the draenei hidden forever. Eventually, Talgath-after some 25,000 years of pursuit-stumbled upon Draenor, and reported back to Kil'jaeden.
      Kil'jaeden, however, was intrigued by the neighboring orcs. Through his protégé Gul'dan, he quickly succeeded in corrupting them. Smoothly manipulated from a state of wary acceptance into blind rage and blood lust, the orcs attacked the draenei. This bloody conflict lasted nearly eight years, but the orcs' triumph was unequivocal. The orcs killed over eighty percent of the draenei race and sent the rest fleeing for safety to the remote corners of the world. Draenei who had fought the Horde and survived found that they had been affected by the fel energies wielded so freely by the orc warlocks. These draenei have since mutated into lesser forms, resulting in a series of subspecies.
      Kil'jaeden's revenge was complete, or so he thought - Velen and a handful of untransformed draenei have survived the destruction of their cities by the orcs and fled to Zangarmarsh. There they have been hiding until recently.
      Naru Crash Site
      The Exodar crash site.
      After coming to Draenor, the blood elves discovered the power of Tempest Keep and successfully seized it. To escape, the draenei came out of hiding and managed to wrestle control of a wing of the keep, The Exodar, and tried to use it to flee and find aid in retaking their home. Before they could, however, the blood elves managed to sabotage what is essentially the "engine" of the draenei's transdimensional travel. The remainder of the Keep lies in Outland in Netherstorm and is now the home of Prince Kael'thas.
      When the draenei tried to planeshift, their sabotaged engine went haywire, and The Exodar ended up hurtling out of control through the Twisting Nether until it crash-landed on a chain of islands, the Azuremyst Isles, off the western coast of Kalimdor. As the surviving draenei salvaged what they could of their ship and tried to help what was left of their people, they began exploring this new world; contact with the night elves of Darkshore was imminent.
      This information about draenei originates from Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. It predates knowledge of draenei subraces
      For centuries the draenei have been battling the Fel Orcs...they have fought the orcs and their demon masters for generations... but in the last hundred years the draenei have been slowly losing. One group was lead by Akama, Elder Sage of the draenei. Cursed orcs serve Magtheridon-a terrible lord whose Black Citadel lies to the west. The cursed orcs, under the command of Magtheridon, hunted the draenei to the brink of extinction. With the help of Illidan and Kael'thas, the draenei hoped to turn the balance in their favor and rid themselves of the fel orcs once and for all. With Illidan's help, they fought back to retake their ancestral lands; and hoped that they would end their curse forever.[1]
      This information about draenei originates from the Manual of Monsters "draenei" article and Lands of Conflict. Both sources focus on the Lost Ones draenei-subrace found in the Fallow Sanctuary (Swamp of Sorrows), Blasted Lands, and Outland). The information predates the existence of the Harborage and knowledge of any other draenei subraces.
      The draenei lived alongside orcs for countless generations on the planet Draenor. When that world exploded and crumbled into what is now known as Outland, most of the draenei perished. A few managed to survive the cataclysm, however. When the Dark Portal was reopened into Azeroth, a small number of draenei traveled through, scarred by the ordeal of their world's destruction. These ragged wretches now call themselves the "Lost Ones," in mourning of their former world. Though otherwise a peaceful, private race, the draenei carry an intense hatred for all orcs and will slay them whenever the opportunity arises. Their home on Azeroth lies within the Swamp of Sorrows, though some have begun to travel beyond the Swamp’s borders in recent times. Scattered tribes of draenei are rumored to wander still the devastated fields of Outland, the last remnants of Draenor that still float within the Twisting Nether.[2]
      Having lost their home ages ago, the draenei struggle to reclaim their former lives - an impossibility, since their home no longer exists. Still, without the attempt, they would wither and die. Another factor that keeps the draenei alive is revenge against the orcs who once lived among them. They will take any risk to see an orc killed. If they can wipe out the entire race, so much the better. The draenei avoid combat unless the enemy in question is an orc. Then the normally peaceful draenei lash out in a fury, doing everything in their power to destroy their hated enemy.[2] They established a colony in the Swamp of Sorrows called the Fallow Sanctuary. They became vicious draenei and sequester themselves from outsiders, called themselves "lost ones".

