The scene when they were fighting is like the scene where Superman punch Zod when Zod was threatening her mother in Man Of Steel movie. Love how they take inspiration from Zack Snyder's style.
So George Newbern went from Justice League Superman to Sephiroth to Injustice. Now Tyler has followed the same path if that is supposed to be Injustice Superman. Just a funny coincidence.
A Luthor is a Luthor is a Luthor. The intentions are the same even if the motivations are different. But wanting to destroy Superman out of fear of what could happen isn't as good a reason as being jealous of his power. It would be nice if this Luthor was different and not a sociopath; just a soldier with trauma of a world under siege from a "Homelander" Kal-El.
It would be awesome if the boys were only able to use their powers with each other and if because of how different they are they help balance each other out.
Good episode imo. I think the family dynamics still seem to be done well imo (I’m always cautious about the teen stuff but it seems relatively well done and compelling so far for the most part). Not only did Crisis make Morgan Edge a different actor but it made him British too lol...I actually was engaged in Lois’s investigation into him and am looking forward to him being her nemesis for the season like “Captain Luthor” is for Clark. The Captain Luthor stuff is really intriguing me...he was a soldier that blames his version of Superman who was evil for destroying his planet as was as killing his fellow soldiers , one of which was Sam Lane. I wonder what happened because they seemed to have the “S” symbol on his dog tags which makes me think that his Superman was originally a hero and worked with them but something happened that made him break (possibly the death of his family?). Anyway , if I had one negative about the episode...it’s that I’m not feeling Angus McFadyen’s Jor-El right now but maybe that could change in the future.
The most interesting stuff is the Luthor backstory for me so far. I agree with the casting for Jor-El, he's a really good actor but doesn't fit this role. You need someone like Russel Crowe, Terrence Stamp and Marlon Brando as Jor-El. He doesn't feel majestic or charismatic enough, plus his voice doesn't pull me in.
I dont want this to cross over with the Arrowverse at all. It's so far removed from the Superman we saw before in Supergirl- and i'm happy that the quality is better than anything Supergirl did.
@@Laurica-lb6nv It does if you've never seen Arrow, Flash, or Supergirl. I liked that this show was a fresh start to the Superman mythos. I don't want to have to catch up on 10 years of bad CW shows to know what's happening in this one.
The tease at end of cross over whileago was the monkey which was the tease for the Wonder Twins I am thinking these boys Clarks sons are going to be the Wonder Twins and this is just a different twist of that
Great follow up ep to the pilot. Genuine issues, not forced like some typical young adult type shows can do. Very good mix between the home life stuff and the villain threat. 13:50- am thinking the same thing. That they have to be together kinda of like anti-Hancock. Not sure I like that but we’ll see how it plays out. 6:20- GREAT job Eric placing Angus (Robert the Bruce). Couldn’t for the life of me remember why he looks familiar.
In terms of Jordan’s powers he did say that he felt control. So maybe it activates either based on emotion like saving his brother or maybe it’s because he was with his brother either way I feel like the two brothers will explore and understand their abilities together.
In my view, lying almost always does the worst damage. It completely erodes trust long term and no relationship can last without it. He was right to tell them.
I wonder if he's from Earth-15. That was the earth that Superman had completely destroyed and where Cisco had vibed Neil Borman, aka Fallout because it was completely uninhabited. That was before Crisis.
Luthor says Kal-El is a villain who will destroy Earth in the future but to escape, Luthor exploits the fact, known to him, that Superman will save people at the expense of his own safety. If Superman is good today but will *become* evil why hate him today? Killing him? Sure, that could make sense if you're that certain of the future. If I went back in time would I kill baby Hitler? Maybe. But I wouldnt burn him with cigarettes or shake him and yell "You suck baby Hitler! I hate you!" That would be insane. Luthor obviously knows Superman is good today but still abuses and tortures him and demands he feel guilty for things he has never done. Conclusion: this Luthor is, like most Luthors, a very bad person.
He probably assumes that superman WILL turn evil just like he did on his earth. From what I can tell I think his earth’s superman went through something akin to injustice’s superman and went bad. Captain Luthor assumes the same is inevitable for this earth’s superman and, likely due to his own failings on his earth, has taken an ends justify the means approach. He will kill whoever he needs to in order to prevent superman from killing everyone on earth. And it doesn’t matter to him if superman is good now, he thinks he’ll always end up turning bad later. Taking advantage of his current goodness is simply another way to help ensure his victory.
Very cool seeing Jor-El. Clark wasn't telling the boys to behave he was talking to Lois haha. Ohman evil Superman. Captain Luther might try to recruit Sam Lane. Having 13 episodes and this budget is best.
Jordan protected Jonathan from the falling pipes, other than Jonathan breaking that rope with the football there is no indication that he has powers. With Jordan it seems more likely that his powers activate under extreme emotional stimulation and has spent so much time under medications and being told to control his emotions he may be subconsciously tamping down his powers. I would also like it if Jonathan got powers but only if they make it fit in a way that makes sense.
It’s weird how non-Talbot Morgan Edge is in this. Not just recast, a totally different person. Also redesigned Superman pod, not in a museum, etc. So much stuff we’ve seen in Supergirl did not transfer over to this show, except for Clark and Lois
What would be cool is that since they are twins the powers are split. So they both have strength but instead of 100% superman strength they both develop like 50/50 and one gets heat vision but the other gets freeze breath, one X-ray vision but the other super hearing. Causing them to have to team up to make a whole superman and fight together.
