OG Drying Aid - The Best Drying Aid For Your Car

- Well this is it. Just buy it. It's noticeably better and easier to apply than Beadmaker.
As I made improvements to my car drying process, I began to realize with some of the other drying aid solutions, unless the conditions were close to perfect, I would experience spotting. This isn’t something that’s insurmountable, but certainly not ideal.
Now, fast-forward to the Obsessed Garage Drying Aid that was brought to my attention from someone in our community and I’m glad it was. What I love most about this product is the slickness of it as well as the gloss it leaves on the paint. You’ll see a deep shine with no by-products left behind. It'll work on wax, coatings, trim, and glass - it pretty much works on anything. This is ideal for me because I want to use it on as many surfaces as possible.

I've been lurking the channel for the past few months, trying to prep myself for taking care of my first "nice" car. For someone brand new to detailing and having a halfway decent car, I'm really glad you put your detail process in this video, even if you've shown it a million times. Love all the content and your way of doing things.
Hello Matt, subscriber from UK here. Your content is excellent, full of practical advice and passion. Your process makes so much sense, especially the removal of bugs deposits during the drying stage - less is more and don't overthink it. The fact that you are not constantly layering your clear coat with multiple products is another reason why your cars always look stunning. Great work, all the best.
"What are you huffing drying aid for?!" , Matt exclaimed whilst downing a gallon of GSF
Thank you for not putting unnecessary crap in there just because kids grow up on Gushers. As you mentioned it’s only making the product less affective and ppl can suck it up for the 5 minutes they use it.
One of the best produced videos in a while, loving the progress.
I can't even begin to comprehend just how grumpy I would be if you happened to remove the scent of the OG Tire Dressing. That is a god-tier scent.
I'm looking forward to trying out OG Drying Aid.
The tire dressing does smell good. You will enjoy the OG drying aid
Maybe you should review it 🤔 it’s been a while?
8 months
The best addition to my wash process has to be adding a drying aid. It was hard for a noob like me to understand when I first started like why would spraying something on my car help me dry it. Well obviously it's not to help you dry the car it's to help minimize scratches and marring. It's lubrication for your drying towel. Hard concept for a beginner to understand but as soon as I grasped it I never went back lol now 3 years into my love for detailing it's still my favorite part about washing my car
The edge of protective film loves to absorb the dies from drying aids.
This stuff is pretty good. Did not want to believe it sitting on a bottle through 2 washes. Finally used today after a n-914 RW. Super slick .. compared to BM the slickness is instant. Seems BM take time to cure before the slickness comes on. This makes the user experience much better.
The b-roll in the middle looks so good. Well produced video guys. I have been using this since the first batch and it is amazing. I already need more.
The beading with BM is amazing and last much longer than a couple weeks. My daily driver sits outside all the time and gets washed every couple weeks if not once a month. It couldn't be easier to use and I haven't seen 1 reason to not use it. Not sure why all of a sudden BM is supposedly a terrible product to all these guys. Matt talks about it flashing and needing to be wiped multiple times to remove yet he uses 2 towels to remove his drying aid. I'm sure there's no money to be made selling a $20 gallon product.
@RICARDO bm lasts weeks for me as well 🤷
Wilson auto detailing did a comparo between beadmaker and meguiars hybrid ceramic wax and beadmaker won. They both last over two months.....I think you can still find that video
What is BM?
Oh, bead maker
Same. All of a sudden Matt comes out with a new product, which he’s said is essentially just Slipstream and everyone suddenly hates BM. I get three SOLID weeks out of BM and I’ve got no dusting issues.
“Waffle weave towels are the best sweat wipe towels” Best Obsessed Garage tip yet. I will be adding to my gym bag. Keep up the good work Matt!
I'm getting this new product. ASAP. I've been watching this channel for years. He's 💯 right. You don't need scents, or dyes, extra chemicals can make the product more un-stable ,or cause issues.
My new favorite phrase from Matt: “ Bug Jerky”
I just bought a gallon. I'm very excited to try it out. Thanks for the e mail notification letting Me know the gallon sized bottle is back in stock.
You immediately see things very big! Rightly so! After Matt's very critical view of things, we can only say that you will enjoy the use and the result! Don't forget to post YOUR findings.
Enjoy!
@@TheCeki1982 Matt has a good handle on this stuff! I trust His findings implicitly! I'll certainly report back. There are a few cars that have recently been polished and coated I'll be trying it on! If Matt says it is good , it's good!
@@J1Z06 The proof and undeniably, an obsession also has its benefits. Of which this is the result, a man with a plan! Unfortunately this would cost me $152.52 to ship a gallon to my current hometown - Europe. So I'm going to stick with Bead Maker and/or Megs Ceramic Detailer. Take care.
Just ordered a gallon this morning! Good timing on the vid!
Right ? Same day as they're in stock, the video drops. Very clever!
He is my OG drying aid story. I bought some during the last giveaway. I have two gallons of the “other stuff” so I haven’t tried it., I got so tired of the other stuff attracting dust, I pulled out the OG drying aid. I was missing out. Very easy to use, great results. So far I hav not had any issues with dust, streaks ect. Going to order more,
Will be ordering this now. Out of curiosity when will the stub nose attachment for the blower be in/or available. When I heard you were making one I was thrilled!
Pre-order starts tomorrow.
You can 3D print one for pretty cheap. Files are available. Woo hoo!

