  • Man I love being up here at this house. We went for a short but nasty mountain bike ride in Unicoi Park. Then I wanted to get the Cayman GTS ready to sell back to Porsche Wilmington. They are picking it up next week.

When changing suspension pressure, make sure you cycle the fork/shock after changing the pressure to equalize the positive and negative airspring, then add/remove air, cycle the suspension, rinse repeat until when you cycle the suspension the pressure returns to desired.

Mike, just observing from Matt's rear view cam...as a suggestion, on the climbs, let your seat up so you can sit and peddle....on the downhill, drop your seat to allow the bike move under you. On the downhill in north Georgia/ Carolina you should be applying brake pressure from both the front and rear....use the rear to control you and front to slow you....

As a bike shop tech I love seeing the mtb content. One tip with the suspension setup is 16% sag for a fork is way too little, at least in my opinion. I usually recommend 25%-27%, as you want your fork and shock balanced, otherwise you are gonna blow through shock travel relative to your fork. Of course that’s just my opinion which works for my riding style and it all comes down to rider preference.

Great video! Using the factory suspension setup tutorial was smart to start. Using the analog gauge for pressures will likely not be accurate. Keep checking sag and alter the pressure up/down until you hit the sag value you want/need. Don't worry about getting on there bike gently when checking sag. It's OK to bounce a little to overcome the "stiction" of the seals so the bike settles into its actual travel and you get a more accurate sag reading. You we correct to get off of the bike gently to maintain the accurate reading.

This is what happens when you ride mid travel bikes on a XC trail haha, I had to learn the hard way myself. Bikes are similar to tools where there is always a specialized application to get the job done. I personally think a carbon hard tail or smaller travel bike would much better suit your riding style/goals, but that’s just my two cents. Who knows Matty could be a shredder and im completely wrong. But from a pure exercise standpoint there is much more satisfying options than fighting your bike geometry.

I’ve got two people at work that bought a bronco and unfortunately there’s situations they will never buy another bronco again, but maybe that type of car would fit Helen? And been it’s out for a while now, so I’m hoping Ford has ironed out its issues. However we have a F150 work truck that has the transmission recall where the transmission can downshift at any speed to first I’m having a mobile tech come out Tuesday to the winery and reprogram the recall, it just seems like all these manufactures are trying to fix things software based and maybe that works not sure we’ll see….

I appreciate your honesty. Actually I'm wired somewhat differently too. Money has never been a motivator in my life. My wife and I are very comfortable financially.which is obviously very nice.
Having said that, we live a fairly frugal lifestyle. I started watching your channel when you were into your S2000. I own one also. I'm 72 years old and to me what's important is health and our travel adventures.

Control your breathing during intense anaerobic activity. Monitoring your breathing allows you to avoid the red zone, which you should view as a delicious APR which your body tacks on to the debt your body owes, in which your body begins to metabolize glucose, which must be repaid before providing oxygen to your muscles. Avoiding red zone activity reduces your recovery time to seconds, ensuring you continue to perform optimally...

You might lose a spring at Helen with that garage door. I think Mike only gave it one or two revolutions more but it looks like from what I can see all the indicator marks are lined up, so it’s under a lot of tension….. you might have to jump to a different spring type for that door…

A lighter and nimbler XC or downcountry bike would be the best option instead of the big heavy enduros you're riding. Those are just making your climbs unnecessarily hard and not using half the suspension they have on the descends.
