I was in the military years ago and bought myself a brand new SX-250 when I was half way through trade training. All up it cost me nearly $11k, the most I'd ever spent in my life. The bike was stored on base with all the other road bikes, cameras everywhere, thought it would be safe. I went to pick the bike up one Friday to go riding out in the hills and there was a vacant spot, my blood boiled instantly. What really pissed me off though is when I went and saw secpol, the "base police", and they said to me that because it didn't have government plates they couldn't spend any time investigating, despite the base having multiple cameras on the entrance/exit which could have revealed who stole it. Funny though how their attitude changed when I told them that their cars which they drove to work also didn't have government number plates... about a week later they gave me footage of the ute which had fucked off with my bike, a service member with no honour, and that was dealt with separately in our own "special" way. I've done a lot of bad things in my time on this planet, but stealing from people is not one of them.

A shout out to The Beat's Mirror In The Bathroom and a shout out to all the 80's kids out there. It was GOLDEN era for music and we didn't even know it at the time.
You don’t know where to look clearly. There are plenty of amazing movies if you look past the avengers and all that crap. If you need a list let me know.
13:03 Reminded me of when Donny came out that tunnel at the start of Inglorious Bastards. The smack of the bat, the swagger, the way it was shot. Also, overall, cracking job lads.
This was me back in 1984, had my rm 125 nicked, that I had saved all my school dinner money up having gone hungry at school, while riding round on my grifter. Listened to all them Ska songs, I can relate to this so much, well done the makers of this. Also when black & white kid seemed to get on miles better because of Ska music.
Enjoyed. Story, very good. Acting timing, bit slow. Over all, enjoyed it. Probably could make a series out of the two brothers lives/relationship, worth a thought.
I just treated the pauses as part of the cinematography. Almost like he had to take a second before saying something or figuring out the next step. Having something you love stolen like that can be a surreal experience
Kier Luke - the pacing is what makes it. Too much cinema neglects real life. Pauses, expression, awkwardness, reaction. Great film lives in between the lines as well as during the dialogue.
I'm not gonna get picky with the hints of the 21st century (impossible to avoid with the budget these guys had to work with). I reckon the makers of this film captured the essence of the early 1980s with the period vehicles and the music (especially the ska tunes).
Sad thing is apart from cars and clothes most of England looks the same as it did in the 80s, not even hard to find houses that have the same decor as they did 40 Yr ago

That's like me growing up in the late 70s, proper nostalgia right there.Even the fights were cleaner back then, you had a ruck with someone and be drinking down the club later like mates.
Rare bikes these days.. XL185s and PE175, nice little short, some questionable acting. As a Bristol boy living through the 80's.... we were more shit scared of the Hells Angels in Totterdown and the Pikeys at the bottom of the hill. The whole area was full of Skins, not a safe area for MODs. St Pauls had kicked off with riots so you stayed away from the city centre at night. Excellent reggae clubs and cider bars back then. Bristol is a cool City, will go back there one day.
No, they had a beak nose. This is a 1300/1600 L with an RS front spoiler and no black quarter bumpers, or the black rubber spoiler on the boot. Shame about the brown interior, I had black. The wheels are from a 2.0 Capri Laser, and not the RS, but they are the same style. Close, but no cigar!
Having spent a lot of time in Hartcliffe, Bristol in the 80's and being keen on motorbikes I love this! Looking forward to seeing you make a full length version. Got a bike upgrade at the end of the film too, from a boring 4 stroke to a fun 2 stroke. Need any further Hartcliffe anecdotes let me know.

They should make a full movie in hartcliffe bristol based on the riots that happend there in 1992 about the 2 guys who were killed by the police for stealing the police motorbike
@@mig-stallion1359 I think they stole a motorcycle, may have even been an unmarked police motorcycle. They were pursued by the police and were either hit off or crashed. Both died. The local community blamed the police. Several night of rioting at Symes Avenue shops, which is now a Morrisons.

Yes, I was the one who actually believed it was the 80s. Man I was a kid and it shows just how I loved my childhood in that era. Everything seemed simple. Life appeared as aesthetically better and more real than the technological world we now live in.
I just realised where this was filmed. Right next to the church where my aunt was married. My Nan lived around the corner in Pinewood Close. Those were happy days.
The soundtrack is incredible! The authentic bikes, clothing, and attitudes from early 80s Britain make this film feel so real and beautiful. It's fantastically fun and truly captivating.
This is pure gold, I love films that cut back to the old school times. My bro and I used to scuff around on old bikes. Like many, we grew up with very little money in a broken family but we wouldn't change a thing. I was gutted when his Xl was stolen and can relate to relying on my older brothers reputation to put things right. We're both into our classic fords and 80s motocross era so this was a great watch. Other racist films cannot be related to them as they aren't "Normal Life Based Concepts". American History X is a Movie that played in cinema's for an example.
Ska was dead by 1984 or were you a Scooterskin as that was a popular still on the Scooter scene.

there is always one, the albums and songs were still about.

I just treated the pauses as part of the cinematography. Almost like he had to take a second before saying something or figuring out the next step. Having something you love stolen like that can be a surreal experience
I love that his tough bro listens to Bentar😆
Kier Luke - the pacing is what makes it. Too much cinema neglects real life. Pauses, expression, awkwardness, reaction.
Great film lives in between the lines as well as during the dialogue.

I loved the past decades 70's, 80's, 90's. I think they were better. I was a teenager in the 80's
I'm not gonna get picky with the hints of the 21st century (impossible to avoid with the budget these guys had to work with). I reckon the makers of this film captured the essence of the early 1980s with the period vehicles and the music (especially the ska tunes).
Like the upvc double glazed windows and doors that nobody had on council estates plus the graffiti was about 40 years in the future
The Suzuki RM 370 was an authentic touch!
Sad thing is apart from cars and clothes most of England looks the same as it did in the 80s, not even hard to find houses that have the same decor as they did 40 Yr ago
@@deadsi you will struggle to find houses without upvc double glazing, the flats and houses I lived in has metal framed single glazed, frost on th inside in the winter
What's a license plate? ;)
That was a joy to behold beginning to end. The cinematography was so captivating and the sound track beautifully accompanied the setting and varying moods! Normally with the smaller budget films it's easy to tell right off the bat because of the audio quality but this audio was so well done and sounded so professional!

Rare bikes these days.. XL185s and PE175, nice little short, some questionable acting. As a Bristol boy living through the 80's.... we were more shit scared of the Hells Angels in Totterdown and the Pikeys at the bottom of the hill. They should make a full movie in hartcliffe bristol based on the riots that happend there in 1992 about the 2 guys who were killed by the police for stealing the police motorbike
How were they killed?
probably beaten to death by a baton.
@@mig-stallion1359 I think they stole a motorcycle, may have even been an unmarked police motorcycle. They were pursued by the police and were either hit off or crashed. Both died. The local community blamed the police. Several night of rioting at Symes Avenue shops, which is now a Morrisons.
The police in America do that on a daily if you blink wrong at em.
I think its good Police are upping their game against moped thieves by ramming them lol but I agree that killing is disproportionate, sad case there tbh