Man buying car products is like an addiction you just can't stop buying more.
I prefer it smelling good than a vinegar smell vinegar smell should be in a salad n I haven’t had any issues with stability issues Matt
That paint color is beautiful. Guess I'll have to try your drying aid instead of Chemical Guys After Wash. I can hear you now Matt... that stuff is trash!
Like the different angles in the fliming. Looking forward to trying the drying aid.
It does also stain microfiber towels when sprayed directly to them
I feel like the industry is missing something here and I think there seems to be cross confusion with drying aids and QDs.
Drying Aid should be used as a surface lubricant during the drying process. Removing water within your towel. Essentially spraying this on the car while it’s wet… This should help the towel to glide across the surface and absorb water… that would be the whole point of a drying aid. A QD would be what you would want to use after your car is dry to provide lubrication and gloss as a sacrificial layer to whatever is already on the panel.
I have yet to see anyone properly lubricate the panel while it’s wet and use proper drying methods with a towel first to remove water.
I think the key here is to develop a product that you can spray on the car while it’s wet and wipe and walk away and leave a perfect 100% dry non-streak finish. That’s the dream!
I could be wrong, that's what GYEON Wet Coat does (I use it). You spray it on while the car [panel] is completely wet and then rinse it off. Dry off you car [panel] as usual. It leaves behind a slick, hydrophobic sacrificial layer that lasts weeks. The only thing it does not do is get rid of heavy water spots like on windows.
It is good stuff. Waiting for my gallon order.
As far as the Tesla staining, wouldn’t that just mean you used too much? Shouldnt be running down into and passed the trim.
GREAT VIDEO ON SHOWING APPLICATION OF PRODUCT. Most product videos are incomplete in that they showing you applying product to paint but not other surfaces like glass and plastic. Been looking for a product I could use on whole car. I have a RAV4 which is half metal and half plastic. I have called other manufactures like Meguriers and they say their products wont harm other surfaces but are not made for them. That leaves me with 1/2 an answer and looking for for other products.
Can't wait to see how this compares to the tried and true SiO2 products to warrant switching
Can you send a bottle to Hawaii Tesla & Detailing, I want to see him put it to the test!
Or he could just buy it like everyone else
@@LSD04 I’m sure he will if he wants it, just a suggestion.
Seems so slick. Nice one Matt
Just ordered mine to try out
Just ordered a bottle. J C , your car looks like glass , sweet.
First of all, I know I’m a little late in regards to when this video came out LOL…
But if I may, I’d like to say that I’d love to try this product, however, the shipping is costing $17!!! I’m sorry, but that’s too close to actual cost of the item ($25). With all due respect, can’t do it, can’t recommend it, bummed out that I don’t agree paying that much, and bummed out that I won’t be able to give you a shot on this product.
Best Regards,

