    Thanks a million. I’ve put new sensors and a new transmission solenoid but it bummed me out. Now I just disconnected the alternator and bam! All the symptoms disappeared. Thanks again man.

    We have a 05 sebring with the 2.7 193k on it now, after this past winter, the A/C STOPPED WORKING as all 4 windows stopped working! the motor runs strong though! I do love this car BECAUSE IT RUNS SO GOOD now if only everything worked! Now there is a new problem-I cannot communicate with the ecu! I swapped out the 10amp fuse in the middle of the interior fuse box, the one with the black plastic thing over it (wings) which allowed it to be disconnected but not completely removed so, I forced it out to change the fuse & now the plastic thing slides in & out so, it doesn't stop you from completely removing it anymore whereas b4, it would disconnect when you pull it out but, you could not get the fuse out. it controlled the trunk release, the key fob, interior lights & whatever else & by the way, in replacing exhaust pieces on this car, I like how Chrysler foresaw that in the future, someone might need to work on the exhaust & they notched part of the exhaust flange allowing me to drill it & add a bolt to clamp it together so, Thumbs up Chrysler & the exhaust pipes & flanges are thicker then most-lifetime exhaust or at least a 10 year setup! I noticed that the engine light flashed 10x WONDER WHAT THAT MEANS? I KNOW THAT MY SCAN TOOL WOULDN'T EVEN LIGHT UP B4 REPLACING THE 10 AMP FUSE IN THE CENTER OF THE INTERIOR FUSE PANEL(for interior lights, door locks, trunk release & etc) but, still not connection to the ecu! I am watching vids to try & remedy this issue! ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!

    Heads up if u got to replace the TCM it will leak like crazy definitely recommend starting with the allt. Made no sense to do that first to me so I went straight for the tcm replaced it and leaks and still have the same problem.

    I have a 2001 Sebring LXI, the transmission problem was caused by the "Cam Shaft Position Sensor", replaced it, and it fixed the transmission. The on board diagnostics gave this solution.

    I kind of giggled when you said you didn't have your code reader with you so you were Flying Blind, little trick, cycle the ignition from on to run 3 times and it'll show you all your codes. I wish I would have known that myself before I went out and bought a code reader.

      Aware of that trick though you can’t read live data that way! But certainly helpful if you just need a quick code I did forget about that at the time of filming

      they could also be stored codes. its not the best but it could work i guess. just go buy an obd tool they arent that much

      How does it show the codes, by flashing/blinking the check engine light? I had an 1987 Dodge Charger GLHS 2.2turbo II that worked that way.

      It will...we have an 04 Stratus 2.4L and I just changed the transmission fluid and filter after 15 years no issues. Put a new solenoid on as well..no more slippage. But to be honest, I think it just needed a PCM reset...

      @@Villanelle2k24 I got an 04 Stratus 2.7L w/ about 140,000mi, the water pump is shot & I don't want to fix it myself, rather not. Wishing I had the 2.4L like yours right now.

      I have a 2001 Sebring LXI it starts but wont shift into any of the gears im figuring it has something to do with transmission cable or maybe possibly a sensor. Im new to working on basically a eclipse im more of an older style car girl SIMPLE FIXES . Any advise?

    would those symptoms also apply to Dodge Ram 2001 van? I wonder!!! So it is AC ripple caused by bad diodes, if I remember correctly isn't it? yes I remember learning that with the Scanner Danner course.

    This is how I got my 05 Pacifica for free. It was going nuts because of the alternator. My cousin thought it was the transmission and was done with it, gave me title and keys.. At stoplights, it would just clunk repeatedly. Speedometer was also very off. Threw a alternator at it and fixed $300 later.

    I have a 1991 Chrysler Imperial with electrical problems it is downshifting when it in first going into second and when your driving the door locks locks and unlocks are going crazy and the cencer that let's u know the door not shut goes crazy

    I like your trouble shooting. Folks must keep in mind that today's cars are JUST a computer on wheels. As such these mobile computers DEMAND clean DC current to operate correctly. So, if a diode on the alternator's internal "Diode Pack", of which there are 6, goes bad it induces a "false pulse" which throws off ALL of the computers in the car. The errant pulse comes through on the DC power circuit of the respective computer chips and can NOT distinguish if it came through the sensor lines or the power lines. This was ALL verified by you at 4:10 when you disconnected the alternator control line and started the car and the fault indication of the "speedometer needle jumping" went away, it also caused the "limp mode" to go away. If you had performed a short driving test you would now verify the transmission... shifting correctly. If the alternator sounds "whiny" this usually indicates the bad diode thus all the problems. The alternator was needing replaced also as indicated by the noisy bearings as you showed at 7:20. This is normal since this is an 11 year old vehicle and the bearings are a "sealed type" and can only be replaced. Keep up the great work.

