- If you are new here, hey! I am Natalie - follower of Jesus, wife to my childhood best friend, and homeschool mama to three.
I’m also the ORIGINAL creator of “MESSY TO MINIMAL”- a widely-popular extreme decluttering and home organization series that I started in 2020. In the course of about a year, my husband and I worked to simplify our home and lifestyle. With our first pass through our home we got rid of over 80% of our possessions.
Nowadays, we’re not keeping track of the number, because decluttering is more of a maintenance task to invest into the health and simplicity of our home and family life moving forward!
I continue to share this series as a way to completely DEMOLISH the idea that decluttering is a one and done activity (especially in a home with young children!) I am here to give you non-judgmental encouragement and some gentle motivation for your own decluttering and simple-living journey!

I’m the same. I watch them in the evening after my daughter goes to bed. So I have ideas and motivation for my next day off work for what I want to achieve (declutter/clean/reorganise etc)

I needed this video so much! My husband and I don't see eye to eye on keeping things minimal in our home and it's caused a good amount of strife between us. Thank you for the reminder that minimalism isn't about an end result and it's not about meeting a certain standard. I'm just doing the best I can with the husband that I have! And our marriage comes first, not minimalism.

I could never be that level of mom but her realness came through and her ability to have honesty with what works and what doesn't system wise and her lovely personality and humor too. So refreshing to see other people have messes and clutter. I’ve been overwhelmed with how much I neglect the inside of my house whenever I focus more on outdoor projects. This video reminded me that’s called life and it’s not important to do it all every single day.
My respect for you and your lifestyle grows with every video, Natalie. I've been watching your channel for years now, and although I enjoyed your decluttering videos with your kids in the past, I think it's so great that you've switched the focus to the rest of the house / you in particular. I can tell you value your kids' privacy and personal boundaries, and keep them in the forefront of your decision making in terms of your content. I think that's a wise choice!

I love watching you do these!!!! It reinforces that even if I get through my messy to minimal journey, I will still have LOADS of stuff to declutter in the future, because it's a cycle. Seasons change, interests change, style changes, sizes change, things get worn out, duplicates are purchased when something is lost and then you declutter that thing when you find it. It's just good to see that you didn't go through your entire house and only find an empty shampoo bottle and a paper clip to declutter.

As a male who has had a messy home for a decade, this is *VERY* much motivating.
I'm slowly working my was though it, it didn't take a day to clutter my home, and so it won't prob take a day to declutter it. and i'm at peace with that! (i have been like a bomb exploaded lol)
Now i just slowly need to work my way to the deep stuff, and let some go, that i have not been using for month/years, and there my good friend, lays the challange 👀

The wire nut made me laugh, I collected quite the collection in a jar in the laundry room when my husband was working as an electrician. Brought back so many memories. Now it’s a collection of his electrical inspector business cards in his pockets on laundry day lol.

Your comments at the end resonate ! Our three kids went to college with no student loans, we had been able to save the money. Our house is about to be paid off and we have good retirement savings. Because we made those choices. Not materialism or competition.

I loved the transparency about the peppermint cleaner altho I was thinking how I just paired two lavender spray bottles for homemade sprays and how they aren't gonna even be what they're labeled 😂 tis life.
You just motivated me to finally declutter the piles and piles of clothes my kids no longer use. I always dread laundry bc I run out of room to put the clothes in. 😮💨
I have my 4 children choose their favorite 6 tops and 6 bottoms. They also keep 2 dressy outfits to rotate every other week for church. And then 7 underwear, 7 pair of socks, and 7 under tanks. That's literally it. Oh, and 2 pairs of pajamas.
Put the rest into a bin somewhere else (basement, attic, garage, just out of sight). You'll see then how laundry once a week for each person will be soooo easy.
Thursdays my 11yo does her and her 5yo sister's laundry (they share a room downstairs). And on Fridays 13yo does her and her 7yo brother's laundry (they have rooms upstairs). It's washed and dried on that day but then Saturdays they sort and put away. They all do the no fold method, just hang up what needs to be and then they have a 3-drawer dresser (top drawer for socks and underwear, middle drawer for tops and pj's, and bottom drawer for bottoms).

Looking around again at our space wondering how are we going to fit homeschool supplies in the fall and wondered what curriculum you like for kindergarten? Your daughter and mine are close in age. The there's our two year old, he's almost too big for the crib so his room desperately needs redone. It currently holds shelves with books, office supplies, and some craft supplies (already decluttered). Then there's my vanity and my desk I don't want to get rid of (currently in use as changing table). So much to figure out in not a lot of space and a host of other stresses of life and chaos.

My favorite chip clips are cheap clothes pins. Costs a buck or two. You het a ton and as they break we just toss. Been using that hack for years. One of my favorite things. I have a little pile in my wrap/ foil drawer and when they all disapear. I just re fill. If i find them on the floor while cleaning i just toss. We do toss back in the drawer or clip on the pantry wire shelf also.
My husband is an electrician as well. The wire nuts! Solidarity!

Unfortunately, You Tube has some stuff to figure out on the backend to make premieres a good option again.
There is a current glitch that is making the premiere option not send notifications out to Subscribers, and it was absolutely killing my videos to be published in that way. But I am always here, Responding to comments within the first hour a video goes up- kind of like a premiere. I do miss the live chat though.

My dumping space is our guest room that is my husbands gaming room. He has a tendency to get home and drop off all his stuff on the floor in that room 😅 it’s a work in progress trying to reorganize and break his habit
Our office/guest bedroom is our junk room 🥲 clean laundry on the bed, used blankets on the floor, a mass collection of water bottles from my husband working, our mini ironing board, it’s a mess 😭
