Thanks for mentioning Suay LA for undonateable clothing. I've been searching for a place like that. You know, there's so many videos out there about decluttering, but not any information on resources to actually get rid of things. We should never put clothing in the trash bin 💚
This reminds me of my most painful breakup. Not only did I lose my love, but I lost his son as well. All I was left with was memories and my stuff. I regretted the decision for years.. I feel that our clutter barrier can be used as a shield to keep us distracted; but we are ready to be free of it, it can often be paralyzing. You don’t know how powerful your presence probably is for her, just simply empowering her to take control over hundreds of small, yet exhausting decisions. After a loss, death and/or breakup, as all us here can probably relate; we can feel like a shell of our former selves for a long time. Because of you Carla, your friend has better control of her environment, and in turn, I hope that it helps with her feelings of self-esteem and grief.. because I know for me at least, when my home feels chaotic, nothing feels right until I fix it. Most importantly, you came in without judgment, as you always do. You have a gift of making people feel ok with where they are in life, and making projects seem less overwhelming. Thank you for your videos, I look forward to every one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Carla, just thought about you after seeing the national news. Be safe with this storm. It's hitting about 27 states. Here in Charlotte it's in the 70's and partial sun. This weather is bipolar. Also, please make sure you and your father stock up on food. What people are not paying attention to is that the Ohio chemical spill will have environmental consequences for years. Remember this years can food is from last years harvest. Moving forward unless you buy local produce, like I do, trusting food moving forward towards the end of this year, I would not trust because the gov't is lying to this nation on what has really happened in Ohio. Those people are suffering. Be blessed!!!
Idea for the cords and cables: set up two boxes one full and one empty. As she uses cords and cables from the full box she can place it in the empty box when she's done using it and after a year she'll see what she's used and what is probably trash.
I felt Leesa’s anxiety at the beginning of the process. Then she became more positive about what was going where. Great support from you Carla. Best wishes from Devon UK
Leesa has a beautiful spirit, coping w/grief and releasing personal items is very challenging, having friends that are willing to help getting your home in order is a true blessing. My sincere condolences to her and their sons. I hope they emotionally support one another. ❤
We have a junk room. I go through it every few months and find anything I can get rid of and rearrange and clean floor. However, I have been watching your declutter videos and have been going through it again and STILL finding stuff that needs to go even though I go through it pretty often. In one of your videos you said “we are blind to our clutter.” That is so true. You look at an item so many times saying “Oh, I need to keep that b/c” or “oh that’s sentimental” and you keep that mindset unless you literally pick each thing up and make a decision about it.
Thank you, Leesa , for inviting us into your home and allowing yourself to be vulnerable. You did a fantastic job! And I am very sorry for your loss. ❤❤❤
So sorry for Lesa’s loss. This is a great opportunity for a fresh start and glad you’re helping her. I hope like she LOVES Sampson maybe she can be a foster for pets to keep busy and give back. That’s what my aunt did after my uncle died. Because of that two years later she met a nice gentleman and has happily remarried ❤.
Thanks so much for this show in particular. Lost my husband in July of 2021. I’ve packed some of his clothes up and given some to a gentleman in an assisted living facility who has no family. Im sure my husband would love and approve of what I’m doing. You are helping me move forward in this very difficult situation. Thank you both for covering this subject of what to do after a loss of a loved one. Just another note I love your choice of songs you play. Blessings to you ❤
I love that you are so sensitive to how someone decides what to get rid of and what to keep. The exercise gloves were a perfect example: you asked what she wanted to do and she wanted to keep both and store them. Over time, you persuaded her to try them on to help to work out which she preferred. You were gentle and kind until she had worked out what _she_ wanted to do.
This is such an important vid Carla. Thank you and Leesa. A very close friend passed away unexpectedly and a group of us helped go through some of her items. People’s items are so personal and often hold so many memories. 🌈🌸💜
You got that right! They say how important it is for an Older Person to Declutter so when they die, the children can declutter in a more sufficient fashion. In My Family, My Great Aunts had alot of stuff but since they grew up during The Depression they kept alot of stuff. In The Book Mama, by Terry McMillan Mildred Peacock The Main Protagonist found out her Late Stepmother had all kinds of Non Perishable Food Items in her Attic. She was scared there would be another Depression. The Room has so much History with Family, Friends and Roommates. Each item has a major memory for her.
