Yet? You’re not even half way! Get busy livin’! (Also talking to myself here 😉) I turn 43 in a few days. Just woke up for the day, about to do some push ups and get in about 15 minutes of Yoga. I used to do 100 pushups and 100 body weight squats every day in addition to cardio 2-3 days and lifting two days a week until 8 years ago. I dropped the pushups and squats part and I’m about 30 lbs softer than I was then. Let’s f*ing gooo!
Ps everyone: don’t forget to stretch your chest and shoulders after. Door frame or wall stretch.

I started doing workouts at age 45, a couple of years ago. I was so skinny that it took me 2 months to get to the strength just to succeed in doing ONE single pushup for the first time ever in my life.
Now (at 49) and pushing around 40-50 every time, that looks ridiculous. But yes: it is a very heavy exercise if you are just getting into it. Keep it up! :-)

When I joined the military I would constantly get in trouble for falling asleep in tech school. My instructor had me do pushups anytime he caught me. After awhile I just started doing them anytime I felt myself getting nodding off and eventually I made it into a challenge to do 20 pushups every 20 minutes throughout the school day until my arms gave out. Once I was able to complete a full day (420 not including lunch hour) I raised the amount to 30 every 20 minutes and worked on perfecting my form. Once that got too easy I started rotating between normal, wide armed, and diamond pushups. Had some of the best arms in the squadron by the time I graduated.

I meeeean kind of, you can do push-ups all you want but you won’t gain much more muscle after a certain time and you won’t gain much strength either. Push-ups are good but you should be running as well, lifting things and keeping all your muscles limb. Push-ups barely work the legs and but are great for core. Going to the gym helps to improve physical health. Regular exercise can reduce the risk of chronic diseases and promote overall health. Secondly, it helps to improve mental health by reducing stress and anxiety levels. Thirdly, it can help you to build a community and make new friends with similar goals. You don’t need a gym but you will get way more benefits using a gym then just doing push-ups. If a fat man just did push-ups all the time he would still be fat right! So I mean put two and two together

Folks there’s nothing special about push-ups. They said push-ups because that’s the exercise they studied.
The real thing that matters is having a good level of strength relative to your bodyweight. That can be improved just as easily with squats, lunges, chin/pull-ups, planks, rows, you name it.
Be strong and lean if you want a dramatically reduced risk of cardiovascular issues. That’s the takeaway

    "Correlation does not imply causation"
The ability to do 40 push-ups is directly associated with one's overall physical fitness, but It's not the push-ups preventing cardiovascular decline, rather the fitness associated with the ability to do 40 push-ups, or any other test of fitness at a similar level, that helps prevent it.
That's all just a Giga-brain way of saying that; if your fit enough to do 40 push-ups or any other exercise that is just as hard, then you're risk of heart disease is greatly reduced.
I'm sure most of you already understand this, but if your reaction to this video was thinking "Wow push-ups are great for your heart" then you fell for the 'ol
