I hope these types of movies back, without violence, without graphical abusing, without sex, just a beautiful story, now hollywood movies are discusting, even comedy ones
It's interesting how the upper class ladies wear luxurious fur stoles, in what appears to be a tropical climate, just to go downtown. Joan looks amazing in the scene where she's dressed like a stainless steel sword: Grey sheath dress with chinchilla-fur trimmed short sleeves, chinchilla stole, a see-through plastic handbag with silvery trim...and that hair! It looks like they dyed her hair the same shade of grey to match the furs. These old films are a time capsule. Thank you.
Shucks, what a absolutely FANTASTIC FILM! This has got to be one of Joan Crawfords finest performances with so many levels of depth in her characterization. Every actor in this film is Stellar! Thanks for this pure Gem of filmmaking. Everytime I see such a wonderful film I always see God smiling, impressed with his children's skills that tell of the human condition and life experiences. From the writers to production assistants to actors to producers to sound to lights and everyone on and off set.
Never knew this movie existed. What a gem! Joan was superb, I could tell exactly what her character was thinking by her body language and facial expression. Clothes, hair, jewelry, exquisite! Thank you for this upload.
The scene where she explains to the young man and asks him to be with his daughter. And after he says no, you see her walking up the stairs, and the way she holds her body, you know exactly how the character feels. That is serious talent.
Diane Baker played a superb daughter to JC... TWICE!!! Joan mustve liked her and Diane mustve been brilliant at letting Joan be the Star... Bravo to her. Great film! ❤
I'm so glad someone posted this video. Maybe I'm too much of a JC fan, but there are times in this film that I feel she does some of her best acting. And she looks great for almost 60!
It’s really nice to see so many people today who recognize the amazing actress that she was. We all have two sides to us but when one side is embellished then it’s blown out of proportion and it’s not fair or even real but it hurts deeply. I’m sure the spirit of Joan is feeling a sense of respect for so many appreciating her work. If you get a chance to see her in an interview you will fall in love with her charming and down to earth personality.
I have seen almost a 360 degree turnaround regarding Joan. A bad punchline in 1980s after "Mommie Dearest," she now seems widely respected as a woman and actress. In her interviews, she was humble and chatty, totally opposite of the bombastic Bette Davis
Great little gem! The camera & make-up man really liked Joan in this early 60's film. She looks quite beautiful and elegant. The cars are spectacular as well as her wardrobe. Cheers!!!
I saw the names of the actors/actresses and knew.... this was going to be a good movie. They(actors/actresses) back then knew how to choose roles. Something that a lot of them TODAY hasn't learned yet. Thanks for sharing 😊
Very good movie, from beginning to end. Top-notch acting, directing, writing...the whole nine yards. Diane Baker was strikingly beautiful; Ms. Crawford, elegant & poised, as always; and Paul Burk, so very handsome. On another note, there's just something about Joan Crawford and her physique, the way she walks, her posture, the way she carries herself, and even her style of dress that reminds me of the lovely Whitney Houston. Both so elegant & poised, legends in their own right. Thanks so much for this upload. Much appreciated!
"Now that was a rare gem of a movie. I wasn't aware it existed. Big Joan Crawford fan here! ❤"I'll never believe again that an hour and eight minutes isn't long enough to make a great movie." "As an actress, Joan Crawford is still one of the best, her facial expressions say it all. I love her movies." JOAN CRAWFORD IS ALWAYS ONE OUR THE BEST ACTRESSES OF ALL MOMENTS; EVERY JOAN CRAWFORD MOVIE IS RICH WITH ALL THAT SHE IS AS A BEING & ACTRESS!!! JOAN CRAWFORD NEVER MISSES A BEAT, SHE IS THE STANDARD FOR GREAT ACTING & GREAT ACTRESSES!!! WE LOVE HER FOREVER & EVER FOR GIVING US SO MUCH TO ENJOY IN HER MOVIES & PERFORMANCES. Her Entire Career is filled with Gems, The Greatest As Gems!!! We never saw a boaring Joan Crawford movie or boaring Joan Crawford performance. SHE IS FLAWLESS, SIMPLY THE BEST EVER - WE LOVE JOAN CRAWFORD - WHAT ANOTHER GREAT MOVIE & GREAT PERFORMANCE BY ONE THE GREATEST AS ALL MOMENTS, WOW!!! Whoever discovered Joan Crawford, THANK YOU, THANK YOU & THANK YOU FOREVER & EVER!!! WE LOVE JOAN CRAWFORD FOREVER!!! WE ARE SPELLED BOUND ALWAYS BY HER WORK & MOVIES!!!😀😀😀
Joan Crawford was one of the greatest movie stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood, well into the years that followed for many decades after the Studio System ended. A truly amazing career.
