  • I've reached a period in my organization journey where I've mastered quite a few things and learned easier and better ways to stay clutter-free and organized. But the linen closet is NOT one of them. So I spent time doing some research and learning about different methods of organizing the linen closet, and I think I've finally developed a method of keeping sheets, towels, fitted sheets, pillowcases, and the like organized!

I used to work in housekeeping at a hotel. We used to fold our sheet sets and package them they way you just did. Not only is it the easiest cleanest way to do it. It just makes sense. You don't know how many times I have considered creating a RUclips channel just to show how to fold a sheet set properly. Every linen organization I have seen they fold in a weird way. So thank you for showing the best way... finally someone 🙌 👏

I love your channel! I take a set of sheets and fold everything minus one pillowcase from the set. After everything is folded, I put all of the items inside of the remaining pillowcase and fold that over to fit around the rest so I can grab the whole set at one time and I don't have to search for everything. I also have wine racks hanging on my walls in the bathroom and I have extra towels rolled and placed in each spot that the bottle of wine would normally be in.

^^ This!! Fold up everything and tuck it all in one of the pillowcases. I even keep my sheets in under the bed storage bins to keep them nearby when I need them. (Plus, if I get lazy on the day I wash them, they're out of sight out of mind, lol).
Oh, and use those extra, mismatched pillowcases to clean ceiling fan blades instead of decluttering them!

You can use unmatching pillow cases for a million uses. I put draw strings in the top and used them as mini clothes hampers for kids. I hung them inside their bedroom closet or on the side of a dresser and they learned to put the dirty clothes in them. A lot of other uses.

Nice method for storing linens. After my kids left home, I made the decision to just have one set of sheets per bed. They go directly from the dryer back to the bed, so no folding or storing required. I do use the spa towel method for extra towels.

I lay my fitted sheets out on the bed, fit two corners inside the opposite corners, fold in half and then again like you until I have a neat rectangle. I put both folded sheets and one case inside the second pillow case and fold over to make a neat/complete bedding package. I’m pretty obsessive about the rounded folded edges of sheet bundles and towels facing out. I also save pretty gift boxes and baskets to hold the random things that clutter a closet(night lights, travel cosmetics, etc) I open my closet door and it looks like a linen shop. My husband calls my passion for organizing closets “playing house.”

The first part of folding the spa towel hit me with serious nostalgia as it is the first step to folding notebook paper (for those of you old enough to remember that stuff) to end up with a note to pass to friends in between classes. You know, back in the dark dim past before cell phones&texting 😂 Anyway, loved this as my linen closet is like yours was-nice until you needed something. Will be redoing it this way and love the pillowcase in basket thing, too, as I use extra pillows for chronic pain both sitting and sleeping so I have loads extra. Am anticipating the pure delight at seeing them all orderly in a basket🧺 Happy early birthday and yes, after 30 it all kind of blends for sure!

I find it ends up too baggy looking and too much tinkering. Instead I wrap the folded long and narrow pillowcase around the stacked sheets and tuck the one end of the pillowcase into the other end (envelope method) acting as a belt for the sheets.

    • @katiegleaves3792
      @katiegleaves3792 Год назад

@@Starsofneon i like/use the method you described (using the one pillowcase as a belt/envelope) rather than putting the rest of the set inside the pillow case, and fiddling with everything to get it to fold flat and neat. However, I have terrible allergies and like the idea of encasing the pillowcases (since that's what will be against my face) within the sheets instead, minimizing contact with irritants while being stored.

I juast did all my sweaters and shirts in my dresser using the method you suggested with your kids clothes. Now I can see everything I have in my drawers so simply. I have been using the method of picking my clothes the night before and laying them out because before I did this I would simply waste time staring into my closets and drawers after being showered. I just could not make a decision that early in the morning. I love the new drawers and like you I feel joy when I open my drawers and see how neat they are. It is also encouraging me to get rid of some of my sweaters and shirts because I have waaaaaay more than I need.
Kalli, really sympathize with your need to escape for a bit of piece and quiet when you have young children. It looks more organized and if any time any one falls (usually with my kids), the fold doesnt open. 👌

I have 3 sets of sheets, full, twin and queen. I have extra pillow cases too. Your idea is putting them in a basket was inspiring to me. I have a much larger linen closet( have to). I put queen on top shelf, full on next shelf and twin on the bottom shelf. Except I do one other thing; I put my sheets in one pillow case and keep them organized in that fashion. The beach towels, I do the same thing. I roll them and place on a laid out new shower curtain (basically on the floor) along with the pads that I must use. I'm 64 years old, married 40 years, not a newbie when it comes to home stuff. Still, I worked myself into such a state trying to fold fitted sheets this morning that I LITERALLY cried in frustration. My husband said I shouldn't waste a beautiful day in the linen closet and he insisted we take the dog to the park. Of course I came back and got right to it. I can't say I'm an expert, but the results are okay, for now. After a frustrating day, your video made me chuckle. Thank you.

I too use a pillowcase to hold my fitted and flat sheet, along with the extra pillow cases for each size bed. Found that when my daughters were younger and helped get the sheets, the sheets would go everywhere. When everything is in one pillow case, it’s easier to carry. Love the rolling of the towels “spa style”

I dig sassy Kallie. We change our pillow cases almost every night so I have 3 sets of sheets for the household, but probably 20 pillow cases. I will be implementing the basket!

You're amazing, funny, and so wise! Thanks to you and all your efforts, I am now equipped to conquer my linen closet as well!!:)
Speaking of random parking lots? My husband and I parked in Lowe's lot to eat our Chick-fil-A sandwiches and slurp down our iced drinks. Looking around us, we noticed several other people doing same. Parking lots can rock when we need to find a spot to sip coffee concoctions, film RUclips videos or munch lunch!
Thanks goo-gobs for all your life advice.

You are so cute and as a 60 year old I too finally looked on RUclips to see how to fold sheets that aren’t a jumbled mess. Besides of course putting them back on the bed! This necessity comes from starting a short term rental in the very near future and I might get stuck folding sheets! LOL. Thanks for your videos.

I never thought about the fitted sheet so much until I started watching RUclips! Lol I was blessed with a mom who folded fitted sheets. So I’ve been helping her since I was little.
We also used the 2nd pillow case, inside out, and put all the sheets and other pillow case inside it. Grab and go!

Happy birthday 🎉! I started to use my mum's way which is a mix of folding everything and then putting all of the bed set in one of the pillowcases. I don't use top sheets as we have duvets and duvet covers but I still wanted it all together. I think I might use a bigger version of those baskets to put the pillow case bedding packages in or maybe plastic tubs with lids so I can stack them and separate the different sizes as I don't have loads of shelves just one. I really like your way of folding towels

Kallie, you helped me wake up this morning so thank you for that! I use part of my master closet for my linens because I don’t have a linen closet. The spa towel idea will definitely be helpful but we don’t care about our sheets matching so I do my best to fold and stash. Thanks for your ideas! 🥰

I love your sense of humor too. Keep up the great work. 🥰 I always laugh when I see someone trying to find a fitted sheet. Usually you just want to wad it up and throw it in the corner. Since retiring we don't need to keep extra sets of sheets, but I enjoyed this video and watched it all.
