    I stopped using relaxers because I was tired of paying the money and I didn't like how my hair felt "dead" and I was always hiding my hair from water/sweat. Later, I learned about all the "extra" chemicals they put in our products ('specially made for black hair') and the increased risk of fibroids and that sealed the deal for me.
    creamy crack clean for 13 years...ain't going back.

      I love my natural hair, but I miss my relaxer honestly. I preferred the lye ones though. The result was much more shine and volume! I miss being able to put curlers in and go. Detangling and moisturizing takes forever. And my hair grew faster when I was relaxed too just because low porosity natural hair is hard to keep moisture in and breaks easily.

      Sis, we didn't know that then. Either models were mixed, or wore wigs and we believed or wanted to believe our kinky hair could be made to look/ react like models. After Billions of dollars later in addition to incredible hair and scalp damage, and, in some cases irreversible damage we now realize how gullible we were.

    • @Boobalopbop
      @Boobalopbop 3 года назад +4

      @@msvida121 I knoooooow! Generations fell for it. My mom took me for my first perm when I was 12 and we went to the salon every 2 weeks… Only when I saw my HS graduation pics at 17 did I decide I need them redone with a weave. My hair was so flat, thin and stringy. That was another mistake. I am so glad this younger generation seems to have learns from our mistakes. I’m 41 now and I don’t know anyone that relaxes their daughter’s hair. Most people I know went natural years ago.
      It’s just a shame that they used to advertise relaxers with women who don’t have relaxers. I remember thinking it was absurd when (I think Clairol) had Beyoncé as their model when (at the time) her hair was all blonde weave. How is she representing your hair coloring kits when she hasn’t used it? She just got a blonde weave? But that’s par for the course when it comes to black hair products. Just lie.
      ** I know Beyoncé has gone natural since then. This happened in the early 2000s

    • @Kubulek17
      @Kubulek17 2 года назад

      @@Boobalopbop I mean most colour kits are false advertising anyways, weave or no weave models have their hair coloured by master hairstylists and the box is simply placed in the ad

      @@Kubulek17 I realized that when Beyoncé started modeling for Clairol. I just KNEW it was not possible that Beyoncé would let box dye anywhere near her, lol. And this was the early 2000s.
      But this isn’t the same, in my opinion. Had they had a black woman who actually didn’t have perm but whose hair was straightened some other way, I guess that’s not AS deceitful as just putting an Indian woman whose natural hair is straight and pretend she uses a relaxer. Like I’m positive the children on kiddie perm boxes have never had relaxers. No way. Knowing what we know now, I just don’t believe it.