Always loved watching movies with Bickford & Carlson. Excellent actors...highly under-rated. This was when actual plots, scripts and trained actors existed. There are a few today, but not many! Watch Crawford in "Mildred Pierce"....an excellent example of Crawford's ability!
Well done film. Joan never lost her touch. In fact it seems to have become more nuanced as she continued throughout her career. It's always good to see Paul Burke and especially Charles Bickford with his great voice and narration. Very much enjoyed the c. 1963 automobiles.
No actress can show so much pride, elegance and selfconfidence on the screen like Joan Crawford did, she truly was a most beautiful lady, one of a kind
Never heard of this before. A good movie. Shows Joan Crawford how she liked and demanded to be seen. This was filmed almost immediately after the movie straight jacket. Again with Diane baker Joan must have liked her
Joan Crawford had perfect posture. She stood and seated herself without using her hands, just as my Mother (aged 72) still does. They must not be teaching that in finishing schools these days.
I only ever saw this movie on TV in 1974 when my brother and I got up really early for a long driving trip later that day! Elements of it have stayed in my memory ever since ! Haha!
She really is incredible. Thank you for the upload. I haven't watched Joan in anything for a long time and this is just what I needed. She was just superb!
I love Crawford movies , in this little known gem her beautiful coloring really stands out. Those huge gorgeous sapphire blue eyes! The jewels and classy wardrobe perfectly showcased her mature beauty. I wish she had done the kind of big soap operas like Lana Turner did in the late 50s-60s...those wonderful Sirk films. btw- Charles Bickford has been around since the early talkies. Greta Garbos 'talking' debut, 1930s, 'Anna Christie' had Bickford as her leading man. He was very effective as the gruff Dad in 1962s 'Days of Wine & Roses'.
Great movie. Crawford was one of the greatest actress ever. Diane Baker was excellent, saw her in Strait Jacket with Joan Crawford . Baker had a good teacher to show how it was done , and Crawford did an excellent job of it.👍👍👍❤
From my thinking, if this pilot was ever picked up to series, Joan wouldn’t have been in the series. She would just have been the guest star for the pilot, but the series would have followed Paul Burke and the law firm. I don’t see how Joan’s storyline could have continued, it seemed more the case of the week, which would be wrapped up in an hour and then onto the next the following episode. To me this is Joan’s last classic “Joan role.” No slumming it here. She is dressed to the nines, with furs and jewels and looks STUNNING throughout. Her hair looks fantastic. None of that strawberry blonde stuff and all those horrible tight up dos with face lifting braids like she had in Berserk. Joan’s not in a horror role, and she shows she still has it. Full of confidence and she commands the screen! Joan deserved more A list prestige roles later in her career.
Your thinking is correct. The series "Royal Bay" was never intended as a series for Joan, but rather a series about the four sons of Hugh Stafford (Charles Bickford's character) - with each week alternating between various story lines (à la "Route 66"). Joan was one of the producers of this pilot, and I think she saw this as an opportunity to ensure a regular income via television - but from behind the camera. Also, Joan had planned to make appearances throughout the series as a guest star, however, most likely not portraying the same character throughout.
The young boy with the sailboat is Keith Green. He was one of the most gifted and talented writers of Christian music. He passed away in 1982 at the age of 28 from a plane crash, along with two of his kids.
If you ever wondered how JC might have looked, her figure, an upscale wardrobe, mature, refined, and perfectly manicured and stunningly coiffed and in her uncompleted role in “Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte”, this movie gives us a wonderful glimpse. She would have been stellar in that role as it would have been in 1964- I believe-one year after this role. She would have looked like this, but as the HHSC role progressed, she would get into that maniacal character and be murdered in the end, crushed to death with her lover by Bette Davis. What a travesty she didn’t complete it. She may have at least been nominated for an Oscar-maybe even won it bc BD performance was pretty harsh and one dimensional throughout. JC role was more of an acting “tour de force” and might have caught the attention of the academy-especially if she also brought to the character this stunning look she had in this film.
