well its obvious that instead of stepping through the front and risking getting tangled up it is much easier to mount from the side and swing on, very nice. I used to watch the bass masters all the time and i noticed that the best fishing set up for control and fishing was setting the trolling motor to the front and pulling your fishing boat, pulling instead of pushing your water craft is more effective because the wind has less affect on your direction. So when you use the 2 floats at the back when you mount your trolling motor try to set it up so you can steer the trolling motor with your feet [just a clamp on cross bar, throttle control depends on your trolling motor. The Pro Bass trolling motor i saw was controlled with a foot pedal/pedals for direction and speed.
Very nice job. I agree one of your best yet. You could add a troff style tray running sideways under the seat. This was you could have small storage on each side of the seat. Like maybe a recessed drink holder. This way if you rotate the seat you won't hit anything.
That was awesome! I think your camera guy was right-you should turn the motor around and drive it single side forward to make it more aerodynamic (aquadynamic?). Then attach a cooler between the 2 back barrels with multi chambers for drinks and small supplies. You could incorporate "pedals" for your foot rests like on motorcycles into the pvc and call it a Waterharley! :)
I was surprised at how well it floated. Was there much difference in speed with the motor in front? One of the best parts of your design is not just the low cost but it should last for years with almost no maintenance. I am sure you will have lots of improvements like flotation or livewells. What if you got rid of the chair so a person could lay face down over the front barrel and place a clear plastic port on the bottom so they could have a glass bottom boat and have a bimini to keep the sun off and a way to manuever the trolling motor while laying down. Find some clear water and go exploring. Thumbs up.
I was very surprised how well it floated and performed as well. On the motor, I didn't see a big difference. You do bring up a good point, I need to start speed testing to see which position is faster. On the different design, I see you and I think the alike. I had a design very similar, but my problem is that I don't know of any crystal clear water near me. I might have to do some traveling to track one down. Thank you very much for the compliments and questions.
Again, I'd like to see spray foam in tubes and the pods to make sure you didn't take on water. To great a chance the pods would leak. You could have also molded the spray foam around the battery boxes by wrapping them in clear plastic and leaving them in place while you sprayed it. It would not have increased the overall expense or the weight significantly. If I had a pond I could use something like this one, I'd build one in a minute.
I cut the bottom of the barrels to the height I needed, and also cut the top of the barrel off. I screwed the two pieces together to make a new short barrel. Thanks for the question.
I have tried rivets, but had two problems. They pulled out of the plastic way too easy, and some of the plastic is just to thick. Thanks for the question.
Hi SUPER, a few items which could be useful in fabricating the next "plasti - pleasure yacht " would be a sheet of FRP ( fiber reinforced panel ) as textured floor panels and maybe a couple plastic milk crates for storage aka tackle box or gear compartment. Your idea of EMPTY flotation canisters is heading in the right direction. Displacement with no added weight . If a person is heavier, then make the barrels taller. Or only serve LITE beer in the cooler ;-P JwgK
I love the name "plasti - pleasure yacht ", I might use that if you don't mind. It's too funny not to use. I am working on a bunch of upgrades for this boat, you hit on a couple of them. Thank you for the suggestions and the comments!
Well, it all depends on what state you are in and if you are on private or public water. In my state, yes for public water and no for private water. Thank you for the great question!
Hi Superwhatever: LOL I am subbed and have been following your' designs since the beginning. I have to say you have a great imagination. So many designs, I am impressed. I like them all. I'm not being critical I have one question. It seems you are just screwing into the Pontoons. Have you ever had a problem with water leaking inside? I'm sorry if I am wrong just curious. I do think they are all neat designs. If I was going to build I would have a hard time making a choice. I am a 85 year old senior so it would probably be the lightest to maneuver. I guess this would be the one. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us, great job.
To be honest, the only time water came in is when I would swing my wet legs over them. After saying that, the pontoons do need to be a few inches taller. When I went full speed the bolts were very close to the water line. As always I am doing a few redesigns, and taller pontoons is first on the list. Thank you so much for the comment and the question!
Well, in the video total I had around 255lbs on it. With the motor on full speed, the water was pretty close to the top of the pontoon (but not coming in). At lower speeds, the water was well below the top. I will be doing a redesign with taller pontoons , I should be able to add about 150lbs capacity to it. Thank you for the great question!
Can you make one that Is colaspabile?? I'm a 65 yr old senior who loves fishing but because of bad knees cant kneel down much. If you could make a boat that is high enough to just be able to get in and sit down I might buy it from you.
I can try to make a collapsible one and make a video on it. Unfortunately, I do not sell any of my boats yet. I do dream of my boats being mass produced, but it is just a dream. Thank you for the suggestion and the comment!
I just have to ask, would make a difference to put a conical designed "thing" on the front of the pontoons? I've been sub'ed to your channel for about 2 years and none of the boats you've made have a pointed front on them. Have you decided it's not worth the extra fabrication time and expense and hinse not enough gain in speed or less drag. P.S. Sorry about the lack of terminology on the questions being asked.
I guess the easiest answer would be, sometimes I am not sure how to attach one without compromising the pontoon at the time. My best example would be my 5 gallon bucket fishing boat. I had no figured out how to attach a nose cone to the bucket without putting holes in it. Now, I would just use a plastic welder to attach the cone without damaging the bucket. Thank you for the great question!
@@supergokue1 Do you think it will make a difference though? I think it should. Watching the vid's it seems like there is a lot of water building up at the nose of the pontoons. Water is damn near as hard to plow through as dirt when it is going up against a flat surface. That's why cars get washed away on low water bridge crossings. Even when the water is only a few inches deep. It is just the blunt / flat face that causes the problem.
I wish I could remember how much it would float. I had to get ride of it when we moved overseas. I can tell you my weight was about 165lbs. or so at the time. Thanks for the question, sorry I couldn't give you an exact weight.
i mad one time a pontoon raft using huge some smaller PVC pips can fit 4 people with a hut on it but i gave it away ca, where i live there no place to use it at
,walmart, amazon, home depot. They make a 2 part liquid foam, its for filling post holes for fencing. It expands alot and not too expensive. Or just buy a sheet of Styrofoam and cut it to fit. The use liquid nails to hold it in place. Either way works.

Being a heavier person , and old I really like the design. I'm not comfortable in a canoe or a kayac so I may give it a try.

A three legged table never wobbles.
The tripod design is brilliant for stability.
Thank you, I appreciate it :)
Best yet!!! Had a ton of fun filming!!!!
Thanks buddy, couldn't do them without ya :)
great idea, looks like a good build, hope to be able to copy that with your model!

I really like this one!!!!!
It was a ton of fun. If I had to make it again, I would make it with 4 pods for extra weight capacity. Thanks for the comment :)
Love it. Total change of design 👍 keep experimenting 😄
Very cool, thank you!
Brilliant love it I’ve got to make one of these Larrysullivan in London well done mare

It looks great, how much total weight do you think it can handle with you and the gear?

I love it but, what do you do when have to take a leak?
Given that the drums/pontoons are not sealed (holes for rods and batteries) wouldn't they fill with water?
Yes they would if a wave hit them, but I have a few ideas that I am working through to fix that problem. Thanks for the question.
@@supergokue1 Given the planned usage is a pond I don't see it as that much of a danger but just a safety concern
My cousin escaped Cuba on a similar boat...
This place s great where did you find the barrel/ pontoon

Safety first :)
You need to foam the inside of the pontoons.
It would make it unsinkable, I might have to do that in the future. Thanks for the suggestion!
Edwin Hewson, where would you get the foam?
