What a fantastic man. Very eloquently phrased about the Academy's decision NOT to televise some of their so called "lesser" awards. Let's hope they rethink this for next year.

Well deserved😀 It’s sad one of the biggest category is not televised😓 Editing is big as cinematography or any other category that was shown live.

This pretentious arrogance of Oscar Academy seems detached from the collaborative reality of filmmaking. They have created two synthetic divisions here:
1.Regular (proper artistic) Oscars, whose winners get to participate in the live event.
2.Technical (implicitly not as "artistic") Oscars, whose winners are not important enough to include in the live event, but get relegated to a pitiful "backstage" event.
Is it the fact that this synthetic division is down to what is "technical" and not?
Who in their right mind, with *any* knowledge of VFX-work, Cinematography, etc.. think that these are more "technical" than artistic achievements? Why this division in the first place? What isn't artistic in the camerawork in Lawrence of Arabia? Joe Walker's film editing in Dune... etc.
And, by the way, this toxic synthetic division has had ramifications on the viability of job security in the VFX industry as a whole over time. It's a ruthless job market if you're a VFX artist (animator etc), with a salary not in concordance with their abilities, and a lot of piecemeal 3 months contracts, etc. Job security is bad for them, and they still get treated like a lower rung category of film-making.

Maybe if they hadn't shoved a bunch of unnecessary nonsense and advertisements into the show, they could have actually fit all the awards without having to throw some undeservingly to the way-side.

Exactly! Honestly, I could live without all the "comedy" nonsense that they put every year. It's not even funny most of the times.
