If you aren’t winning something for this choreography, I don’t know what more a person needs to do. This was modern choreography with classical techniques. Spectacular!
I have watched In The Heights at least 5 times and after the 1st it's all for the artistry this movie is a beautiful piece of art and EVERYTHING comes together in such a beautiful way.
I worked as a Universal Studios tour guide and a fun fact about Singing in the Rain is that they had to add milk to the water so that it would show up on camera.
I highly recommend Teen Beach Movie, I watched it once as a kid and then more recently as an adult and was blown away by how much I remembered and how charming it was!
I love the choreography in In the Heights and then I learned it was Chris Scott who is one of my favorite choreographers and it all made sense. Loved getting to see this breakdown!
Kind of a bummer that teen beach movie has such a “kids Disney” reputation because the choreography is incredible...like one of the best dancing movies of the 2010s
9:43 It's so funny he says that, because as happy as Gene Kelly looks in that number, he filmed it with a 100+ degree fever. That must have been incredibly uncomfortable and miserable, but he powered through.
I think knowing what dancers are like, despite his fever he probably still really loved doing it. Also probably why he still went ahead and did it even with his fever 😍
I grew up on 180St. ITH and went to Incarnation School on 175th. St where most of the movie was film and I loved the movie. I saw ITH at 37Arts off Broadway and after the show I ran into LMM in the lobby and told him that I loved the show and that he would win a Tony Award. The Broadway show was excellent and I've seen the movie three times in the theater and twice on HBOMax. Alabanza to Christopher Scott.
me watching this: "wait a minute, in the heights just came out!" i been watching all 3+ year old videos lately, so seeing one less than a week old was a shock lol
I am a mid 30's woman who legitimately likes Teen Beach Movie, unironically. There's a bit of shame there, but I also don't care. There's some really solid songs!
I looooove how happy he gets talking about Stormy Weather. Overall he was just so excited to talk about others' choreography and the talent of the actors.
Nope, the dancers were all latinos and so where the actors. We latinos come in all colors which is a beautiful things so please stop Americanizing the skin color situation that occurs in the USA to what actually happens in Latin America
@@andreanavarro2518 People assume if you are black, you are African American or African, and if you are white, you are European or a real American. So small minded.
@@lexis4490 Exactly!! I don’t think foreigners know that we latinos are very diverse. We have a mixture of indigenous roots, African roots, Spanish or Portugal roots, and even Asian roots thanks to all the migration that happens a long time ago. And this is why I love being Latina!!

HE WAS HAIR IN STEP UP 2, 4, 5. YALL HES A REEEAL ONE. Much respect 👏🏻 Jon M. Chi’s first movie he directed was actually Step up 2. LOVE THIS
In the Heights' When the Sun Goes Down was for me one of the most beautiful musical numbers in cinema history

Hearing someone talk about tap dancing in one of these reviews makes me so happy, nobody ever talks about tapping!
I know; love tap!
I’ve loved Chris Scott since the Step Up days. I never watched that Teen Beach movie but this definitely made me want to see it

Honestly, my favorite dance moment was the very end of Carnaval de Barrio. It was so joyful and I just wanted to be a part of it!

I love that he knows about the Nicholas brothers and has introduced them to a new generation. They were amazing!
Knowing about the Nicholas Brothers is a low bar.. they are really important. Anyone who knows anything about tap or dance has heard of them!
@@ammaleslie509 YOU’RE a low bar!!
I'm so proud to say that Chris taught a choreo class when I was little❤
Stormy Weather was one shot without any rehearsal. That's how good the Nicolas Brothers were!
Choreographers are amazing

The intricacy of this is amazing to me, I didn't think about this at all while watching but it was there

I wish this was more of an explanation as to why there was no bachata in this movie or musical because Washington Heights is 76% Dominican populated

Thats the name of one of the songs in "In the Heights "
It’s the amount of the winning lottery ticket.

The most boring dancers are the ones that dance for a paycheck
Me who only watches horror and action: "don't care, still don't care"