Matt is such a baby.
I can officially say OG has AiDS
It is great. I enjoy using it.
Just got my first order excited to use bead maker for the first time. Now on to drying aide I suppose 🤙🏻
Matt thanks for the video, have a question, when doing maintenance washes on a ceramic coat, should any drying aid be used? One with ‘ceramic’ in it, or just a simple lubricating one like OG/diluted rinseless washes. I am wondering because, if I use a drying aid, will it affect the maintenance or topper that I will subsequently put on top, such as cure, cosmic spritz etc? Thanks again
Glad to see this, Matts passion for beadmaker felt a little behind the times
I'm wondering if I can mix this with distilled water in my MJJC Pro to rinse, blow dry, then final wipe?
No, I don’t think it’s diluting would work.
Matt. To reduce over spray problems can you spray it on the towel then apply on the car?
Matt that mic is so close to your mouth we hear every breath you take… excited to try the product
Definitely haven’t got a vinegar scent that would probably be a deal breaker for me lol, just smells like other Sio2 sprays like C2v3 and some other ceramic detailers. In my opinion they’re all pretty similar if they’re from a high quality brand but this is pretty damn good.
Just did a fresh polish and coat of Csl and exo on my e46 and used this after the first wash and man was it nice.
I’m curious about diluting it, I like diluting C2v3 1to1 sometimes even more seems to work a little easier as a drying aid and if this dilutes as good as C2v3 then it’ll be an even better value than it already is.
Forgive my ignorance, but do you have high pressure demineralised water available? If so, I'm wondering whether simply pressure-rinsing, and then drying very gently without the drying aid, might be a bit quicker. Maybe some areas wouldn't need to be dried at all. You'd forgo the short lived sacrificial layer though.
I wonder whether it would be possible to create a drying aid that, if left to dry on the surface, completely evaporated, leaving nothing at all? I have heard of "vanishing oils" - oils that evaporate completely. I think that's the kind of product I'd be more interested in.
Great video demonstration. London, UK calling. I really like the look of your product and the poetry in motion of the application to that gorgeous car. I am enjoying my amateur detailing and pampering of my new Red/White Model Y LR ( if I had a garage, it would be obsessed) she has front end PPF ( not something you are fond of) to and including the endless "A" pillar and Crystal Serum finished with EXOv4 to the rest of her.
So, two questions please. 1) Is OG safe for use on the PPF? You use it over ceramic so no problem there. 2) Is there any chance of getting it to/at London without the humongous shipping cost from the USA?
Sadly, as with many interesting N. American products, OG is not available here. Understandable, I guess, with the size of your home market. Anyway, excellent work, All the best.
Yes, we are working on getting it there through another distributor.
And yes, fully safe for PPF.
Does your drying aid need to cure before getting wet. Will it spot like bead maker?
No, it can get wet right away.
Thanks. I am just wondering if I can wax my car right after washing & drying by applying dry aid spray? Does drying aid spray prevent waxing car in right way?
Very slick stuff. A little goes a long way.
I find beadmaker to attract a lot of dust after a few days and want to make a change. Can anyone tell me how OG compares to dusting versus BM after a few days? BM looks great but have never used something that attracts as much dust as it does.
Also when I bought my car I took it some where and had a 5+ year coating added and I wish I hadn't. I really wish I would have went with a year coating.
Temporary labels? Those look nice though
Anti static properties?
Looks amazing 👏 😍 👌
Late to the party as usual. Question is; we are coming out of winter here in NH. If I’m going to put a coating on the truck, should I not use this as it applies a minor amount of SiO2? I’m assuming the aid will affect the coating bonding to the clear?
Correct. After you decon the truck, you won't want to add anything prior to polishing. Use this after you have the car coated.
Can I skip the leaf blower part ? And go straight drying aid after wash with a drying towel ?
If one uses a leaf blower as you do, or a master blaster as many do, where does a drying aid come into play please!
In many cases, blow-drying forces soap out of the crevices that will eventually need to be towel wiped. Also depending on how healthy the base coating is, the air blower is often not enough to 100% eject all of the water off the surface. And if you're washing in any environment that's not enclosed or out of the sun and doing so with hard water, this can lead to partially dried spotting/soap residue that needs to be addressed by wiping. Any time you're dealing with contamination like this, it's beneficial to have that lubricated aid to help clean these areas up after the wash, and the additional benefit is you help maintain the healthiness of the base coating at the same time, prolonging slickness and gloss.
@@WaxMode excellent explanation. Ty.
Blower is for getting the bulk (not all) water off, then you come back with a towel to finish.
Love the label actually

Let's learn about this new product.
Yes, those are great sprayers.
Can this product be used on a waxed car? Or is this more suited for ceramic coating? Thanks!
Doesn't sio2 clog up these twisted loop towels
It will. It's necessary to wash with Rags to Riches to help get it out.
Interesting it seems as if you are applying a drying aid to protect the car before using the drying towel (the purpose of using a drying aid) and the wiping the car with a different totally dry towel. Does that defeat the purposed of using the drying aid to start with?
Once we are absolutely certain the surface is clean with the initial wipe, the follow towel can be used without risk.
Anyway to make shipping costs more affordable? Want to purchase a bottle but shipping is costing me over $18...almost cost of the bottle itself. Trying to ship over to so-cal...
You'd need to buy more stuff. Shipping costs are insane when buying one item.
I might not get all the high gloss benefits on my white Tesla but I might want to try this stuff out.. Honest question since I come from a Griots Garage and GYEON world - how does OG Drying Aid compare to GG Ceramic Speed Shine and GYEON Wet Coat? I like both products but the only pain point after my washes is I have water spotting on windows and trim.
Speed Shine is a detail spray and Wet Coat is not great at much. Wet Coat doesn't do much for me other than bead water. This makes the car look a little deep and glossier.
If the surface is coated, I wouldn't have thought a drying aid would be necessary.
A drying aid is used as lubrication to not marr when towel drying.
So is this pretty much a stripped down version of beadmaker without all the fluff?
I tried to ask during the quick instagram vid. How does the large container remain stirred up from all the ingredients settling to the bottom?
Even if they settle just shake it? You’re supposed to shake most chemical sprays and such fir cleaning anyways lol
We mix is with a drill.
@@SSSandhu13 no in the large container before bottling?
@@ObsessedGarage We use a pneumatic mixer for totes and drums. It has three collapsible blades than fit through a bung-sized opening and the thread pattern matches the opening. We agitate while bottling from totes.
How is the shine compare to Beadmaker?
Iam glassparency drying aid booster fan smells great n does a better job in my opinion than bead maker I’ve have both n my go to now is glassparency drying aid booster