Melodrama with a strange plot and a really good cast. Have always enjoyed Paul Burke, ditto for Diane Baker. Nice to see Charles Bickford - haven't seen him in decades. And great to see Joan Crawford as always.
If not the first great Hollywood icon from the Golden Age of Hollywood, who continued on for many decades after all the Studios were closed down. Few can compare to Joan Crawford and regardless of what is written that is a fact! Charles Bickford was also great in this series. He was in love with Della, and not the first secret in "Royal Bay".
A fine bit of melodrama. Worth it for Crawford's double-slap of the daughter! Had to watch that moment 4 times I enjoyed it that much! And boy does Crawford look fantastic in this! Thank you for uploading this small gem
There it is 37:15 Nobody could lay hands like Joan a nice double handed slap slap 👐🏼 Joan Crawfords hands were golden gloves in Hollywood 🙌🏼 we like how she slapped Vita's face in Mildred Pierce.
JOAN CRAWFORD became more beautiful as she got older.I think she also achieved a pinnacle of Stellar performances, THIS MOVIE BEING ONE ! She showed a range of different emotions ,with just her eyes alone ! 🎉
Fantastic. Joan Crawford is so elegant... beautiful...the fashions... everyone perfectly shaped. No obesity.... how the world has changed and not for the better....
I can picture Bette Davis watching this at home cursing like a trouper and throwing dishes at the wall mad at how beautiful Joan still was in her later years
I've been watching older movies since i was a young girl, the beautiful cloths, the beautiful hair styles, beautiful everything. The leading lady Joan Crawford was always at her BEST. Joan Crawford was an absolute treasure. Adore her acting, adore her perfances. ❤
Great movie! Joan Crawford also portrayed a loving, caring mother in the movie Mildred Pierce, where her daughter turns on her. Another great movie. Love that silver and gray chinchilla stole and suit. And those jewels 💎!!
Thanks for the upload. High quality as usual. Joans hair looks like when she was at the Academy Awards for Baby Jane. Keep'em coming my friend. You always have the best videos!!!!! A+++++++++++++++++++++++
There is no one like Joan Crawford. Beautifully dressed, full glamour, and acting that is Oscar-worthy. She deserved way better. Hollywood didn’t realize what they had!!!
I thought this movie was really good -- where has it been all my life? Interesting story, well acted and that salt and pepper hair looked GREAT on Joan, and the styles, too.
Joan went to her natural salt & pepper after Al Steele passed away. She kept the look for a couple of years before going back to her signature red hair.
I saw this one day, when I was being a couch potato. I already loved Joan's movies like Mildred Pierce, Sidden Fear, The Damned Don't Cry, Female on the Beach, Berserk, etc. This is a really great pilot for what was supposed to be a noght time soap. Too bad it never came about. Joan still looked FAB here! She definitely was the first in my opinion to defy age in Hollywood, naturally! Always talented and stunning. Too bad she passed away too soon, and did not gove us more wonderful movies and tv appearaces! Loved her diversity in acting. 😁
I hope these types of movies back, without violence, without graphical abusing, without sex, just a beautiful story, now hollywood movies are discusting, even comedy ones
As a actress Joan Crawford is still one of the best, her facial expressions says it all. I love her movies.

I think Joan grew into age more beautifully than most starlets
She was a "star" not a "starlet". Big difference.
agreed..she was stunning
Totally agree.
You really can't take your eyes off of her.
Joan is stunning. Beautiful and on fire 🔥 WOW
She seemed bigger than life but was just a little over 5 feet.tall.
Never knew this movie existed. What a gem! Joan was superb, I could tell exactly what her character was thinking by her body language and facial expression. Clothes, hair, jewelry, exquisite! Thank you for this upload.
Her jewelry and furs ~ stunning!
The scene where she explains to the young man and asks him to be with his daughter. And after he says no, you see her walking up the stairs, and the way she holds her body, you know exactly how the character feels. That is serious talent.
Joan is stunning in this movie. Her powerful, assertive presence alone makes this movie worth watching! Diane Baker is great too.