    Speaking of "what will happen on Azeroth while we're in the Draenor in the past" think about this, if you havn't already. Who is left in charge of The Horde and Alliance while most of both factions are gone?
    I believe the Horde is left with Forsaken, Goblins, and Trolls while the alliance is left with Night Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, and Worgen.
    Putting this in mind, without spoiling everything, I will tell you the expansion after "Warlords of Draenor."
    It's what happens in Azeroth while we're all on Draenor.

      Warchief Vol'jin, Baine Bloodhoof, Lor'themar and whoever the Orc leader will be will stay on Azeroth.
      Likewise Varian, Moira, Malfurion, Gelbin and MU Velen are still on Azeroth.

      By that logic, why the flying donkers is Garosh not dead? I remeber hitting my fucking sword into his face several times over. Oh no, we need a stupid plot device to kick of our next expension, he's not dead after all this herperderp.
      Btw. the knowledge that it's actually Garosh 'beeing at it again' made me realy angry because of that reason, his story was told.
      Pandarias whole reason to extist as an expension was so Garosh can have his epic tale and then Blizz goes NOPE.AVI, just kidding, we couldn't come up with a better antagonist/reason for this to happen so yeah, Garosh.

  • @MyouKyuubi
    @MyouKyuubi 10 лет назад +20

    You're right about everything, aside from 1 fact...
    The titans, were the ones giving power to the dragonflights... And the bronze dragonflight was given the power to police the timeways...
    The titans MADE the timeways, meaning, across infinite timelines... there are only a limited number of titans, meaning, there will STILL, only be 1 sargeras. If they didnt make the timeways, then they themselves would not have the power to give the dragonflight, their power.
    Because how can you create time, unless you, yourself, exist outside of time? Something to remember, and also something to consider... Time travel is tricky, but if there's one thing i've been obsessing about for years, that is time travel.
    There will still only be 1 sargeras.
    EDIT: You drink demon blood, whilst a slave to its effects, you are completely red, the longer you're in that state, the more corrupted you become, thats why some... let's call them blood orcs, actually grow horns and spike all over their body... In fact, demonic enslavement isnt nessecary for this, i believe gul'dan grows spikes out of his back too... it's fel mutation, the more active fel energy is in your body, the more your body mutates into that of a demon.
    Once a blood orc is purified of the demonblood enslavement, the energy isnt active, given it's expelled from the body, but it leaves a permanent scar on the orc, green skin.
    Alternatively, an orc that is managed to be able to use fel magic, (assuming this orc originally had brown skin), will gradually begin to develope green skin... because red orc skin, is the colour of demonic enslavement, but green skin is the colour of demonic history... you know?
    Inside the azeroth horde, orcs have green skin, so there's really no way to tell the difference between an orc shaman or an orc warlock. In the iron horde, it's quite easy to tell the difference, as you might allready know.

    Warcraft Rant: Warlords of Daenor explained by meee.
    "So Garrosh is in panda jail, pouting because the heroes beat him up and took his Horde away because he 'just' killed several thousand people for no reason. So to bide his time, he gets into writing fan fiction. He writes fan fiction about his dad, and how cool it would be if he were alive and in charge of the Horde. A Horde with cannons and guns and lazer beams and black jack and hookers! That would be so cool!"
    "Then a magical faery dragon comes along and turns Garrosh's fan fiction into it's own reality... and now you must fight it! Have fun!"

    In my opinion, the REASON WHY they are making WoD and having us go to Draenor and confronting these orc warlords is to get us ready for the WARCRAFT MOVIE. Think about it, the Warcraft movie is gonna be partially set in Draenor. What better way to get more players into WoW than to have the game show a world and notable orc characters we may see in the movie. This is a hidden agenda publicity stunt! This expansion is merely a side quest because it will not affect our lore in OUR Azeroth. If any notable character from this alternate reality Draenor crossed the Dark Portal, we'd have to worry about lore issues that happened in our past. So in short, my opinion, this is just a side adventure with no really repercussions that is meant to gain subscriptions through old players that liked BC and new players that will see the same characters and Draenor both in the Warcarft movie.