I love that you both were hugging dolls while doing the intro to your video. I am in the process of decluttering my house too. Slow going but getting done.
What an incredible woman. Such strength. Loss is so tough and heart wrenching. It took me over 3 years to go through my mums things after she passed. Bless her, considering what family members may want to keep and cherish. I haven't finished watching yet, but hugs to both of you. You're also incredible for helping her. Xx
I can relate. When my stepdad passed away in 2018 and then a couple of months after my youngest son left to the Airforce I felt so lonely even though my husband and my oldest were still with me. I became a shopaholic and stored everything in my sons room. Till this day I’m slowly purging everything and had a yard sale. I’m almost done and it feels so good. I was filling this void with material stuff. It’s crazy how different we all cope with a loved ones death.
I haven't even watched the full video and I already love Leesa. What a bright spirit! So sorry for her loss!! I can't wait to see how this turns out. Love your decluttering with friends series!
What a great video. Junk rooms are the hardest to do because it's stuff you weren't really ready to let go of or don't know what to do with. Plus when you add in sentimenal items it's even harder. You both did a great job. Wishing Leesa a bright future. I think her stepsons are going to appreciate her keeping some of that stuff. At that age it doesn't seem as important as it will later in their life. It's a really loving and kind gesture on her part !
I find the junk room hard because it's the room I store things that need to be rehomed! If I can't deal with it straight away I don't feel like I've achieved anything.
Carla, your face when looking at the box of cords was priceless!!!! So thrilled for your friend, I hope this new, clear room helps her as she pursues this new chapter in her life. Loved the chaotic energy!!
What a wonderful person she is. That had to be tough for her. I've had a lot of loss of immediate family...it was hard to let go. I finally understood that holding on to everything, wasn't going to bring them back. I still have a hard time with photos. Still hurts. Thanks Carla for helping her.
The two of you did a fabulous job! Would she consider letting go of the two black bookcases? It would make the room seem bigger and she doesn't have much on them to relocate. Love this series of decluttering with friends.
She did really well for such a difficult room to tackle with the memories associated. I'm surprised how large the room actually is after it was decluttered and didn't even notice the windows when you 1st got there. She has a cute dog and I can see why she's a friend and a Sampson Buddy.
I keep my cords in gallon size Ziploc bags. C chords in one bag, labeled, android old style in separate bag, labeled. On and on. Then when i need one, i go find the bag and i don't have to go thru 25 to find the one i need. Works well! ❤
Such a positive and beautiful lady! Please pass on our thanks for her allowing us to share her journey. I think having you there there was both sensible but also kind - as she's in a situation where she needed a helping hand. Making decision after decision is a brutal process - so having someone in your corner is crucial to get to the end of the project.
I was actually watching a video earlier today that mentioned that if you have things from people who have treated you badly that you should let them go than keep them as a reminder of how they treated you. As I have been trying to declutter my life & things I think that this is something that I need to look into doing. Thank you for sharing these kinds of videos to give us inspiration to do this for ourselves Carla!
@@KWilliams22 well it’s been 2 months apparently since I wrote that comment & I was just notified that someone had liked it. My daughter (youngest) graduates this weekend from grad school & is getting her first apartment. After a discussion with her on what she wants, I have been able to declutter A LOT of things from my past that where collecting dust & reminding daily of how much I didn’t meet some people’s expectations in my life (yes, even deceased parents can be this way!). So after we move her into the apartment, my husband & I could technically fit into a smaller house. We decided that we’re not going to fill it back up again either!
This video was more difficult for me to watch. I think it was her initial issues with focusing and refocusing… but know that is very very important to show. I also think it is because I am a nurse who educated a lot of patients in loss and acceptance. So it did seem like work for me. I think you were the perfect steering mechanism for her and she is a bundle of energy. I know why Samson loves to both. Please thank Leesa for us.
