  • I took my Newly lifted AWD Safari van on it's first offroad adventure for a shakedown test. This Is the Journey's 3/5 inch Astro or Safari lift kit on 31 inch tires. I've been doing a full build series on this van on RUclips, so you can watch those, also I plan on doing a lot more adventure vanlife type of videos here moving forward now that my van is close to completion. This was filmed at one of my favorite local secret spots. I filmed it mostly on my gopro, but also I have some footage from my mavic mini drone in there too.
    Since I had major tire rubbing issues on the run, I decided to add in the footage of me trimming my fenders more at the end. I felt like it made sense,but I'm not counting this as an episode in my build series. It should probably be a half episode but it's probably not important anyways...

    Humm? The Rubbing In The Frame and Sway Could Be Eliminated By Using Wheel Spacers But Might Cause It To Rub On the Fenders? All In All That was Nice To See an Astro/Fari Doing That Off Road Stuff And Some Of Those Boulders You Went Over Without Taking Out Your Undercarriage I Was Impressed! I never Used Wheel Spacers But They Make Them In All Thicknesses So Maybe Just An Inch Out Might Not Affect The Upper Fenders? Just A Thought..

    Thank you for the clip, and he asked you for a video clip explaining the engine and caretaker of a car. Keep it up. The Chevrolet is in 1992. With appreciation, and thank you.

    Don't worry too much about what we're thinking, just enjoy what you're doing. You're teaching us what our astro van's can handle. Great footage I love the landscape. For your rubbing issue, get either some off set wheels or some wheel spacers would help that. Hope to see another video. Good luck brother.

      Thanks man! I agree that my rubbing could be helped with spacers or different offset wheels, but I've gotten to the point of living with it now just fine. And I definitely have more videos, just weirdly not many offroading in the van, strange because that was originally was this channel was supposed to be😂, but hopefully soon!

    how big are your tires? I'm running 30" by 9.5" mud tires with -6 offset steelies. And i also am running journeys add a leaf and then bilstein shocks. I only had to trim the front. Whne you do the rear suspension. you want to kinda weigh the back down or jump on the back to help set everything before tightening everything down. It will help with the suspension and also save your pumpkin gear from too much angle tension.

      I'm running 255/70/17 tires which I think is 31 inches ×10, I think slightly smaller tires would be better, but I've cut enough to clear at full flex in the rear now. I still rub a little in the front when I get bouncing on rough road, I'm not even sure where it's rubbing now though lol.

      @@SARGEinc not bad! I did have to cut away at my front bumper and then again on my rear inner fender well. I used a sawsall and a rubber mallet to pins the rest out of the way after I cut it. I will try to post a video in the morning on it. Maybe it will help you out.

    what size tires were you running at the time this video was made?

    • @SARGEinc
      @SARGEinc  2 года назад +1

      These are 255/70/17s, which is like 31.06 inches as per an online calculator. They definitely work good, but if I were to do it again, I wouldn't be afraid to go with a little bit smaller of a tire.

      @@SARGEinc I am in the process of building a 2000 gmc safari awd. Converting it to 4wd with 4low and 4high. Lifting it but not sure how far as I am going to be putting a smitty built xl roof top tent on it but I would like to fit 31x9.5 on my stock 15in wheels without cutting fender arches or hammering wheel wells.

    what kind of mileage are you getting after all the nods ?

    • @SARGEinc
      @SARGEinc  Год назад

      I'm not sure. I don't drive the van that much, so I do not keep track of my fuel mileage. For what it's worth, it's damn near twice as fuel efficient as the 1995 4runner I drove before this😂