    • @Nehlev
      @Nehlev 10 лет назад +4

      It's all because of money(but i still want to see that story) and alternate relativity opens a way to a new expansions in the future for example(i hope it won't happen): We are done with orcs in dreanor, killed last xpac boss then we try to go back to our azeroth, step through dark portal and *puff* we end up in alternate azeroth because some evil(put here whatever you want:old gods, titans, big spiders or Hogger) managed to change our dark portal into portal to alternate azeroth. Aaand you have another 20 years of expansions. Let's hope Blizzard won't read this, because who knows...it may end up with*great* idea for their money making machine.

    You know what would be fucking amazing for the next expansion?
    To have the option to create a character half Human/Draenei, Orc/Troll or Blood Elf/Night Elf and so on doing so would give your character a different design and look or even different racial skills.
    Personally, I would definitely make a Human/Blood Elf or a Draenei/Human.

      Luna Skye I assume you mean Garona, a Orc/Draenei, but the lore isn't specific on her actually and it's suggested various times that she's not half-draenei and just a weaker orc by in-game characters like Brann Bronzebeard.
      There are however half-breeds that we know are true. Med'an is Garona's son with Medivh, that would make him at least half-human/half-orc, and possible half-human, quarter-orc, quarter-draenei, unless the alternate theory that Garona is half-human is true, that would mean Med'an is three-quarter-human, quarter-orc.
      There's also Arator, half-human, half-high elf son of Turalyon and Alleria, Lelior who's three-quarter night elf and quarter troll, Rexxar who's half-orc, half-ogre and Falrevere who's hinted at being part-dwarf but mostly human.

      ***** Garona's origin is confirmed in the comics. The brother of her mother, her uncle, is Vindicator Maraad. You may know him as the draenei paladin from the Burning Crusade trailers. Also you forgot Giramar and Galadin, Rhonin and Vereesa's twin half-human/half-high-elf sons.
      And some extras: For Lelior to be quarter troll, his mother must have been a half-troll. And Half-orc/Half-ogre used to be common enough for them to have their own clan - The Mok'Nathal

    This was pretty helpful because, playing through the game now, you hit the level for the content and just get a quest that tells you nothing except "go to the Blasted Lands and repel the Horde invasion." I still have no idea how those on Azeroth got wind of this and knew the portal was linking to a different Draenor or how we knew what was coming through though. I didn't see anything ingame or here about how this all started from the side of people on Azeroth before the point you have the quest.

  • @Greendotz
    @Greendotz 10 лет назад +6

    Hmm, okay I’ve watched the whole vid and got to be honest, I’m very sceptical as to why they chose this to be the next expansion. Firstly I’m glad they chose the alternative dimension route rather than straight up time travel. This way they won’t outright change any of the lore from Vanilla to Mists and it’ll all still be relevant. At the same time it’s a slippery slope to incredibly lazy story writing, see DC’s alternative/infinite universe stories. It’s basically an excuse to do really bold and crazy stories, but then take the cowards way out and say “oh, this take place in universe B, so universe A is actually unchanged”. Technically it’s still cannon, but at the same time none of it matters. It becomes all too easy to just repeat that formula over and over.
    Also there’s the problems brought up at 1:11:35. It’s great that the past hasn’t been fucked up but now there’s two of everything? Sounds like a right royal mess. Maybe it’ll turn out all right and surprise a lot of people like mists did, but there are just so many other options they could’ve explored, and ultimately the thing I care most about WC is the lore.

      I like the (hidden) idea of this expansion: "Let's give players the opportunity to see and interact with the orcs and draenei from the past". - However, Garrosh going back in time for a second round and reality change sounds like a smart move, but yet too rash to be an excuse. I am also fond of Warcraft's lore even if I don't know each and every detail of it and the only thing that makes me frown at this expansion is the factor... Garrosh.

