I’m not nitpicking, I just want to save frustration for later viewers. This video has helped me IMMENSELY with this technique, but I had to rewatch the videos many many times because I just wasn’t getting it. On the 3-string sweep you start with, the tabs you provide are not the same as what you’re playing, and what you’re playing is definitely way easier to do. Your tabs went “12-11-10-13-11-12” (on the respective strings, but I can’t write tabs in a comment) but in reality you played “12-11-10-13-11-10” then repeat. That 10th fret on the g string was a GAME CHANGER when I finally realized it. So much easier to play and pick up speed when you don’t have to double pick the same note.
Aside from guitar techniques and the great videos Man anyone can be called a teacher but few are really able to teach You're inspiring dude Keep up the good stuff👍 Cheers 🍻
This is by far the best introduction to sweep picking arpeggios on RUclips. There is just enough information to keep you busy, without being bored. Always great content.
You are a great teacher, not all the wasted minutes of side talk and stories....much appreciated that you value students time by doing that...also love your 90 miles per hour delivery, keep up the good work...it’s helping me teach my students top play better
Great video. You are an excellent teacher and humble which in the ego centric guitar world is a breath of fresh air. The basic sweep technique using your arm was the most important thing I learned. Thankyou and keep on shredding!
Is this THE BEST sweep-picking-technique lesson on RUclips/anywhere-really? - Absolutely! You inspire me to continue learning and give it in such understandable and well set up manner. Just amazing teacher - this should be a tutorial for guitar teachers!! Thank you so much for your work mate!
Thank you sir. This was hard for my 52 year old fingers as a beginner on the electric guitar. Very fun though. It is really a great exercise in general for me. Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
It actually makes me feel better knowing that you have things that are difficult for you. When you said watching that other guitar player made you want to quit playing guitar... I never tried sweep picking because I was always messing it up but the way you explained is simple to start doing it, plus adding exercises is the best combo possible. Subscribed, of course 🤟🏼😎👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks this was helpful, ive been in an intermediate slump phase where learning the tech but its still not applicable to music just yet (stopped playing for around 10 yrs played for 12 im 34 now) and just some of the smaller tips made real difference for me (the pick angle primarily) and the first exercise helped me learn to complete the loop if that makes sense (while my first shapes had hammer on the high e which sort of made the descending return timing easier, but once i get to the top the assymytry of the shape i was on made it frustrating to try and complete the loop after just a single ascent and descent. Your videos have been helpful with jumpstarting the music theory part of my brain back at it only a month but tons of progress has been made overall in recovery of ability.
9:53 I STILL haven't heard anyone better than Gambale. If anyone thinks they have a link to someone sweeping more cleanly, more controlled and more complex lines, please... let me know. Nice lesson on learning how to sweep pick.
What a cool video. You have a great way of explaining and showing the technique and I finally understand/get what sweep picking is. Now time to head to the woodshed! Thanks.
I've never been able to shred. I can do hammer-ons and pull-offs, but I could never figure out how people went from string to string so fast. I've seen guitarists doing something like this, it looked like they were just strumming, I had no idea it was a special picking technique. What a game changer. This will take some practice.
I saw Haken live in West Hollywood during the same tour; man, did you nail the description. Anyhoo, thanks for the great introductory video! I've been playing guitar as a hobby since I was 14 (I'm 30 now), and this helps me get my basic chops back after adult life causes the occasional guitar hiatus. Cheers from Los Angeles.
nonosh I started when I was 13, and I’m 20 now... I’m really feeling the pull of adult life telling me to put my gear in my closet and put my gear money toward a new car. It’s terrifying and sad, but it’s encouraging that it’s not forever. I mean, i still play rn, but not as much, and I know when I have a family and a career it’ll be even less and less. What was your “hobby hiatus” like?
@@maxonmendel5757 Hahaha dont even worry man, put thatmoney towards the things that you NEED in life! If your homeless, starving, and barely surviving you won't need a guitar anyways! Put thatmoney towards a car, get yourself right and in a few months you can get some gear! You'll be good, just keep pushing, always. I had a guitar hiatus recently for a couple years and have finally gotten sober, collected myself, and come back a better person than I've ever been. Decided to pick the guitar up again and dude....I have come back with a vengeance!!! I was pretty damn good before but I am surpassing limits I had previously placed on myself. Telling myself I couldn't do certain things. Anyways, you may have more important things to do right now in the moment but be patient and when you have the money and time to come back....hit it fucking hard dude, you'll be proud of yourself. (Remember, you don't have to stop, just stop spending all your money on new gear! Haha)

This is my first time here, and I gotta say, your voice is amazing
I've been playing these 3 techniques over three months and I can now say I can sweep pick pretty well!
You made this fun. More useful than a lot of big name video lessons.
I appreciate that :)
What a legend this guy is. Thanks for being so awesome.
Best teacher ever
Thanks for helping me out of my sweep-picking rut.
I wish you were my physics teacher back in high school, the world would have made so much sense other than chasing aces!! Really liked this!
You are a great teacher. you explain all in a very understandable manner
You are a great teacher, Amigo. Good job 👏
Great lesson and despite your youthful appearance, you're one of the best guitar teachers on Utube (IMO).
9:53 I STILL haven't heard anyone better than Gambale. If anyone thinks they have a link to someone sweeping more cleanly, more controlled and more complex lines, please... let me know. Nice lesson on learning how to sweep pick.
Damn somebody that knows what they are talking about, God Bless you sir

Fancy seeing you here Mr Truth. Big fan.
thanks for video was easy to follow especially since im just getting back into guitar after 35 years this will help on my journey
What a cool video. You have a great way of explaining and showing the technique and I finally understand/get what sweep picking is. Now time to head to the woodshed! Thanks.
this must be one of the best and learnsome video i have ever seen about sweeppicking
Great vid man...i personally like to practice with clean tone because I can hear better where I'm not being accurate and fix it.
If your video is referencing the deathklok coffee jingle tutorial video my day has been made
This was totally awesome. I like that you know that everyone wants different levels based on what they play!
I've never been able to shred. I can do hammer-ons and pull-offs, but I could never figure out how people went from string to string so fast. I've seen guitarists doing something like this, it looked like they were just strumming, I had no idea it was a special picking technique. What a game changer. This will take some practice.
I've been working on floating my wrist while doing alternative picking drills to make the picking angle consistent and pick faster.
Thanks for including the don'ts
@@maxonmendel5757
Hahaha dont even worry man, put thatmoney towards the things that you NEED in life!
Haha)
do u have any link so i can see him play? im kinda curious
Thank you. The arm/wrist thing seems huge. makes all the mechanical sense in the world! Going to play now.