    You should be able to turn the key off to on 3 times and it will give you your obd codes where the odometer digital display is.

    Hey brother quick question the other day i stalled at a light the car didnt drive ot didnt reverse amd i have that loud whining noise from alternator. I unplugged the alternator for a day or two and plugged it back in and i swear it wanted to drive but went back into limp mode. I have a 05 pacifica and man when ot drove it drove good but yeah the alternator looks pretty old .. Im guess 200 bucks is a good investment on a new alternator if it means the dang car ia gonna run right again. Lemme know what you think

      Hey I to have a peicofshitica alt whines but removing wire has no effect however I took batt off and alt it worked for a minute or two. It's pulling some codes to it must be the alt and poss fluid or soli

    I have a 2007 chrystler Sebring 2.4 I just bought a week ago .. the car wasn’t shifting out of first gear but it was drive-able .. I then went and bought a selenoid pack took the old one off and put the new one on the car wouldn’t accelerate at all when you put it in drive it won’t move .. so I took the new one off and put the old one back on and it is still not working the car only goes into reverse do you have any suggestions on what I should do next because I checked the transmission fluid and the fluid were red which tells me the transmission isn’t burnt out please help

      Blvckpesochris Houston hey buddy, first thing I would start by getting the codes read and see what you get. Possible that a speed sensor is dead and trans isn’t sensing speed therefore holding the gear. Let me know what you come up with

      Had same issues with a 2.4L that was slipping in 2nd & 3rd. Put new solenoid pack on...no fix. Changed ATF4 fluid with new filter and glued new gasket on, cleaned pan and magnet. 15 years first trans fluid change...166k...never had a trans issue til I drove in 3rd by mistake! Gonna try to get 100k more for local driving 30 miles a day only. My point was...changing the fluid & filter PLUS a new solenoid was the simple fix. 🙏👌👍

      @@JesseMarrin see my reply above...my Stratus is driving ok but kinda sluggish on uptake. Do u think I should change speed sensors as well...noticing RPMs kinda "off" to speedometer...I'm a lady so IDK what the tech spec term for it is. Seems like speed traveled isn't spot on with dashboard.

      Dutchess80 I’ve noticed that before on some Sebrings, I believe it’s a computer glitch that might be unresolved, you might need a pcm update which would be done at a certified shop or a dealer. The sensors are all talking to each other but the pcm is most likely not functioning correctly

    Damn it would of been nice to see what code it was throwing to go along with the symptoms and solution. But still good video. A lot of times you can get different issues with 2 of the same car that are throwing the same code so even with a code reader you can only go so far. Even with live data you are still limited.

    Turn key off and on 3times . leave in on position the 3rd turn. Ok now your odometer will display obd codes dodge trick for ya

    Makes sense, if the trans isn’t getting enough battery power it would definitely dick with the speed sensor and probably freak it out. Probably because of the way Chrysler’s are designed. Idk they’ve always been very different with how their cars are built.

    Does a 3.7. Have the water pump inside the engine like a 2.7? Is a timing chain of belt.

    So are you saying if the ait bad it can cause the transmission to not work or shift at all please answer me before I junk this nice clean car it don't move SOMETIMES it jump into gear

      Model51 correct it will go into a limp mode if the alternator diode is bad. Don’t throw the car away just yet take a little time and do some diagnostics first. Also if the shift solenoid pack is faulty that’s a 30 min job I also have a video for. Very seldom the problem is actually an internal problem that would make it a “throw away car” let me know!

      Model51 look in the video for the wire I disconnected to stop alternator output, with a disconnected alternator will temporarily “solve the issue” if that’s your problem. Obviously don’t drive around like that too long or battery will die, but it’s a quick check if replacing alternator will solve your problem before you spend money.

    You can turn the key all the way forward then back 3 times and leaving on the 3rd time to pull the codes. Obviously not starting the vehicle from acc to run but not start.