      That would been awkward if any Forsaken and/or Death Knights were present when they killed Ner'zhul, the Death knights would turn back to normal and the forsaken would either be alive again or just cease to exist altogether,

      I don't think it's a coincidence that this time frame links up well with the WoW movie... this lore will link up well with the upcoming film!

      ***** No they wouldn't, anything you do on this Draenor, such as killing Grommash, or like you say killing Ner'Zhul, will have absolutely no effect on our Azeroth, this draenor is not the draenor connected to our timeline.

      I know, I was saying that if this were a full-blown time-travel "You kill a butterfly you could sink continents down the line!" type expansion, I'm aware that the timeline presented in WoD is separate from the "prime" timeline.

    Theory: Old Velen is the last, final boss. After he hears these horrible stories about the orcs destroying his people, he fights to prevent it. As the story goes on, he does violent things, and progressively becomes more aggressive as he fights the war against the dark things on Draenor (which will probably be more than just Garrosh and the Iron Horde, like how WotK had more bad guys than just the Lich King, or Mists had more bad guys than just the Sha), until he falls into darkness. I know it will be difficult to make that believable, since Velen is so ancient and has lead his people away from corruption for thousands of years, and done so through all kinds of hell and high-water, but I just think it would be incredibly cool to see one of the paragons of the light fall. It would fit in well with the book War Crimes's theme of "we all could have been like Garrosh if we had made different choices". Also, it might be a great thing for Anduin, who I'm pretty sure will grow to be the leader of the Army of the Light, to witness, as he has great respect for Velen and sees him as a mentor.
    Also, I think that eventually, we'll get an expansion where we attack a world controlled by the Burning Legion. I don't know how that will work out, but WoD could have the potential to lead into that situation.

    Nobbel! Awesome video!
    Could you or anyone you know take this and turn it into a web chart of relationships between all these characters for quick referral? It would look cool and probably be quite useful to those wanting to maintain savvyness on the lore.

    considering how the expansion has fallen into place so far, i wouldn't be surprised to find out that the expansion boss isn't necessarily grom hellscream so much as it is grom being puppeteered by an old god. like son like father.

    One of the things, and I am not completely up to date on any relative speculation... is that if something is influencing Kairoz, or Kairoz is trying to do something on his own for whatever reason, maybe that is what is driving the Iron Horde to commit these actions. Which then begs the question to me, if there is some kind of external influence taking place, how much of the Warlords is authentic to their past selves...? I really find this concept kind of fascinating, because I don't have any expectations. I am probably going to be overwhelmingly surprised no matter what happens. All and all... I enjoyed (as always) this video tremendously, I found it to be extremely insightful.

      'Hoard' means to gather things into your house, or 'collect' them, and keep them there forever because you create a strong bond in your mind with them. 'horde' is the term used in world of warcraft :3

    Well if Ner'zhul's soul was never put into the Lich Kings Armour then that means in that time line Arthas never became the Lich King and was never killed. Meaning the scouge was never invented and Cindragose was never brought back. So that means everything that ever so happened never happened. Which also means that the wrath of the Lich King never happened which causes the Death night class never to be invented and Salvanes to not have the Valkry which means when she fought against the worgen in Silverpine Forest and died she was never brought back causing Lord Godfrey to be brought back to life. Also Sylvanes does not get turned into a banshee from Arthas meaning the undead are not part of the horde causing the plague never to be invented. So yeah all the story is ruined in one timeline and in the other its all perfect and happy. Right? Right.

      I'm curious to see if Medivh is still alive, if Kill'Jaden is still in contact with Gul'dan, where does that leave that timeline's Medivh? If their Dark Portal was never connected, then Medivh's corruption wouldn't have been found out by that timeline's Khadgar and friends....

    I believe this next expansion they are going to try to reclaim older subscriptions rather than campaign for new players. This is probably why they are returning to an area that was their most popular expansion to date. I'm so excited to see all my favorite areas again revamped to their original glory. I will be pretty upset if Grom is the end boss this time around.
