    Great start in idea. But, the inside of the closed in pipe needs to be filled with closed cell foam, then truly it will be unsinkable.

    absolutely awesome! i agree filling with a foam would truly make them unsinkable. the current design is a massive step up from a fiberglass boat but you'd only need two holes worn or poked into the pontoon for it to start filling. given the amount of wear this boat would likely see, it would happen eventually. but even then your looking at years of good use and patching them really well is certainly possible to.

    Your idea is great, but if you build a platform on top of the tubular pipe like hulls, the weight of the platform forces them beneath the water. Making it a much smoother ride, because these hulls ride beneath the water like a torpedo, instead of on top of the water which is rough. You would have to place the outboards on the stilts or vertical beams that hold up the platform. This type of design is called a SWATH small waterline area twin hull. This is the future of all boating being, fishing, sailboats, ships & even ferries boats.

    A very nice solution to the problems you mentioned both with wooden and fiberglass boats. One point that the video did not answer was how does the boat handle turbulent waters and storm conditions? Often multihull boats are more stable capsized than upright, so it would be interesting to check that failure mode to see what can be done in the design to reduce the likelihood of a capsize.

    I am glad you mentioned the splashing, since this design will not be very suitable for rough ocean conditions. You were lucky to have a smooth first journey. The bow needs to be higher and also the shape of the hull needs to be curved upwards like a banana, with a straight pipe design it is not possible to achieve good rough weather capabilities.
    But the idea is good 👍⚓

I mean, that's the argument you make at the very beginning with the plate test. Also, with respect to the issue of adding more micro-plastic to the ocean, to what degree does this material break down over time? Have you thoroughly tested(considered) that aspect?

    • @tbonemc2118
      @tbonemc2118 4 года назад

      Expansion and contraction and air pressure is insignificant as the pipe is designed to operate at full working pressure for years and none of that capacity is being used in this design.
      The danger would be that the pontoons have sufficient wall thickness so that the walls don't flex while the boat is planning. Just like steel, HDPE will fatigue fracture if it is bent back and forth long enough.

    Wow really nice! I live in Clearwater Florida on the water. Unfortunately tides go from 4 or 5 feet to zero. This type of boat would be perfect. I wonder if they sell in Florida?
    If their was only a process to convert water bottles to build boats?

    The plastic pipe floats no problem but you add engines and all the other items in a boat I would want the tubes filled with flotation stuff. Closed cell or styrofoam what ever is the least expensive. I know these will last years but sun damages plastic over time so what is the plan when a boat needs to be recycled?

    Pretty cool but the hull shape is very inefficient maybe the tube could.be heated and a pressure could be put on it to expand into a mould

    A great idea. Perhaps it is your long term plan, why didn't you use some of the hdpe that is polluting just about every water way on the planet instead using new hdpe pellets

    • @AquatecIndonesia
      @AquatecIndonesia  3 года назад

      Yes, but the problem is that secondary or tertiary HDPE has very low supply, quality, and/or recycle rate. Therefore we use only new HDPE pellets.

      @@AquatecIndonesia agreed, but even recycling a small percentage in the mix would help reduce some of the stuff fouling the oceans that both our countries rely on

    • @AquatecIndonesia

      @@georgesmith4509 Agreed, thank you. So far we use leftover HDPE from our production line. If we can find high quality recycled HDPE, we will add it into the mix.
