    Your video has been a great help and I've managed to remove my primatic cylinder and all the copper & lead pipework. I filled the hosepipe with water like you advised.
    Also thanks for mentioning the part 2 ball valve.

    I've probably forgot the number of drain cocks over the years that haven't worked, siphoning every time for me👍. Good video again by the way

    Great video. The way you showed siphonic action was brilliant. I have always heard of it but never paid attention to how it actually works.
    Thanks Derek 👍🏻

    Yes just watched it back. One must be a vented f & e indirect system. What's the system type is the one with the red expansion vessel?

    • @simonstones1918
      @simonstones1918 4 года назад

      Sealed unvented system fella. That’s the expansion vessel you describe...

    Great video, thank you. Is it necessary to also drain the central heating circuit when draining the cylinder to work on for example, the immersion heater ?

    Hi nice video ,
    I have a question please .
    I have to replace a tap in my downstairs cloakroom. But is not any isolation valve on it .
    I have a boiler with an Unvented cylinder upstairs, so I understand if I shut off the main feed valve in the cylinder I stop the cold go into .
    But how I can isolate the hot water side ?
    Is not any valve after the cylinder 🤔

      @tomkatgastraining  8 месяцев назад +1

      If you turn the main stop tap off it will turn your cold and hot off at the same time

      @@Matteo-rs7nk if you have an unvented cylinder it’s fed from the mains cold supply to the house there should also be an isolation valve at the combination valve at the cylinder if it’s not stopping but it will run for a short time before it stops

    Hi Derek thanks for sharing my questions is if I have 15 meter hose pipe long and want to drain cylinder should I fill hose pipe first ?

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  2 года назад +1

      I will always have my hose empty because if it’s full of water you could create the siphonic action before you get the hose outside. Also when sucking on the hose to create the vacuum you don’t want a mouth full of dirty water.

    What's the red expansion vessel for in the video above the cylinder? This a mismatch of two previous videos? :-)

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  4 года назад

      Wayne Nixon it a mix of new and old videos to try and explain in more detail. The system with the expansion vessel was a sealed heating system with a vented hot water system. Hope that helps 👍🏻

      @@tomkatgastraining Was the coil in the cylinder pressurised? Didn't think cylinders could be part of a pressurised system? But at 1 bar it's just like having a feed cistern at 10m head?