Diane Baker played a superb daughter to JC... TWICE!!! Joan mustve liked her and Diane mustve been brilliant at letting Joan be the Star... Bravo to her. Great film! ❤

Crawford is stunning as always. Diane Baker is breathtakingly beautiful too. Thank you for the upload. Best wishes from Iran.
Joan Crawford..the epitome of a MOVIE STAR ! None quite like her since !
Joan looked magnifent in her grey sheath dress, stole and her beautifully coiffed hair. I love the monochromatic look. Stunning!
Agreed!
Joan Crawford is a powerhouse of a actress. Her performances are always brilliant. Thank you for this viewing.
Great little gem! The camera & make-up man really liked Joan in this early 60's film. She looks quite beautiful and elegant. The cars are spectacular as well as her wardrobe. Cheers!!!
Joan! So polished, so poised! Her eyes speak volumes! Great cast, thanks for sharing.🎥💖
Joan Crawford was epic. They don't make movie stars like her anymore. ⭐️
I saw the names of the actors/actresses and knew.... this was going to be a good movie. They(actors/actresses) back then knew how to choose roles. Something that a lot of them TODAY hasn't learned yet. Thanks for sharing 😊
Somewhat slow at times, but a high quality classic film and Joan is an unforgetable actress. There's such an air of authority about her - wow!

Joan Crawford showed more in her body language walking up the stsirs towards the end than many actors do in an entire movie.

No one else could have done this crappy movie like Ms. Crawford. She made it worth watching to the end. ❤
This little gem popped upon my radar and I really enjoyed it. Joan Crawford is one of the best American actresses ever showcased and I am a huge fan.
No actress can show so much pride, elegance and selfconfidence on the screen like Joan Crawford did, she truly was a most beautiful lady, one of a kind
Agree 💯💯👍 beautiful Joan ❤️

stunningly elegant, the great Joan Crawford is more stunning at this age and still has her famous eyebrows
An exquisitely classy performance in this little gem of a film by Joan!
God broke the mould when he made Miss Joan Crawford; she was such a fine actor.💐This movie? - a treat.💐
What a great performance by Joan Crawford. She is as beautiful and powerful as ever, conveying so many feelings without a single word. Magnificent!
I only ever saw this movie on TV in 1974 when my brother and I got up really early for a long driving trip later that day! Elements of it have stayed in my memory ever since ! Haha!
Well i enjoyed this ..What a great twist it has ..Acting is very emotional in those days ..Unlike now ...Its very good ..
She really is incredible. Thank you for the upload. I haven't watched Joan in anything for a long time and this is just what I needed. She was just superb!
I ADORE Joan her talent is beyond the natural! She was MAGNIFICENT!
She was absolutely gorgeous. When color came to film, people all over the world got to see those beautiful blue eyes. Wow. 💕

Such a powerful actress , The clothes are the epitome of fashion for me ………….👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🌟👀👵🏽☮️🙏🏽❣️
This would've worked as a series in the 80s, like Dallas or Dynasty. Joan is outstanding here. She would've been great in Peyton Place.
Great movie. Crawford was one of the greatest actress ever. Diane Baker was excellent, saw her in Strait Jacket with Joan Crawford . Baker had a good teacher to show how it was done , and Crawford did an excellent job of it.👍👍👍❤
Wow! Excellent movie and Crawford was magnificent.
All those fabulous dresses and hair styles. Crawford looked wonderful

Joan had such presence. A true star!

I couldn't agree with you more!!! ❤
I wish this became a weekly TV nighttime soap, like the DYNASTY or DALLAS of the 1960s!
These soap opera movies are always fun to watch 😊
I LOVE Ms Crawford, she was an excellent actress and made this film awesome to watch
Miss Crawford was so elegant in her posture and her walk. Such class!
Mrs. Crawford, superb as always... first class actress, stunning at every age.
Wow-Crawford is really quite elegant looking in this!
Melodrama with a strange plot and a really good cast. Have always enjoyed Paul Burke, ditto for Diane Baker. Nice to see Charles Bickford - haven't seen him in decades. And great to see Joan Crawford as always.
Interesting Movie! The daughter was in Hitchcock’s Marnie, great acting by Joan Crawford!
As she was in all her films; Miss Crawford was awesome 🏆🍷🍾🍷🏆
Excellent movie! Paul Burke very handsome. When listening to the music, it sounded like The Way We Were, then it would wonder off. Love Joan Crawford!