But we also gotta Dark Superman in the Arrow Verse, Dark Superman , everything in this show including supporting actors and actresses visuals , and Story thanks for reviewing.
I feel like the twins need each other to make their powers work, but they will have some thing in the fortress where they both get Gene mods to to be able to access all of their powers separately.
This might be a bit of a stretch but Jonathan mentions he's never been to school without Jordan and then the first time he does he suddenly not good at football, which could fit into the whole "they have to be together for their powers to work". Although that may just be Sarah's boyfriend and his friends messing with him.

Angus was also in a couple Saw movies.. that's how I recognized him.
2 episodes in and I'm loving this!
37:17 i literally got up and fetched my old calculator and brushed the dust off it just to type the number and flip it before i resumed the vid 🤣🤣
Angus Macfadyen who played Robert the Bruce in Braveheart and also the movie Robert the Bruce in 2019 is playing Jor El.
I waited all day for this
so far it is a solid show S&L, hope it continues this way
Erik is right, i would be happy too, just watching the kents being wholesome.
I think in later seasons they might give Jonathan powers too or something like that. That would be cool!
If it wasn't for all the AM stuff, I got to believe the reporter would be named Chloe. Damn reality.
I think it might be Superman Prime
A Luthor is a Luthor is a Luthor. The intentions are the same even if the motivations are different. But wanting to destroy Superman out of fear of what could happen isn't as good a reason as being jealous of his power. It would be nice if this Luthor was different and not a sociopath; just a soldier with trauma of a world under siege from a "Homelander" Kal-El.
That "hululululu" reminded me of my ringtone a long time ago. It was just a guy saying hululululu repeatedly. Fun times in the lecture hall.
The show is going on a two-month hiatus after episode 5 due to COVID. The first 7 episodes of Supergirl's final season will air in it's place.
It would be awesome if the boys were only able to use their powers with each other and if because of how different they are they help balance each other out.
i’m watching along with you guys and i’m digging this
Wonder Twins unite!! form of brotherly love.
Whoa hold up I didn't even think about the fact that Jordan has only shown powers when he's near Jonathan... holy crap!
Yup that is Robert the Bruce. Great call out.
I love this show! Excited for something new to watch!
been waiting for this, thanks for the reaction
I'm with Eric, as soon as that BBQ is ready its time to eat!
I dont want this to cross over with the Arrowverse at all. It's so far removed from the Superman we saw before in Supergirl- and i'm happy that the quality is better than anything Supergirl did.
A crossover won't ruin the show.
A crossover doesn’t ruin a quality
@@Laurica-lb6nv It does if you've never seen Arrow, Flash, or Supergirl. I liked that this show was a fresh start to the Superman mythos. I don't want to have to catch up on 10 years of bad CW shows to know what's happening in this one.
@@blueskybelyr oh I see what you mean like seeing the show in a different quality in the other show
Lois wasted a lot of paper just to write I Quit 😂
The tease at end of cross over whileago was the monkey which was the tease for the Wonder Twins I am thinking these boys Clarks sons are going to be the Wonder Twins and this is just a different twist of that
I wouldn't mind to see some cameos from Smallville!
So maybe it activates either based on emotion like saving his brother or maybe it’s because he was with his brother either way I feel like the two brothers will explore and understand their abilities together.
he's not a 'Good guy Luthor', He's more like the 'Doom Guy Luthor'
both together, never even thought of that! good call.
I thought maybe the bomb was a test to see if he would want answers more than wanting to save people. But a distraction works too.
Jor-El: "Careful, Batman. You're treading on my dreams."
Love this show! It is a shock how good it is since I'm not a fan of anything cw...but DAMN!!
Love the vids keep up the great work fellas
that tire swing likely went through at least 3 generations of kent families. It was more then likely frayed to hell.
I had the same exact theory of how the twins abilities work
Aaron: Spider-man got Mary Jane
Eric on his mind: FUCK, HE GOT ME THERE
It’s weird how non-Talbot Morgan Edge is in this. Not just recast, a totally different person. Also redesigned Superman pod, not in a museum, etc. So much stuff we’ve seen in Supergirl did not transfer over to this show, except for Clark and Lois
"Isn't it Infinity Aaron" Talking about Superman Strength
Man Death Battle still triggers me today from Goku vs Superman
Yes, Jor-El is Robert the Bruce
13:37 The Wonder Twins? Lol
How cute of Eric to get annoyed over some barbecue lol 😁😊
To quote the old man on the bench with the dwarf from Family Guy "WHERES THE REST OF YA?"
Jor-el character I believe is main villain in Chuck season 5!!
Holy shit, Superman's dad is Robert Rogers.
This might be a bit of a stretch but Jonathan mentions he's never been to school without Jordan and then the first time he does he suddenly not good at football, which could fit into the whole "they have to be together for their powers to work". Although that may just be Sarah's boyfriend and his friends messing with him.
Maybe Alexander Luther... Setting up Infinite Crisis?
Holy Cow! I didn't recognize Jor-El either. That IS Robert the Bruce from Braveheart.