Lisa looks amazing at 55 wow 🤩 What a great achievement in that 4 hours you both must have been tired after that. Glad you are feeling better Carla best wishes ❤
Hi Carla! Leesa did an amazing job! She just needed a friend there to stay on task through an overwhelming space. Great teamwork! I refer to my junk corner as my donation staging area. But lately 2 other piles have accumulated next to the corner, and you hit on the reason why. Those pesky procrastination/deferred/undecided decisions. I thank you for that segment and am going to go make decisions about those pesky piles. Sometimes we just need a friend to keep us on task. ;)
Thank you so much for doing & sharing this, Carla.😘 Decluttering after a close loved one passes is very difficult. It is rare to see it handled thoughtfully.💔
Very peaceful transformation. The thing I love most to do besides decluttering my own home is helping someone else do the same. You helped empower your friend. It can be esp difficult to let go after a loss.
Carla, you are AWESOME! Thank you so much Leesa, for sharing this amazing day online. 💕 My problem-room is 1/2 office and 1/2 clothes to sell on Poshmark (that I procrastinate like crazy in doing).😮 Other stuff is sitting in my Dining Room in boxes since I want to give it away, but it takes so much darn time to post pictures on FB and wait for people to pick up. I think donating to Goodwill in one delivery is what I really need to do!!!
You were the perfect friend to help her. You had the laser focus she needed. I love the one touch rule. It forces you to decide immediately what to do.
Let me just say you do a wonderful job. I wish you were here and helping me. I declutter once or twice every year and have given things either to friends or donated to charity. What I realized is this lady here is the first woman in your videos who is not grossly overweight. In fact she has kept her beautiful figure. Also she owns very valuable clothing. Somehow I thought ' like a European ' bc. women in Europe keep quite a strict regime. Before they get fat they will go on a diet. And yes, so do I. Don't hate me
😄😄😄 that part 1:55 "so many people can relate " then Sampson appeared.😄😄 Love how he ran to Leesa 3:00 to greet her -such a loving dog 🐕 he's well trained ❤️
Wow! What a great transformation! She's a great sport, and very good at letting go of her things. I think having her wonderful friend there really helped make it go by quickly and be a more fun process. Thanks for sharing. Very relatable! We all have clutter to get rid of at some points in life!
Great job ladies! So sorry for your loss, Leesa. Love that blue & white bag you are putting in the garage sale! I'd come buy it!! My mom passed away a couple of years ago, and I just turned her junk room into a beautiful media center! Such a great feeling to see progress being made!
Carla, I just discovered you on You Tube. You are such an amazing friend to help with this day-long project. This reminds me of times when I would travel out East to visit my sister twice a year . . . and we always had a major declutter job . . . the walk-in closet in the Spring and her drive-in basement in the Fall. You are so nonjudgmental [I confess to being more firm with my baby sister. You are the kind of friend everyone truly needs. Sometimes you just need someone to stand by and lend a hand, ask gentle questions, and be a boost when something big needs to be accomplished . . . and you are that friend!
Thank you sooo much!! You are an awesome sister for doing that! I used to do that with my sister and it’s totally different with family 😆 thanks for watching❤️
30 seconds in and I'm already tearing up 😢 your channel is what everyone needs to watch. Thank you for helping so many people Carla! Your channel is therapy 🤗❤
Yesssss... I have a junk room right now because of my recent movement... All the stuff, cartons, and bags have been stuffed into that room.. Gosh I'm overwhelmed just from the sight of it... Thanks Carla for motivating.. The Junk room will be my next project....
Carla you have been so busy I thought was upto date. sending my condolences ❤️ this definitely would not be easy. I’m glad she had you to support her your a amazing friend and your friends are lovely and so brave to let you their home. Bless you all xxx
It’s always pretty interesting how our possessions have varying versions of holds on us. Lisa did such a great job and I can see it was hard for her. Probably more emotional than anything. I’ve gotten rid of so many things I honestly don’t remember what I owned most of the time. Lisa, keep going forward babe you are doing a wonderful job dealing with your loss. I’m sure your husband is smiling 😊❤
It is so beautiful and special that you helped your friend in this way, Carla. This room is entirely relatable for a lot of us, especially after going through a period of grief. God bless you both! Amazing job btw:)
Great declutter/reset! I love watching your videos because they are real - you show the real process. Design wise (for your customer) I would move the bed to the bookcase wall (with or without the bookcases), so that it faces the windows! The bookcases can act as a headboard with clip on modern lamps! 💖 (if they don't fit elsewhere). Great job!