Classic Crawford. A wonderful lesson in acting from one of the greats.
If not the first great Hollywood icon from the Golden Age of Hollywood, who continued on for many decades after all the Studios were closed down. She is wonderful
Note the tear stains on her dress at 1:01:55.
Genuine tears! Not many can do that on command for a camera.
oh i LOVE THE GORGEOUS GLAMOROUS RICH LAVISH FURNISHED houses and the pretty clothes and stunning jewelry!!!
Joan was one beautiful older lady…gorgeous flawless face and body…no fillers, botox, stretching…just natural beauty.
They could have gone out at night, the theater, dinner, dancing. No need to be a shut in. Joan looked great in this, by the way.
Fantastic film and Joan looked FABULOUS!
Wow at her wardrobe, jewellery, make-up, hair and the fine acting!
beautiful clothes and so relevant today. Thank you
A fine bit of melodrama. Worth it for Crawford's double-slap of the daughter! Had to watch that moment 4 times I enjoyed it that much!
And boy does Crawford look fantastic in this!
Thank you for uploading this small gem
Well, i didn't know about this either.... Classic Nice!!!💖
Amazing! I didn’t even know this film existed. Joan looks amazing.
Joan looking gorgeous as usual. The camera loved her.
Joan looks stunning with silver hair and her blue eyes. She reminds me of Lady Tremaine, Cinderella’s Stepmother.
I am liking Joan more and more! She looked regale when she walked down that staircase! Great movie!
I'll never think again that an hour and eight minutes isn't long enough to make a great movie.
Joan Crawford is a Legend!! I’m 47 and I enjoy her movies!! As well as other classics!
I can picture Bette Davis watching this at home cursing like a trouper and throwing dishes at the wall mad at how beautiful Joan still was in her later years
Davis was jealous of other actresses’ looks, even her good friend Olivia deHavilland
❤❤❤❤❤
I've been watching older movies since i was a young girl, the beautiful cloths, the beautiful hair styles, beautiful everything. The leading lady Joan Crawford was always at her BEST. Joan Crawford was an absolute treasure. Adore her acting, adore her perfances. ❤
WOW! A rare obscure video and what a great actress! Great role..Great movie!
Great movie! Joan Crawford also portrayed a loving, caring mother in the movie Mildred Pierce, where her daughter turns on her. Another great movie. Love that silver and gray chinchilla stole and suit. And those jewels 💎!!
Wouldn't Joan have been wonderful on Dynasty as Alexis's mama?
Thanks for the upload. High quality as usual. Joans hair looks like when she was at the Academy Awards for Baby Jane. Keep'em coming my friend. You always have the best videos!!!!! A+++++++++++++++++++++++
There is no one like Joan Crawford. Beautifully dressed, full glamour, and acting that is Oscar-worthy. She deserved way better. Hollywood didn’t realize what they had!!!
I love you Bryan. You know I do. Thank you for this.
It's rare to see Joan in colour.
Such intense BLUE eyes !
I thought this movie was really good -- where has it been all my life? Interesting story, well acted and that salt and pepper hair looked GREAT on Joan, and the styles, too.
Joan went to her natural salt & pepper after Al Steele passed away. She kept the look for a couple of years before going back to her signature red hair.
joan looking very good !!!! live her movies
Excellent movie; thank you for uploading!
I didn’t remember this (well I was five). I so enjoyed watching. Thank you for uploading.
What an incredible 1961 Thunderbird, lilac or whatever they called the color.
It's a 1963 Thunderbird the same year as a movie they would not use used Thunderbird it was a brand new one in 1963
warren wilson They don't make 'em like that any more...cars today are plain and ugly...
Back and white movies never showed her beautiful blue eyes . Greatest actress ever
Joan Crawford still a fine actress to watch.
She was from the very first day she went on contract with MGM and all through the later decades working for just about everybody in Hollywood.
Agreed! Joan Crawford is our favorite actress of all time
I saw this one day, when I was being a couch potato. I already loved Joan's movies like Mildred Pierce, Sidden Fear, The Damned Don't Cry, Female on the Beach, Berserk, etc. This is a really great pilot for what was supposed to be a noght time soap. She was a great actress ..her birthday was day after mine ..bless her.
