Depression rooms are definitely real. My whole apartment is organised and clean and very beautiful but I am currently working with my own depression room. It used to be my husband and my bedroom and then we got divorced and I didn’t even want to go in there for a few months so I just put all kinds of things there and slept in the living room. Just very recently I have moved back into the bedroom and it helped me a lot to buy new bedsheets, curtains and such as well as redecorating. I now have a beautiful bedroom - at least 85% of it. There is still a corner with stuff I need to deal with but I am proud to have gotten this far.

There's probably a reason you didn't do this, but it might be nice to move the kallax units to the wall on the right as you enter the room. This would make the closet much more accessible.
I think this was very uplifting and encouraging. Marsha and Mowie afterwards they looked so much more relaxed. They have a beautiful home. Now her creativity can freely flow.
Carla, you are really good at what you do. You seem to have a gift for helping people feel like they can trust you, confide in you, and most importantly, be real with you.
Great job! I would put the kallax units over on the wall behind her desk where the brown unit was as it would open up the room & she would be able to access the coats in the wardrobe easier 😊😊😊
I watch quite a few decluttering channels and I am starting to think that the story telling of each item by the subject helps make it easier to let go of things.The sharing of the memory or the original intention of items honors the object and that makes it easier to release.
Ha LOL... I had one of those rooms I used to call it "the avalanche room." Because it looked like a avalanche hit and everything just fell all over the place. My husband and I used to close the door and pretty much put a do not enter sign on it .Eventually we decluttered and got rid of the avalanche room. Bravo for her!.
I hope the beautiful Masha gets a thrill of pleasure - joy - satisfaction every time she goes into the room for months and months! It's such a proof clutter can be an emotional block, because Masha and Mowie's home was so beautifully put together with loved items on display to treasure and everything with a home and in its home - and then this one room. Then she digs out pictures of a past relationship and she's been unwell - and suddenly the room makes perfect sense. Thank you for helping this lovely lady get back her creative action room - she and Mowie deserve the best 😊

I avoid those groups and thrift stores.. I spent way too much time decluttering to brig more stuff in. It is really helpful to be unemployed at the moment because it really limits what I bring in. :-)

This is my 2nd time watching because it was so motivating. The rapid fire decision making was exciting. I can see her painting or personalizing the room to have ownership of the room. Well done Ladies!!

So much better! I suggest moving the Kallax units on the wall to the right of the door as you enter. It would open up the space in front of the closet. You could then mount hooks on that wall to hang pieces of costumes while you are assembling them. Hang a full-length mirror to the left of the closet for trying on costumes! That small wooden shelf unit you took to the garage would work nicely to the left of the desk for storage of smaller accessory items so they're not all stacked in the closet.
Wow, not only the room was transformed through the course of this video, but Masha herself changed too. She looked so much younger and happier at the end. Like some boulders had been removed from her back. Thanks for the vid. It was encouraging to watch!
You said it right! A big messy room is like a junk drawer only larger. Tackle it in the same way. Thinking of it that way, the space seems doable. Ill try that. My basement needs a bit of TLC.

Wow, fantastic results! She has so much floor space now. Maybe after she is in the space with the way it is for a couple of weeks, she might consider moving the cube storage to the opposite wall. This would help with everything not being on one side of the room and it feeling heavy and give better access to the other side of the closet. She was very inspirational!

When I was decluttering I joined a buy nothing group and when all my stuff was gone I left the group so I wouldn’t be tempted to take things from others.

I always always always place my desk by a window when possible. Being able to look outside a window makes working much less miserable!

This was so satisfying to watch, Carla. Great before/after, and an inspiring middle where all the hard work takes place. How wonderful to reclaim her space and her life after what sounded like a rough year. Great work, you two. (Side note: I was imagining placing the storage units on the empty wall coming into the room but suspect that space is for guest sleeping...air mattress of course. Or maybe a happy dance.) Enjoy.