Yes, i have a holding cell too. It also has lots of things needing further handling. And grief has made it considerably worse. Im watching/listening to try to break thru my mental roadblocks, which are MANY, it seems. I am your friends age.
Leesa, I love your amazing positivity. Thank you for letting us be a part of your process. It was healing for me regarding my own losses. And you are such a rockstar at making decisions. 🥰
Love all ur declutter with friends. They are so blessed to have u Carla. Its amazing how well u do. U are so patient n get the job done so well. The room looks amazing. Bless u Carla.
I enjoyed this! I can't imagine how hard this was, but I'm glad she pushed through. This room has a lot of light. When possible, a new paint job, new curtains, and splurging on new bedding will aid in creating new memories. Sheer curtains over the closet would be nice. Maybe painting the black shelving close to the new wall color would make it seem more like part of the room. (480.00 yard sale is wonderful)

Label the cords as you use them
Such a fab idea!!
Best buy recycles chords, old phones, computers ,etc. If that becomes necessary.
And as she's discovering what they match up with she could label them in some way for future use.
That long grey dress with a black pattern is amazing on her 😍

I love the music you pick for your videos. I wasn’t surprised to learn you’re a musician.
This was such an amazing transformation and I love how patient and understanding you are when you’re helping someone declutter their space.
Wow thank you so much!!
LOVEEEEEE your hair like this!!!!
What a lovely lady. I’m so sorry for her loss but am so happy to see that you were able to help her so much.
You are so sweet and gracious yet firm about how you relate to your clients!♥️
30 seconds in and I'm already tearing up 😢 your channel is what everyone needs to watch. Thank you for helping so many people Carla! Your channel is therapy 🤗❤
Thank you so much!!❤️❤️❤️
Like your shorter hair cut!!
I like the music you use. Terrific content and editing. Your videos are so real life.
I appreciate that!
What a successful declutter! Room is peaceful, neat, organized now!
Oh my god, Abbey is the cutest little ragamuffin! I love her! So glad Samson also got to hang out with a friend, too.
Isn’t she the cuuuuutiesstt!!
It is so beautiful and special that you helped your friend in this way, Carla. This room is entirely relatable for a lot of us, especially after going through a period of grief. God bless you both! Amazing job btw:)
So sorry for Leesa’s loss. Big hugs to her!
Oh Carla, I am so sorry your Mum's message was lost. Good thing we have memories. Not the same but a bit better than nothing.💚💚💚
I was gutted! It was a recording of her talking about her life before I was born 😢 ❤️
Strong woman! What a difficult thing to go through
Agree!❤️
Your hair is adorable!! I love it!
Great job!
Love when you "Declutter with Friends". Also, love the shorter hair.
That declutter was fabulous! I have a room that needs this! Learned the clockwise is helpful! Thanks Carla! Your friend is darling!
Glad it was helpful! She is a doll!💖
She’s giving Sigourney Weaver in the best possible way! ❤
That’s right strong boss ass woman energy I luv sigourney!!!
Yes, i have a holding cell too. It also has lots of things needing further handling. And grief has made it considerably worse. Im watching/listening to try to break thru my mental roadblocks, which are MANY, it seems. I am your friends age.
I can relate. Bedroom turned to junk room and in the same scenario. Geeting started is the hardest part!
That must feel so good to have it cleared! Very nice.
Love your decluttering with friends 🥰 you have great friends too!
The amount of floorspace afterwards is impressive!
Leesa, I love your amazing positivity. Thank you for letting us be a part of your process. It was healing for me regarding my own losses. And you are such a rockstar at making decisions. 🥰
I can definitely relate. I just don’t how to began. Feel smothering, overwhelmed when even think to start get rid of things
It can be very overwhelming but just start with one item. It works. Even if you Declutter five things a day in a month that’s 150 items. It adds up.
I love the multiple sorting categories. This is so useful as I will be doing my junk room soon!!
Super well done Lisa on letting go of so much. You did well and you’re blessed to have Lisa help you😘💕
Thank you so much!
When 2 angels get together, you get paradise. Love this video. 🥰
You are so kind💖💖
Love all ur declutter with friends. They are so blessed to have u Carla. Its amazing how well u do. U are so patient n get the job done so well. The room looks amazing. Bless u Carla.
What a wonderful friend you are!!
