      Couple words of advice:
Take high school seriously. Keeping my crap together for 4 years has gotten me $100k in merit scholarships.
Take college seriously. Many med schools won't even look at you seriously unless you generally have over a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and your science GPA needs to be high as well. A good MCAT score is needed as well. 510 was the average score for all admitted students last year. P.S. Med schools don't care where you went to undergrad, they just want to see that you applied yourself. That Harvard degree doesn't mean anything if it came with a 2.0 GPA. Also, know what your financial situation is. Med school isn't cheap, and you need to save money in undergrad. If you can, go to a state school. Many smaller private schools also get a ton of endowment money to hand out as merit scholarships.
Learn to sit down and study. Something I'm still working on.
Volunteer. If you can get into a volunteer spot at a hospital when you get older, do it.
Any clinical (meaning in-hospital or patient care) job will look great. I'm in EMT school right now at 17 years old. Start preparing early, so you have a shot at getting in. Be a phlebotomist, an EMT, a scribe, etc...
Do as much research as you can during your undergrad years in college. Those years are closer than you think. If you aren't drawn to research, or can't feasibly find a spot, continue volunteering. Habitat for Humanity, Shelters, etc...

I recommend applying to an accelerated medical program. Acceptance rate into most medical schools is approximately 2% in California. If you can get into an accelerated medical program you don’t have to worry about getting into medical school and reapplying after college, getting 99 percentile on MCAT etc... otherwise it’s GPA, GPA, GPA (and also MCAT) People say grades aren’t as important as you think they are but they’re the biggest factor in your application.

All this hard work and money to be replaced with machines and mid-level providers.