      @@JesseMarrin I'm having a heck of a time with my car. Thought was speed sensor because speedometer was jumping around and stuck in limp mode but not giving the code so possibly transmission gone. Getting p0700 and p0731. Had no symptoms before it went out. Was on way to work when I realized it didn't switch gears and then codes popped up. Was low on transmission fluid and fluid doesn't look burnt to me but it's a lighter color then the stuff I put in. It was less then a qt low but haven't found leak yet but fluid didn't help. I had issues years ago and took to shop they suggested not to fool with fluid said could cause it to go out. It never ran bad but gave me code p0731 and months later speed sensor went out. Replaced and never another issue out of her but so many miles figured I'd drive it until the wheels fell off. Unfortunately I've been driving this because fuel prices and long travel to work so I let my jeep tags expire on accident and couldn't get new tags because of covid so took insurance off of it and a darn tree fell on it so now this is all I have lol. Went looking for vehicles on line yesterday. Looked at 10 and everyone has serious issues the owners tried to cover up lol. My favorite is when they change the oil and the antifreeze is low so you have to look down in it with a flashlight to see the oil floating on top with a bunch of what appears to be stop leak and the motor has been pressure washed lol. Anyway debating on putting a transmission in it because motor runs so good and it's been such a reliable vehicle but I've had it for 12yrs and it's pushing 300k although head gasket would be easy to replace if that's what goes next lol. Anyway if you have ideas I'm open to suggestions. Wish I new someone who could assist me with this vehicle but unfortunately I don't.

      @@my2centz196 do me a favour and disconnect the single black connector on the alternator and start your vehicle like mine and see if your speedometer jumping around problem goes away. Keep in mind it won’t be charging the vehicle when you do this. If problem disappears you need an alternator. Sounds like the problem to me. Look at that before a transmission.

      @@my2centz196 with the connector disconnected you can go for a short drive to just to check if it shifts. But a SHORT DRIVE cause you won’t get far without an alternator!!!!!!! Just a test you should run. And keep a booster pack or a friend with jumper cables at your side for this test

    ive got a 05 pt cruiser . no speedo, codes u0101, p1604, 0037, 0031. changed input n output sensors. cleaned pcm connections, and sensor connections. i may just order a new pcm and bite the bullet. any info would help

      Ss999brandon interesting issue I’ll have to look further into those codes, have you looked into whether the stepper motors are functional in the cluster?

      i swapped out that solenoid pack before. although it never changed anything. at that time it was intermittently not shifting into OD. that was when my ex wife owned it 4 years ago so i dont remember much but i know it had pcm codes back then again with intermittent issues......i started it last week ans it drove ok but was having issues going into od. then i changed the atf4 flyid and it went into limp.... i dont know if you are familiar with pcm and their connectors. i may be missing one of the female copper pins. ill be checking the junk yard tomorrow to look at another one. on the schematic i see it as vehicle speed signal. i cant find anything on it and i did email an ase tech, but ill take anyones input atm. its a project car i got for free so im not minding throwing money at it atm

      Ss999brandon I’m not familiar with which pins operate what, however an easy way to get that information is grab your serial number and call a Chrysler dealership and as for a wiring diagram for the tcm an honest fair parts advisor will gladly forward an emailed or faxed copy of that, i do that all the time for customers at the gm dealer I work at 😂

      Ss999brandon speedometer work? If you have a code reader or a friend that can hook up and view live data you may be able to see what various sensors are showing and you will be able to see what the Tcm is actually seeing. I always start there or it’s just a guessing game

      ya i have it the reader in my car. i think i did a freeze frame and saved the data. ill have to look at the reader . if i didnt save it ill run it again tomorrow.

      Thanks,I've owned a 2013 charger se for 4 years now. It has 79000 on it. 3.6 liter I love it. I do the maintenance regularly,no problems so far.fingers crossed.

    I wonder if the alternator lost a diode or rectifier and began sending AC voltage to the system which affected the speedometer by putting voltage through the ground?

      As to the specifics I never looked into it, though I do know the diodes are problematic in the denso alternators used is early 2000s Chrysler vehicles

    service or better change the alternator, sounds like damaged/dry bearings. dont even start a car that has a noisy or seized pulley!! if you rev it you can start fire!!

      It’s one solenoid unit replaced as one piece. On the front/top of the transmission with a big connector on the top