How does this compare to ONR as a drying aid
P.S. How wet can the car be when apply OG Drying Aid: I don't use an air blower just top end towels both super thick and thin for second pass.
It can be fully wet. You'd just want to use more product since the additional water would dilute the product.
@@ObsessedGarage Thank you very much for your responses. Looking forward to using it one day when it's available to me.
I noticed when I use drying aids, my towels tend to not absorb as much even after a wash, do you have any tips for this?
You need to be using Rags to Riches from P&S. It's formulated to attach modern sealants.
Got mine last week ... love it!
How is it with hardwater and 100 degree weather ? -Idaho
How's it work on matte paint?
I’d like to get a sample! I am currently using Adams detail spray have been more than happy with the results!
Keep using detail spray. Very inexpensive. I use griots speed shine from advanced auto parts for $7 for 32 oz
If it’s Adams Slick and Slide you’re currently using, it’s basically the same thing.
You’re going to have to buy it. OG doesn’t do free samples.
What is a good way to deal with those drying spots after using like bead maker after washing?
Spray bead maker directly on the towel and go over the spots followed immediately by a drying towel.
What coating did you use Matt ?
Looks like a great product. I really need to start using a drying aid. Cringe when I towel dry cars. 😬
After applying the drying aid can I apply a sealer, wax, etc.?
I wouldn't do that, but you probably could.
@@ObsessedGarage ok. Thanks. Great channel!
My question is does this inhibit the hydrophobics of the underlying ceramic coating like bead maker did. Car Craft Auto Detailing did a fantastic video showing how horrendous bead maker was if you had a good ceramic. I don’t want that happening again.
That's not what I experience in the real world. That was a long time ago. The product likely froze in transit.
It's a quick detailer. Spray wax. Etc. Where did "drying aid" come from?
Designed as a topper for your coating/wax/sealants but can also be used as a drying aid.
It's not a detailer because it doesn't contain surfactants. There's no cleaning ability. Lube and topper only.
will the SiO2 clog up towels ?
It will. You want to wash with Rags to Riches from P&S to attack it.
Most expensive drying aid. $25 for 32 oZ . I'm keep using beadmaker and my details spray.
a 32oz bottle of BeadMaker is $21.99....$3 more for a better product sounds like a heck of a deal to me.
@@HazerdSkills I use detail spray for drying aid. $7 for 32 oz bottle. I guess not. U also know beadmaker is not drying aid. It's spray sealant. Using beadmaker as drying aid is less affective.
1 gallon of OG drying aid is $50 plus shipping whereas bead maker is 35 from Amazon. If you are having dust and smearing issues with bead maker, it may make sense. At the end of the day, Matt has to make some money from doing all of this and it’s not like he has the economies of scale working for him here unlike those large businesses. Plus, he’s never really been the one to go for the cheapest viable option. OG is about what he uses in his routine. It may not be for you or even for me but I’m glad he is providing great options for folks out there, especially those who may be facing challenges with bead maker
@@moneyparhar you want OG spec at chemical guys price. Not going to happen anytime soon.

You mentioned that Adams is now owned by a Canadian company. I'm new to the whole detailing scene, so I'm probably the last guy to know this - but is Adams Polishes no longer owned by Adam Pitale?
Adam sold the company. I don't know, but I'd assume he has a certain number of contractural years of which he would stay involved.

What's better about this than d156?
The difference is D156 is a polymer spray wax with a hint of carnauba where as this is SiO2 based.
D156 is great and I used that back in the day wen I was using waxes and sealants. Moved to coatings and ceramic infused spray sealants designed for coatings.
@@MikeGDetailing I don't have experience with ceramics (not because I'm old school, but because I'm a young kid who hasn't spent much money on detailing). So I'd assume d156 would not finish as well on a ceramic coating?
You dont need a drying aid if you dont use soap. However if you do its very important due to the water left on the vehicle making drying more damaging and harder
what lol
Best drying aid is O&R, cheap and safe to use.
Two different products. OG drying aid will leave protection and slickness. ONR is to grabby as a detail spray
